Queen Elizaebth’s handicapped cousin dies

Queen Elizabeth's cousin Katharine Bowes Lyon has died.
Miss Bowes Lyon, the mentally handicapped niece of the late British Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother, died aged 87 last month (23.03.14), although her family decided not to announce her death.
Katharine and her sister Nerissa, who was also mentally handicapped and died in 1986, were the subject of a controversial documentary entitled 'The Queen's Hidden Cousins', which was broadcast on Channel 4 two years ago.
According to the Daily Telegraph newspaper, the title suggested the Royal family had behaved uncaringly towards the sisters and Lady Elizabeth Anson, the queen's cousin, revealed the programme had "hurt" the 87-year-old monarch.
Lady Elizabeth slammed the programmed, calling it"an intrusion of privacy" and accused TV bosses of "capitalising on the royal connection and ignoring the facts, as the sisters have always been looked after by that family".
She said Katherine, who was the daughter of the late John and Fenella Bowes Lyon, was happy in a care home that was suited to her needs and had "regular visitors."
A private funeral has been held for Katharine and a Buckingham Palace spokesman declined to comment on her death.

Prince Harry and Cressida attend We Day

Britain's Prince Harry gave a motivational speech at We Day UK today (07.03.14).
The 29-year-old royal was cheered by crowds at the event, which promotes global youth empowerment, at London's Wembley Arena and joked: "For those expecting Harry Styles, I apologise and, no, I'm not going to sing."
Harry went on to say: "Every single one of you here today has done something amazing to be here. You may not feel like it, but I assure you that collectively your actions can and will shape the course of our future. We all share this planet together so we must help and inspire others to do the same. Our generation has the greatest opportunity out of any in our history to create change."
He added: "Some people think isn't cool to help others, personally, I think it's the coolest thing in the world!"
The prince was supported by his girlfriend Cressida, 25, for the first time at an official event, who went along with her half-sister Isabella Calthorpe and brother-in-law Sam Branson.
She was photographed alone in her usual low-key attire, wearing a black coat, skinny jeans and white trainers.
Princess Beatrice and her boyfriend Dave Clark were also among the high profile guests at We Day, which has helped to raise more than £22m since 2007.
About 12,000 young Brits listened to the prince and many other speakers and performers from a diverse range of backgrounds, including education activist Malala Yousafzai, former US Vice President Al Gore, Jennifer Hudson, Dizzee Rascal, Ellie Goulding and Birdy, among others.
Harry is very committed to his charity work, setting up Sentebale in 2006 with Prince Seeiso of Lesotho, to provide schooling, healthcare and food for deprived children in Africa.
The charity has proved a success and he is now planning to expand it into more of the surrounding countries.

Prince William and Catherine holiday without George

Britain's Prince William an Duchess Catherine have left their son Prince George with family while they enjoy a romantic holiday.
The royal couple flew to Male in the Maldives yesterday (07.03.14) for a 'second honeymoon' and have left their seven-month-old son with Catherine's parents Carole and Michael Middleton at their Berkshire mansion, along with a Scotland Yard security guard.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were taken from a First Class cabin into a VIP lounge before taking a British Airways flight on a private hydroplane accompanied by several other detectives, according to Mail Online.
The couple are said to be staying in the luxury five star Cheval Blanc Randheli Hotel on Noonu Atoll, one of the most exclusive resorts in the Indian Ocean, which only has 45 villas.
A four night stay in the hotel can set a holiday-goer back more than £6,000 and each villa has its own 41ft infinity pool, along with an outside dining area and private beach.
Catherine and William, who are set to embark on a 19-day royal visit to Australia and New Zealand next month with George, have had a busy few months with William, 31, taking a 10-week intensive course in agricultural management at Cambridge University.
The prince - who is studying in order to prepare himself for taking over the Duchy of Cornwall estate - doesn't have any classes this week and the course is set to conclude at the end of the month.
Catherine, 32, enjoyed a holiday with her family and George in Mustique at the end of January to mark her mother Carole's 59th birthday but is looking for a break before the royal visit.

Jennifer Hudson inspired by personal tragedies

Jennifer Hudson's new album is inspired by her personal tragedies.
The 32-year-old singer, whose mother Darnell, brother Jason, and nephew Julian were gunned down by her former brother-in-law, William Balfour, in October 2008, insists she has forgiven their killer to try and find peace and has used her late mother's phrases in her new material.
Talking about the upcoming record, the 'I Can't Describe' singer said: "It's my story - it's me, it's my voice, it's my perspective. There's a song called 'Moan' that I wrote, which came from something my mother always used to say, 'If you moan, it makes you better if something hurts.
"It will definitely be difficult to perform. Oh my God, it was difficult to record. Because it's so personal, it was really emotional."
Balfour, who was married to Jennifer's sister Julia, was handed three life sentences for the murders in 2012 without the possibility of parole, along with 120 years for other convictions.
Jennifer, who is headlining today's global empowerment 'We Day' event at London's Wembley Arena, has been working with the likes of 'Happy' hitmaker Pharrell Williams and producer Timbaland and will soon release more details about her third studio album, the follow-up to 2011's 'I Remember Me'.
She added to The Daily Mirror newspaper: "I want everybody to be Jenniferised! I want to reflect my energy, how I am when you meet me, in my music."

Birds of a Feather gets second series

'Birds of a Feather' has been commissioned for a second series on ITV.
The revived sitcom starring Pauline Quirke, Linda Robson and Lesley Joseph will return for a brand new series following the success of the first, which aired 15 years after the original show ended on BBC One.
'Birds' has been delighting fans new and old, with an average of eight million viewers tuning in each week.
The second series will be written once again by original 'Birds of a Feather' writers Laurence Marks and Maurice Gran.
Maurice said: "We're delighted 'Birds of a Feather' was such a success on ITV and really pleased to be asked to write another series. We hope the further adventures of Sharon, Tracey and Dorien will continue to thrill audiences young and old."
ITV's director of comedy and entertainment Elaine Bedell added: "We're very pleased that the brilliant chemistry between these three great actresses once again attracted the large and loyal audience that 'Birds of a Feather' deserves. The writers and producers have done a fantastic job in making the show feel funny, fresh and relevant. "
In addition to the original trio, the new series has also seen singer Matt Willis and Pauline's son Charlie Quirke join the cast.

Dancing on Ice stars perform death-defying stunts in final

The 'Dancing On Ice' stars are to perform death-defying stunts in the show's final this weekend.
The celebrity finalists, Hayley Tamaddon, Ray Quinn and Beth Tweddle, are determined to pull out all of the stops in order to be crowned the champion of champions in the last ever series.
'Coronation Street' actress Hayley is planning to jump over three men, spin in the air, and land on one foot in one of her three routines.
She told The Sun newspaper: "I go over three lads, it's like I'm flying without the wires.
"They throw me and I rotate in the air and land on one foot on the other side of them."
Ray, who won the show back in 2009, has added a daring backflip and a number of props to his routine, while Beth, who was crowned the winner last year, will "get thrown about right, left and centre".
The three contestants have been working so hard that they are "ready to drop" and are "covered in bruises" from their thrilling performances in last week's semi-final, which saw actor Sam Attwater eliminated from the show.
Hayley said: "I've torn my bicep. The pull on my shoulders in last week's routine was immense. I'm in agony."
The final episode of 'Dancing on Ice' airs Sunday 9 March at 7pm on ITV.

Sherlock to return in 2016?

'Sherlock' may not return to screens until 2016.
Mark Gatiss, who is the scriptwriter for the show, has announced there will be another episode of the crime drama but it may not be for another two years, as they need to fit it around Benedict Cumberbatch - who plays Sherlock Holmes - and Martin Freeman's (Doctor John Watson) busy film schedules.
He told the Metro newspaper: "Everyone wants to carry on doing 'Sherlock'. It's a simple matter of schedules - particularly Benedict and Martin.
"They've become superstars, which is brilliant, but we all want to carry on as long as we can.
"There was suddenly a kind of outraged response that it might not be back until 2016 but that's precisely how long it always is. It's always two years! But we'd like to return soon, of course."
The 47-year-old star went on to admit Benedict, 37 - who was voted the world's sexiest movie star - has become the first attractive Sherlock Holmes.
He explained: "Sometimes the right man and the right part comes along and they fuse.
"I think there is something about Sherlock Holmes, which has possibly always been the case - there's a kind of unapproachability about him. He's not interested in sex... apparently. So you immediately get that Mr. Darcy thing going on.
"He can't be tamed. It's attractive. Those are the people we are attracted to - the ones that aren't interested.
"I think it's that and the combination of the Byronic looks that Benedict has - and the coat - that's made him into, possibly, the first sexy Sherlock Holmes."

Simon Cowell prepares for backlash over I Can’t Sing

Simon Cowell is bracing himself for a backlash from his 'X Factor' colleagues over the 'I Can't Sing' musical.
The 54-year-old music mogul is preparing himself for the reactions of his past and present colleagues over the way they're portrayed in the stage show, which is based on the ITV talent competition.
Character Jordy - who is based on Cheryl Cole - is seen kissing a statue of the singer's ex-husband and Chelsea footballer Ashley Cole and is warned to "steer clear of professional footballers".
Meanwhile, 'X Factor' host Dermot O'Leary - depicted as the needy Liam O'Deary, who's desperate to come across as cool and credible - has admitted that he won't be going to see the West End show.
He told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "I'm not going to see it. What's the point? It might look a bit odd if I was there. I'm sure it's good fun."
Simon himself is also ridiculed in the play - which was written by Harry Hill - as he's played by former 'EastEnders' star Nigel Harman, who sings: "When I was a young boy at school, the others would treat me so cruel. The bully would hide in a hedge, he would jump out and give me a wedgie."
The man behind the 'X Factor' claims he had no input in the script despite financially backing the project on which he's listed as a co-producer.
He said previously: "The deal I made with Harry was, 'I'm not going to change a word.' "

Phil Spencer cleaned dog poo for TV show

Phil Spencer cleaned up dog poo while filming 'Phil Spencer: Secret Agent'.
The famed property presenter claims he's been forced to pick up "an awful lot" of excrement from the pets of home owners when embarking on visits to houses which are failing to sell on the housing market, and has been shocked by the unhygienic conditions of some homes.
He exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "When I'm filming 'Secret Agent' and the houses seem to be less than tip top, that's the reason I'm there because they haven't sold in a year or two so I try and help. I certainly have come across some houses that have fallen on bad times.
"I've cleared up an awful lot of dog poo over the last four months. We filmed in one house and I stepped in dog poo, and then I looked and my other foot was in dog poo as well. It wasn't a high moment."
The cleaning doesn't stop there, as the 44-year-old property expert - who also stars alongside Kirstie Allsopp in 'Location, Location, Location' - says he's been roped into doing other household chores in a desperate bid to help put run-down houses back onto the market.
He added: "Yeah. I've had to clean baths, I've seen rooms full of boxes, pets being fed on dining tables. You know, it's not rocket science to present a house for sale."
Phil Spencer is working with npower to show people how easy it is to save energy around the home. For more information, visit npower.com/press or call 0800 048 0593 / 0330 100 0441.

Ozzy Osbourne’s mansion needs £300k renovation

Ozzy Osbourne's home in England needs £300,000 of repairs because of flood damage.
The 65-year-old rocker and his wife Sharon Osbourne's mansion in Buckinghamshire, South East England, has been ravaged by the recent floods in the region and the couple have now been forced to flee to their Los Angeles home as renovations on the property can't begin for another nine months.
Ozzy told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "It's been completely flooded. The rain has battered down the walls and seeped through everything. There is water everywhere.
"We've been told it's going to cost £300,000 to repair but we can't even go about getting it fixed because apparently it's going to take nine months to dry out. The place is ruined. If it's not one thing, it's the other."
News of the damage on the Black Sabbath frontman's seven-acre estate comes after the Met Office revealed the UK has suffered its wettest winter since records began in 1910, and it's not the first time his home has been struck by bad luck.
In 2003, Ozzy broke a vertebra in his neck after being thrown off of a quad bike whilst riding around its gardens, and ten years ago a fire broke out in the house as the couple slept resulting in them being treated for smoke inhalation, but the unlucky streak didn't end there as in late 2004 an estimated £1 million worth of jewellery was stolen by an intruder.

Ke$ha feeling ‘healthy’ after rehab stint

Ke$ha has left rehab and is feeling "healthy".
The 'Timber' hitmaker has finished her treatment for an eating disorder at the Timberline Knolls clinic near Chicago and claims she's "happy" to be working on new music.
She took to Twitter last night (06.03.14) to update her fans on her progress, writing: "Happy to be back! Feeling healthy & working on tons of new music, I can't thank my fans enough for all the love & support u have given me. (sic)"
She later added: "Life is beautiful. I'm so blessed to have u all. (sic)".
The 27-year-old singer recently postponed her upcoming 'Warrior' world tour, which would see her perform in Hammond, Indiana, on March 15 and Green Bay, Wisconsin, on April 13, following doctor's orders to overcome her issues before focusing on her career again.
She said last month: "I was so looking forward to performing at these dates but I need to follow my doctor's advice and get my health back on track ... I couldn't have done this without you all. I look forward to coming back stronger than ever on the next tour."
Ke$ha checked into rehab on January 3 after admitting she was suffering with anorexia and bulimia.

Justin Bieber storms out over Selena Gomez question

Justin Bieber stormed out of a legal deposition when he was quizzed about Selena Gomez.
The pop star reportedly lost his cool during a four-and-a-half hour deposition in Miami concerning photographer Jeffrey Binion, who claims Justin send his bodyguards to beat him up.
When the snapper's lawyer turned the line of questioning to the 19-year-old singer's on/off ex-girlfriend Selena, TMZ is reporting that things spiralled out of control.
The lawyer repeatedly asked the teen idol whether the former Disney star was present during the alleged incident and Justin's own legal rep, Howard Weitzman, said his client was being harassed.
The 'Baby' hitmaker finally jumped up and left the room, reportedly shouting, "Don't ask me about her, do not ask me about her!"
After taking five minutes to cool off, Justin is said to have been on edge when he returned.
When he responded to a query by saying, "Yeah", the lawyer asked, "Do you mean yes?", to which he scoffed, "What the f**k is the difference between yeah and yes?!"
The sarcastic star remained unimpressed by the cross-examination.
Justin allegedly said, "What is this, '60 Minutes?' " and later quipped, "OK Katie Couric, what's your question again?"
The star is being accused of ordering his bodyguard Hugo Hesny to choke Binion and steal his camera equipment last June outside a Miami recording studio.
The lawyers are expected to cover every paparazzi fight ever as well as the pop pin-up's drug use.
