Paul Hollywood slams rival motoring show Top Gear

Paul Hollywood believes ‘Paul Hollywood’s Big Continental Road Trip’ brings "more culture" than his rival show ‘Top Gear’.
The 51-year-old celebrity chef has hinted he was asked to host the BBC2 motoring programme but turned it down because he had already starting filming his own show, which he believes is "very different" to its competitor programme, now helmed by former ‘Friends’ actor Matt LeBlanc, because it is more about the "people and the places, as well as the cars".
Speaking to the Express.co.uk about his latest venture, and the rumours he was asked to present the long-standing show – whose original line up of presenters included Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May – said: "Well, I was already filming this so it was very tricky.
"So, no. I loved doing this, it’s very different and celebrated different things.
"It’s different. I think it is more about the people and the places, as well as the cars.
"We bring in more culture and the cars are the platform that allows me to tell that story."
However, the ‘Great British Bake Off’ judge has revealed his wife Alexandra rolled her eyes in jealousy when she found out her spouse would be travelling across the globe in fancy cars.
When asked about his partner’s reaction to his latest venture, he explained: "I think there’s an emoji where you roll your eyes, that one. I think anybody would be [jealous]."
And the blue-eyed, silver fox has hailed ‘Paul Hollywood’s Big Continental Road Trip’ as a "dream job" and he is honoured a "fat baker" has been given such a great opportunity.
He said: "It’s a dream job, and I did manage to drive some special cars in some beautiful backdrops.
"I never thought a fat baker from the north would get a chance to do something like that."
