Britain's Duchess of Cornwall is set to open a £138 million military medical training centre.

Corrie legend Jean Alexander not interested in soap’s storylines

Jean Alexander has stopped watching 'Coronation Street' because she thinks there are too many storylines focused on sex.
The 'Corrie' legend played cleaner Hilda Ogden on the ITV soap for 23 years before quitting in 1987, but she's admitted she no longer watches the show because she's not interested in the character's romantic conquests.
Jean told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "The only stories they seem to have in mind is who is jumping into whose bed next. I lost interest."
The 88-year-old actress also confessed the idea of watching recent storylines such as Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne) cheating on his wife Carla Barlow (Alison King) with Tina McIntyre (Michelle Keegan) or Todd Grimshaw (Bruno Langley) locking lips with Marcus Dent (Charlie Condue) would be enough to make her old character Hilda's hair curl without her famous curlers.
The Liverpool-born star hasn't acted since she left 'Last of the Summer Wine' in 2010 and claims she would never consider returning to the cobbled streets of Weatherfield because she's glad she has time to relax now.
She said: "I can do whatever I want to do now, which has been my ideal ever since I was at school. That suits me now."
Jean is proud, however, of how well-loved her character was, and still is, among fans of the soap.
She added: "I loved playing Hilda. I never envisaged how iconic she would become, but to be able to make her someone so many people recognised was an honour."

Matt Smith is ‘really jealous’ of Peter Capaldi

Matt Smith is "really jealous" of new Doctor Who Peter Capaldi.
The 31-year-old actor who played the Eleventh Doctor in the sci-fi series left the programme after four years playing the titular Time Lord in the 2013 Christmas special and is envious of the 'The Thick of It' star who has taken over the role and the excitement he will be experiencing ahead of his debut series.
Speaking at the recent Calgary Expo panel in Canada, Matt said: "I rang (showrunner) Steven Moffat up the other day and found out everything about the new series. It sounds really good! I was really jealous actually."
He hopes Peter's portrayal isn't "better" than his but insists that every actor who has been cast in the coveted role has a "different" take on the character.
Talking at Wizard World Minneapolis, Matt joked: "Will he be better than me? I hope not."
He added: "He'll be different, and it will be a different show and it will be a new show and that's what 'Doctor Who' is about, and I've got to let it go. And the great thing about it is everyone has their own Doctor. So, hopefully, there's a few eight or nine-year-olds out there who I've claimed."

Katie Price to divorce?

Katie Price claims she is divorcing Kieran Hayler.
The former glamour model - who recently announced she is pregnant with her fifth child, her second with the stripper - has accused her spouse of having an affair with her friend and now wants to end their marriage.
She tweeted: "Sorry to say me and kieran are divorcing him and my best friend jane pountney bee having a full blown sexual affair for 7 months (sic)"
The couple - who have eight-month-old son Jett together - married in January 2013 after just a few months of dating.
Katie - who also has children Harvey, 11, Junior, eight, and Princess, six, from previous relationships - gushed earlier this week about how she is happier than ever with Kieran.
She told Now magazine: "I've never been this happy with anyone before. With me and Kieran it's all about the kids and being together and just having a family. I'm much more chilled - I haven't even had mad pregnancy hormones so I think that must be down to the fact he makes me so happy. He's been with me at the worst times when Jett was born and we thought we'd lose him and then he's been through this. He's a good man."

Kym Marsh asked ‘permission’ to date pal’s ex

Kym Marsh insists she asked Stephanie Waring for permission to date Dan Hooper.
The 'Coronation Street' star was recently blasted by the 'Hollyoaks' actress for romancing her former boyfriend - with who she has three-year-old daughter Lexi - just months after they split, but Kym is "upset" her personal text messages were made public and insists her love rival hasn't told the full story.
She said: "Of course I'm upset. The personal texts that were shown were very selective ones and if anyone had seen the full conversation they might feel a little bit differently.
"What she failed to mention was that I did ask her via text if she wanted me to back off from Dan but she didn't reply.
"I also asked her if she wanted me to go and see her so we could talk about it, but she declined the offer.
"I am gutted she went to a paper instead of taking me up on my offer of chatting face-to-face about it. I actually said to her if she still loved him she should do something about it."
The brunette beauty also insisted she isn't friends with Stephanie and the only contact they had was when they met up at showbiz events.
She added to OK! magazine: "I've been painted as the bad person but I know I've done nothing wrong and neither has Dan.
"It's been made out I'm a really good friend of Stephanie's and that's not the case. Stephanie and I are not friends, she's someone I know because she works at 'Hollyoaks'. I wouldn't know where she lives, I've never been on a night out with her and I've never met her for dinner.
"I've seen her at a few showbiz events and there was one time I saw her in Manchester, but it wasn't like we'd arranged to meet. I've done nothing wrong."

Kiefer Sutherland missed 24 family

Kiefer Sutherland missed his '24' "family" while the show was off air.
The 47-year-old actor is back as fugitive ex-Counter Terrorist Agent Jack Bauer in new series '24: Live Another Day' and he admits when the show ended in 2010 after eight seasons he found it hard to know he wouldn't get to see the friends he had made working on the programme.
Speaking at a special screening of the first episode at Old Billingsgate Market in London on Tuesday night (07.05.14), Kiefer said: "I was fine putting the character to bed but we had worked with the crew for eight years, 98 percent of those people were there from day one to the very end. I think over the course of the eight years 32 children were born and 42 marriages happened. I know it sounds trite but we were a family.
"I went to say goodbye to the camera operator Guy on the last day and we used to have a phrase 'we danced together'. He did some of the most beautiful handheld work I've ever seen in my life and he was like working with a really talented actor and I went to shake his hand I wanted to say, 'It's been an honour.' I'm not a real crier but my lip went and I had to look away and so did he. I miss that, I miss my friends ... I just knew that I wasn't going to be able to see those people everyday; I knew I wasn't going to work with those actors everyday and I think that was the hardest thing for me to let go of and that will always be the thing I missed the most about the show. With regards to the character if I want to pull out some costumes I can do that stuff in my house but I miss the people."
Kiefer admits he was as surprised as anyone when he was told by lead writer Howard Gordon that '24' was coming back.
The action hero was initially worried the new series wouldn't be able to match the show's high standards but he thinks the London-based adventure about a plot to assassinate the US President is the best series ever.
Kiefer - who was joined at the Q&A by his co-stars Mary Lynn Rajskub and Yvonne Strahovski - said: "What's it like having Jack back in my life? Well, surprising would be the first word. We put this to bed for a reason, Howard Gordon our lead writer was tired, he'd written 196 episodes which is an unbelievably prolific amount of work it's almost equivalent to a hundred in an eight-year period, so I was very surprised. I actually called him to congratulate him on his Golden Globe win for 'Homeland' and he said, 'I'm really glad you called, I want to talk to you about something.'
"We had set the bar for ourselves with the eight seasons we had done and the last thing we want to do is damage the legacy of a show you've put to bed. Having said that now we've almost finished I'm so glad that this was the decision we made, it's just been an unbelievable experience. I think we've made the best ever season of '24'."
'24: Live Another Day' starts on Wednesday May 7 at 9pm on Sky 1 HD and Sky 1 +1.

Michael Jackson’s children receive $8 million a year

Michael Jackson's children have been granted a total annual income of $8 million.
The late King of Pop left behind three children when he died of acute Propofol intoxication in 2009 - 17-year-old Prince, 16-year-old Paris and 12-year-old Blanket - and the court that oversees their welfare has now allocated finances for their living expenses.
The expenses for the youngsters, who live with their grandmother Katherine Jackson and their cousin T.J. Jackson in Los Angeles, California, breakdown as $3 million for their school fees, $300,000 for holidays and $600,000 for a personal security team.
The court has also authorised them to spend a further $200,000 a year from their late father's estate on renting a mansion.
In addition to Paris, Prince and Blanket each receiving $15,000 a month in spending money, their legal guardian, Katherine, also receives $1.2 million a year for looking after them.
The value of the 'Thriller' hitmaker's estate has grown from £3.5 million to £400 million since his death five years ago.
The sums have emerged as the mother of Prince and Paris - Debbie Rowe - seeks to gain custody of her children, as well as Blanket, who was born through a surrogate mother.
The former nurse, who was married to the pop star for three years between 1996 and 1999, claims the children's grandmother is "too old" to raise them.

George Clooney wins over fiancee’s family

George Clooney has won over his soon-to-be in-laws.
The 'Monuments Men' star, who got engaged to lawyer Amal Alamuddin last month, has made a good impression on her father Ramzi, who was skeptical when he first learned of their relationship because of his Hollywood status.
A source told RadarOnline.com: "[The family were] scared ... that Amal's accomplishments and education would be neglected in the press - and even by George.
"The family is extremely educated and takes pride in what they've accomplished in life, both in Lebanon and around the world."
The source claims Amal's parents "devoted their lives" to providing the best education possible for their daughter and they were worried that all that could be eclipsed by George's fame.
But now Ramzi has got to know the actor he approves of the 53-year-old star "wholeheartedly" and is said to be a fan.
The source said: "He clearly has the brains to go with his beauty, and he's working hard to prove to them that he deserves a place in their respected family."
Although Ramzi is "not very fond" of the media attention surrounding their engagement, he is happy Amal's accomplishments have been recognised.
The source added: "Her father couldn't be prouder of her and is beyond thrilled that the world now knows her name and what she has done. He jokes that George will become known as Mr. Alamuddin instead of Amal being known as Mrs. Clooney!
"[Amal is] not a gold digger. She has her own money and things going on, and George has told people that's why he knows he can trust her and wants to be with her.
"She isn't going to be arranging paparazzi photos like some of his past girlfriends have done."
Meanwhile, George's close friend Julia Roberts has described the engagement as "sublime".
The 46-year-old actress gushed about his new fiancee during an interview on 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show'.
She said: "I think it is sublime. [Amal] is beautiful and smart and he is happy and that's what matters to me."

Denzel Washington rewards 24 students with $1,000

Denzel Washington generously gave $1,000 each to students who were competing for a scholarship.
The 59-year-old star awarded 24 finalists, from select US cities, who were competing in the August Wilson Monologue Competition a cash prize.
According to the New York Post newspaper, the actor said: "Just don't spend it all tonight."
Competition judges included his wife Pauletta Washington and Stephen McKinley Henderson - who he worked with in famed playwright August Wilson's production 'Fences.'
Boston student Ashley Herbert won the contest after beating regional competitors who travelled to the August Wilson Theatre on Broadway to participate in a weekend devoted to the late American playwright, who died on October 2, 2005, before competing in the final round of the competition.
Denzel previously revealed he feels fortunate to have gone to college and then later acting school because both provided him with the early foundations for his successful Hollywood career, which has seen him win two Academy Awards.
He revealed: "I wanted to carry on with my education, because I realised how important it was. I went to university and acting college. I was in my mid-20s before I started work as an actor. It was something I enjoyed but it was hard to make a living. That's the thing about acting. To be an actor, all you have to do is say you are one. That is perhaps the saddest thing about it. That is why there a lot of angry, frustrated people walking around Hollywood without any training or any work."

Dean McDermott ‘wasn’t attracted’ to one-night stand

Dean McDermott "wasn't attracted" to the woman he had a one-night stand with.
The reality TV star left wife Tori Spelling devastated when he admitted to having sex with Emily Goodhand while on a trip to Toronto last December, and he has now admitted he only slept with her because she "was there".
Speaking during a couple's therapy session on their reality show 'True Tori', he said: "Emily was there. ... I wasn't attracted to her. It was just like a warm body. I felt like I was on autopilot...
"It was an escape, just like drugs and alcohol."
Dean went on to complain about the lack of sex he has with Tori now they have four children, Liam, seven, Stella, five, Hattie, two, and Finn, 20 months.
He said: "We have four kids. In the sex department there are ebbs and flows. ... Do I always want more with you? Absolutely. Every day all day. I'm insatiable.
"Do I want more? Yeah. She has complications from the last pregnancy. Our sex life wasn't awful, but it wasn't stellar."
Tori - who pointed out they had sex the weekend before he slept with Emily - admitted she felt their intimate life was "never enough" for her husband, and was constantly paranoid he would cheat on her as a result.
She said: "It was never enough for you! I wore that guilt all the time thinking he's going to cheat on me. I can never give you enough sex."
Dean insisted he wasn't demanding and they even "pushed it to a month of going without sex sometimes".
The actress broke down in tears and said: "I thought you were really happy with me. ... This really makes me feel bad about myself."
Later in the session, her husband also aired his own insecurities.
He admitted: "I hear once in a while, 'You look handsome.' Every day I tell you I love you and how beautiful you look. I don't feel like you think I'm the cat's ass.
"I feel like a fatass, small d**k...piece of s**t."
The couple's therapist later urged the pair to write letters to one another about their feelings, but in another therapy session, Tori rejects her husband's apology, arguing he feels no remorse.
Her spouse insisted he does, and began shaking as he branded himself and his actions "disgusting".
