Paul Hollywood’s estranged wife Alexandra diagnosed with skin cancer

Paul Hollywood’s estranged wife Alexandra Hollywood has been diagnosed with skin cancer.
The 54-year-old cookery writer – who married Paul, 53, in 1998, but they split in 2017 – announced on Instagram she had been diagnosed with a basal cell carcinoma (BCC), a type of non-melanoma skin cancer.
But Alexandra reassured followers that while she was "freaked out" by her diagnosis, her condition is "no big deal" and was addressed by a specialist "straight away and very painlessly".
Speaking in a video, she said: "It did freak me out at first. A specialist sorted it out straight away and very painlessly.
"Everything’s going to be fine and go back to normal."
Alex insisted "we all need to be more self-aware" and blamed her diagnosis on her years "mucking around in boats as a Scuba instructor" with "little or no sunscreen" while also urging her followers to check themselves for signs of the disease.
Besides the video, she wrote: "So here’s the thing.. I wanted you lot to see this because I know that we’re all scared of the C word.
"I’m lucky, this is no big deal but it’s a bit of a wake up call and payback for those years I spent poolside and mucking around in boats as a Scuba instructor, in and out of the water with little or no sunscreen!
"We all need to be more self aware, so with that in mind – I really hope you’ll all have a good look at yourselves tonight in the bathroom mirror – and if you’re not sure about something .. go see your GP! (sic)"
