Prince Charles’ chickens killed by fox

Britain's Prince Charles' chickens have been slaughtered.
The 65-year-old royal was forced to temporarily close his Close Farm organic egg business in Tetbury, Gloucestershire, after a fox attacked his chicken coop, killing 24 of his prize birds.
The thrifty heir to the throne - who also owns farms in Windsor, London and Bath - is passionate about organic produce and sells the produce in the farms' shops.
According to the MailOnline, egg enthusiasts in Tetbury were dismayed when they were greeted by a sign informing them they would have to get their protein elsewhere.
The message read: "Dear Customers, The fox killed 24 of our chickens now the rest of the surviving chickens have been brought to a more secure location. This will mean no more eggs to sell, sorry, regards."
This will no doubt come as a blow to the Prince of Wales, who invested around £100,000 in his organic retail business when he moved it from his nearby Highgrove Estate to Tetbury.
His home delivery Veg Shed initiative also shut down last year after the cold spring ruined the vegetable crop, and he has yet to revive it.
However, his Duchy Originals brand - which he founded in 1990 - has proved popular since it partnered with a Waitrose in 2009, with £2.8 million of all profits going to charity each year.

The Only Way is Essex for Queen Elizabeth

Britain's Queen Elizabeth got a taste of the Essex lifestyle yesterday (06.05.14).
The monarch and her husband Prince Philip took part in a 650-strong service at Chelmsford's cathedral church of St Mary the Virgin, St Peter and St Cedd, where the reverend joked about ITV2 reality show 'The Only Way is Essex', famed for its fake tans and nightlife.
During the service, which celebrated 100 years of the diocese, the Right Reverend Stephen Cottrell said: "Created to solve the pressing challenge of massive population growth and urbanisation in east London we are, as one experienced priest put it: 'the most complicated and diverse diocese in the English Church'.
"We serve the most rural, the most urban, the most coastal, and I wish to add, the most glorious diocese in the Church of England. You name it; here in the Diocese of Chelmsford, we've got it. "
"Yes, you could even say, the only way is Essex, but I want to tell you about a better way and its roots in this old county - the way of Jesus Christ."
The Daily Express newspaper reports the 88-year-old ruler and Philip, 92, also paid a visit to Felsted School to unveil a plaque commemorating the school's 450th anniversary and another marking the completion of a new boarding house.
The royals have a strong connection to the establishment since the late Queen Mother attended its 400th anniversary celebrations back in the 60s and former pupil Sir Marcus Setchell helped deliver Prince George last year.

Duchess of Cornwall to open military medical centre

Britain's Duchess of Cornwall is set to open a £138 million military medical training centre.
The royal will pay a visit to Staffordshire in the West Midlands tomorrow (08.05.14) to celebrate the unveiling of the new Defence Medical Services headquarters in Whittington, which has been six years in the making.
Surgeon Captain Stuart Millar, Commander of Defence Medical Services (Whittington), told the Tamworth Herald: "I am extremely pleased to be able to welcome HRH The Duchess of Cornwall to the new home of our organisation, where we will provide the Defence medical community with the training required to ensure that the best possible medical care continues to be afforded to our customer; the man or woman in harm's way, going into harm's way or returned from harm's way who has call on DMS delivered healthcare."
All medical, dental, nursing, health professional, paramedical and support personnel employed by the three Armed Services will now be represented under one roof.
Camilla is due to take a tour of the centre before attending an official reception hosted by the Surgeon General, Air Marshal Paul Evans, and unveiling a commemorative plaque in a special ceremony.
The duchess has been Commodore-in-Chief, Royal Naval Medical Services since 2006.

Corrie legend Jean Alexander not interested in soap’s storylines

Jean Alexander has stopped watching 'Coronation Street' because she thinks there are too many storylines focused on sex.
The 'Corrie' legend played cleaner Hilda Ogden on the ITV soap for 23 years before quitting in 1987, but she's admitted she no longer watches the show because she's not interested in the character's romantic conquests.
Jean told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "The only stories they seem to have in mind is who is jumping into whose bed next. I lost interest."
The 88-year-old actress also confessed the idea of watching recent storylines such as Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne) cheating on his wife Carla Barlow (Alison King) with Tina McIntyre (Michelle Keegan) or Todd Grimshaw (Bruno Langley) locking lips with Marcus Dent (Charlie Condue) would be enough to make her old character Hilda's hair curl without her famous curlers.
The Liverpool-born star hasn't acted since she left 'Last of the Summer Wine' in 2010 and claims she would never consider returning to the cobbled streets of Weatherfield because she's glad she has time to relax now.
She said: "I can do whatever I want to do now, which has been my ideal ever since I was at school. That suits me now."
Jean is proud, however, of how well-loved her character was, and still is, among fans of the soap.
She added: "I loved playing Hilda. I never envisaged how iconic she would become, but to be able to make her someone so many people recognised was an honour."

Matt Smith is ‘really jealous’ of Peter Capaldi

Matt Smith is "really jealous" of new Doctor Who Peter Capaldi.
The 31-year-old actor who played the Eleventh Doctor in the sci-fi series left the programme after four years playing the titular Time Lord in the 2013 Christmas special and is envious of the 'The Thick of It' star who has taken over the role and the excitement he will be experiencing ahead of his debut series.
Speaking at the recent Calgary Expo panel in Canada, Matt said: "I rang (showrunner) Steven Moffat up the other day and found out everything about the new series. It sounds really good! I was really jealous actually."
He hopes Peter's portrayal isn't "better" than his but insists that every actor who has been cast in the coveted role has a "different" take on the character.
Talking at Wizard World Minneapolis, Matt joked: "Will he be better than me? I hope not."
He added: "He'll be different, and it will be a different show and it will be a new show and that's what 'Doctor Who' is about, and I've got to let it go. And the great thing about it is everyone has their own Doctor. So, hopefully, there's a few eight or nine-year-olds out there who I've claimed."
