Britain's Duchess of Cornwall has made her first public appearance since her brother's funeral.
Camilla put on a brave face yesterday (08.05.14) at the opening of two medical centres for the nation's armed forces, just one week after her brother Mark Shand was laid to rest.
The 62-year-old conservationist tragically passed away last month after sustaining a head injury during a fall in New York. His memorial was held at Holy Trinity Church in Stourpaine, Dorset, on May 1.
The duchess began her official duties at a Royal Air Force base in Leeming, North Yorkshire, where she was greeted by a crowd of eager schoolchildren ahead of opening a £5 million medical centre.
She then headed to open the new £138 million medical training headquarters at the Defence Medical Services Whittington in Staffordshire, where she undertook a tour of the facility and witnessed a special dedication ceremony.
According to the Lichfield Mercury, Camilla said during her speech: "It gives me enormous pleasure to be with you all here today, at Defence Medical Services Whittington, for the dedication of this new, state of the art, medical training facility, which, I know, so many have worked so hard to bring to fruition over the last few years...
"I have seen for myself how tirelessly those in all three medical services strive to achieve the highest possible standards, and I am certain that with the training available here, our Forces will continue to receive the very best medical support."
Before jetting back to London by helicopter, the 66-year-old royal unveiled a commemorative plaque and cut a celebratory cake with Pte Ryan Benson, the youngest person serving at DMS Whittington.

Ola Jordan is returning to 'Strictly Come Dancing'.
The professional dancer is said to have signed up to star in the new series of the BBC One ballroom dancing contest, despite reportedly threatening to quit last year because she felt "bullied" by fellow dancer Karen Hauer.
Her husband and co-star, dancer James Jordan, is expected to follow suit.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "Losing her would have been a blow. Now they hope James will follow her lead."
Ola's spokesperson revealed she had been "verbally attacked" and deeply upset during a showdown with Karen last November, with the brunette allegedly branding her a "rubbish dancer".
Show bosses forced Karen to apologise to Ola after the incident, but the 31-year-old blonde's future on the show was left on uncertain terms.
James then posted a cryptic message on Twitter last December, calling for a shake-up of the current judging panel, made up of Len Goodman, Bruno Tonioli, Craig Revel Horwood and Darcey Bussell.
He wrote: "Maybe instead of always looking to change the amazing pro dancers. I think it's about time they have more judges from the ballroom world!"
A 'Strictly' spokesperson has claimed this year's professional dancer line-up has yet to be finalised.
They said: "Discussions are on-going with all professional dancers for Strictly's next series, and the line-up will be announced in due course."

Hugh Jackman has been treated for skin cancer again.
The 'Wolverine' actor - who had cancerous cells removed last November - has urged fans to protect themselves from the damaging rays of the sun after undergoing a proecudure to remove a Basel Cell Carsinoma (BCC).
Posting a picture on Instagram showing his bandaged nose, he wrote: "Another Basel Cell Carsinoma. All out now. Thanks Dr. Albom and Dr. Arian. PLEASE! PLEASE! WEAR SUNSCREEN! (sic).
"Huge thanks to Dr. Arian and Dr. Born for operating on my nose until 10:20pm! #SUNSCREEN (sic)"
BCC is a treatable and common form of skin cancer signified by lesions or growths on the outermost layer of the skin that "often look like open sores, red patches, pink growths, shiny bumps, or scars" and are "usually caused by a combination of cumulative UV exposure and intense, occasional UV exposure, the Skin Cancer Foundation says.
Although it generally doesn't spread, the organisation warn that it can be disfiguring if not treated quickly.
The 45-year-old actor was first treated for the disease last year after wife Deborra-Lee Furness - with who he has children Oscar, 13, and Ava, seven, - urged him to get a "mark" on his nose checked out.
He tweeted: ''Boy, was she right! I had basil cell carcinoma.
''Please don't be foolish like me. Get yourself checked. And USE sunscreen!!! (sic)''

Angelina Jolie says taking her children to work made her "stressed".
The 'Maleficent' actress and her fiance Brad Pitt agreed to allow their six kids, Maddox, 12, Pax, 10, Zahara, nine, Shiloh, seven, and twins Vivienne and Knox, five, to visit them while making movies, but wanted them to have an honest portrayal of what life is like on a film set.
However, after just two days with the kids close by, the couple wanted the children to find new ways to entertain themselves.
She said: "Brad and I made the decision that we wouldn't keep them from sets and the fun of making movies, but we wouldn't [glorify it either].
"We wouldn't make it a good thing or a bad thing. But I would really prefer they do something else. After two days of it, Brad and I were so stressed we never wanted to do it again."
Angelina's youngest daughter appears in 'Maleficent' as young Princess Aurora and the actress thought she was perfect for the role as Vivienne is so devoted to her, she wouldn't be intimidated by her scary character.
Angelina explained to the new edition of America's Elle magazine: "For young Aurora, they needed a child who wouldn't be fazed by the Mistress of All Evil hissing, 'I don't like children' in her face.
"And my little Vivienne - we call her my shadow, because there's nothing I can do to shake her. I can be tired, I can be grumpy, I can be in a terrible mood, and she doesn't care. It's 'Mommy, Mommy,' and she'll cling to me.
"We knew that she would still do that thing, she'd still smile at me and insist that I pick her up. So we couldn't really cast anybody else."
The role was initially offered to the couple's older daughter Shiloh, but the tomboy insisted she would rather play a "horned creature" instead.
Angelina added: "I asked Shiloh about being Aurora, and she laughed in my face."

Courtney Love turned down a night with Russell Brand.
The 49-year-old rocker - who was famously married to late Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain until his death in 1994 - has claimed she spurned the comedian's advances because of his "musky" stench.
Appearing on British talk show 'Alan Carr: Chatty Man', which airs tonight (09.05.14), she recalled: "When we were friends, he tried to hit on me. He goes, 'I have had a lot of grand conversations, darling, but none of them have ended in an orgasm. Can we go in a room?'
"I said to him, 'Russell, you are too musky for me, man.' He is a little musky. We did yoga together and the musk was there."
While Courtney refused to be a notch on Russell's list of sexual conquests, the pair remain friendly and she even thinks of him as a British "national treasure".
The star added: "I do think he is a national treasure. God, I wish I was as good as him. He flirts with men openly too."
While the Hole singer wasn't won over by Russell, she has previously fallen for the charms of another British comedian, 'Alan Partridge' creator Steve Coogan, admitting she was smitten with him because of his portrayal of Factory Records boss Tony Wilson in 2002 movie '24 Hour Party People'.
Speaking some time after their fling, she has previously said: "All it was, was a couple of sh**s at the Sunset Marquis [hotel in Los Angeles,] and I did not know he was Alan Partridge.
"I thought he was Tony Wilson in '24 Hour Party People' - somebody I'd always had a daddy thing for. I had never seen 'Alan Partridge'. But I was in a band with people who did know about Alan Partridge, so I had to make a record with them constantly saying to me, 'Back of the net!' "
Russell, 39, was wed to 'Roar' hitmaker Katy Perry between 2010 and 2012, and is currently dating Jemima Khan.

Antonio Banderas says fighting comes "naturally" to him.
The 53-year-old actor, who plays Galgo in 'The Expendables 3', insists it was easy for him to slip into character and his love of sport helps in action roles which require "certain abilities".
Talking to collider.com, he explained: "I have a rifle, and I use a lot of fighting skills that I learned years ago. I tried to do as much as I could. I have certain abilities. I think I am good in the department of body language and fighting, and stuff like that.
"It's just natural to me, maybe because I love sports. As long as you have a good choreographer for that, and we did, it's relatively easy to get into that world, for me."
Banderas admits he questions the roles he gets as he ages but, at the same time, he enjoys taking on the challenge.
He added: "You have to be in good shape, basically. And then, you have to have a certain craziness, if you're going to do some of the action things. I did something that I shouldn't have done. I'm in my 60s now, and just running almost 50 meters with explosives going on, it was kind of like, 'Oh, my god! What am I doing here?' The whole entire building was shaking, and stuff like that.
"But, you do it. At the same time, I just wanna do it if I have the possibility of laughing a little bit at myself."

Emmerdale's Cain Dingle will turn into a "Bridezilla".
Jeff Hordley plays the character who is set to tie the knot to Moira Barton (Natalie J. Robb) on May 15 and insists his character has been stepping out his "comfort zone" to help plan the wedding and has become a controlling groom-to-be.
The actor explained: "This is all new territory for Cain, and it's quite nice to see him out of his comfort zone. He's been organising the wedding - something he's never done before - so he's turned into a bit of a Bridezilla!"
Jeff has hinted the big day might not run smoothly afterall and insisted there is always "trouble" at soap weddings since viewers enjoy watching drama unfold.
He told InsideSoap magazine: "If you get the right storyline and the right characters together, then the viewers will invest in their journey. Births, marriages and deaths all attract an audience. Families are bought together at a wedding, so there's always trouble - and everybody likes a good punch up, don't they?"
Cain and Moira's romance kicked off in 2011, when she was still married to her late husband John (James Thornton), while Cain was previously jilted by Charity (Emma Atkins).

Anton Du Beke joined 'Strictly Come Dancing' because of Sir Bruce Forsyth.
The professional dancer has appeared on the show alongside the 86-year-old presenter since it began in 2004 and admitted that Bruce - who has now retired from the series - was one of the main reasons behind his decision to take part.
Anton described his friendship with Sir Bruce as an "honour" and insists they will remain friends even now he is no longer on the programme.
The 47-year-old star exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "Well I love him because one of the reasons in the early days for me to do 'Strictly Come Dancing' was because Bruce Forsyth was hosting it. What's lovely for me is that I've become friends with Brucie, we play a lot of golf and I spend a bit of time with him. And that for me is an honour and a treat. It's one of those things in life that I couldn't really wish for."
He added: "I've been very lucky that I've spent time with Brucie and of course I'm going to miss him but he's still my friend and I'm still going to see him. I'll still continue to lose money to him on the golf course."
Although Anton - who can be seen on Channel 4's new game show 'Draw It!' tonight (09.05.14) - is yet to be informed by producers if he is returning to the series this year, he admitted he would consider hanging up his dance shoes to follow in Bruce's footsteps and co-host the show if the opportunity were to present itself.
When asked if he would like to host the series with Tess Daly, he said: "I just wait for the phone to ring and see what they offer me. I don't really give it any thought and then you're never disappointed. It's like all these things unfortunately - it's sort of out of my hands.
"I found that in my life as a dancer and competitor you can only control the things you are involved in. The show is the show and on it goes."

Metallica say deciding to headline Glastonbury was a "no-brainer".
The heavy metal band have been confirmed as the third and final festival headliner, joining Kasabian and Arcade Fire on Worthy Farm's Pyramid Stage, and claim they jumped at the chance to close the line-up on Saturday, June 28.
Drummer Lars Ulrich told Zane Lowe during a BBC Radio 1 interview: "To be honest with you, we didn't sit around and have a big conversation when the call came.
"In Metallica we have a saying called a 'no-brainer'. Headlining Glastonbury is a no-brainer. We didn't need to sit around thinking about the pros and cons."
The group are the first metal band to ever headline the festival in its 44-year history and fans have had mixed reactions to the announcement.
One wrote on Twitter, "Glastonbury is probably the only festival that could have Beyonce headline one year and Metallica another", while another far less enthusiastic festival-goer lamented, "Buzzing for Metallica at Glastonbury. Said no one ever."
But Lars is confident the band can convert new fans with their aggressive, thrash metal sound and will do their best to appeal to the masses.
He said: "Trust your friendly neighbourhood Metallica, we'll put something suitable together. It's great that, 32 years into our career, we're still able to knock down doors - doors we didn't think were open to us."
Metallica - who were rumoured to be headling earlier this month - made the announcement last night (08.05.14) by writing on Twitter: "Worst kept secret in rock and roll is now confirmed... see you at @GlastoFest on June 28th! #MetOnTour."
Meanwhile, Skrillex, Jake Bugg and Massive Attack have also been confirmed to play on the Other Stage.

Katie Price has banished Kieran Hayler to a log cabin at the bottom of her garden.
The glamour model is punishing her husband by making him sleep in the shed at the edge of her £2.5 million home after discovering he was having a "full blown sexual affair" with her married best friend, Jane Pountney.
Kieran - who is the father of her nine-month-old son Jett as well as the pregnant star's unborn baby - has been subjected to a worse fate than Katie's former exes since she moved both Alex Reid and Leandro Penna to plush guest bedrooms following the breakdown of their relationships.
An insider told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "Katie had the cabin built for [her 12-year-old son] Harvey for when he grows up. But now she has suggested Kieran stays there while she figures everything out.
"In the end, she ended up throwing Leo and Alex out, but at the moment it looks like Kieran is getting the long stay car park treatment for now.
"She is feeling very vulnerable and is at a real loss. It is all so sad. By having Kieran in the log cabin, it gives her the space to sort her head out and keep tabs on what he is doing."
Meanwhile, Katie - who is also a mother to Junior, seven, and six-year-old Princess Tiaamii - is determined to divorce the builder after discovering he might have had a second fling with none other than Prince Harry's on/off girlfriend Cressida Bonas' cousin.
The 35-year-old reality star confronted Kieran's ex April Bonas over the phone about rumours she had cheated with him just days before the couple's romantic beach wedding last year.
A friend told The Sun newspaper: "Katie and April spoke on the phone and she asked outright if she had slept with Kieran while they were together.
"April admitted they'd had a fling in the past, but was adamant that nothing had happened during Kieran's relationship with Katie.
"Katie quizzed April about everything she knew about what Kieran was doing before their wedding."
Kieran has reportedly reached out to Jane's husband Derrick Pountney - who has claimed the infidelity was just a "storm in a teacup" - for help persuading Katie to forgive him.
