A message on the 71-year-old star's website states that doctors have ordered him to have a "complete rest".
Promoters Kyodo Tokyo said in a statement that Paul "will regrettably have to cancel the remaining Japanese shows. Paul is still not feeling better and this cancellation is unavoidable".
The star is reportedly "upset" about the situation as "he has only ever had to reschedule a handful of shows in his entire career" and hates disappointing fans.
A statement from Paul on his website reads: "Thank you so much for your kind messages of support.

The singer is still scheduled to perform a concert in Seoul, South Korea, on May 28, followed by 19 performances in America.
Prince Harry visited the Colosseum in Italy yesterday (19.05.14).
The flame-haired royal surprised a group of American and Canadian tourists at the historical landmark as he joined them for a guided tour before ending his two-day visit to Rome.
Harry's guide explained the history of the famous building - which was built between 70 and 80 AD and hosted gladiatorial combats, animal hunts and shows for the Roman emperors - to his royal client.
The Prince received a welcome similar to that of a Roman ruler himself as his appearance at the Colosseum prompted cheers from eager-eyed travellers who spotted him from the higher galleries of the ancient stadium.
Speaking about their encounter with Harry, The Quenneville family from Canada told ITV News: "It was the highlight of our visit. It was crazy. It was unbelievable. Better than the Colosseum."
Following his visit to the iconic building Harry stopped off at a number of other tourist spots including the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon and Aventine Hill before making his way to the airport.
The 29-year-old Prince was in the capital city to attend a commemorative service for fallen and veteran soldiers from New Zealand who fought in the World War II battle at Monte Cassino.

She said: "We did it ... we made a girl!

The 'Whole Again' singer, 31 - who became romantically involved with Ritchie during the filming of ITV's reality show 'The Big Reunion' last year - even hinted that an engagement may soon be on the cards for the pair.
Speaking in the new issue of OK! magazine, she said: "I'm just waiting for the wedding ring now, to be honest."
Ritchie, 34, also spoke about his excitement at hearing the news but confessed he's worried about becoming an over-protective father.
He said: "I was shell-shocked and like, 'Oh s**t, I'm going to have to be a protective dad. What if she brings and idiot back when she's 18?'
"A boy was going to be a lot easier - what am I meant to do with a girl?"
Natasha - who announced her pregnancy just last month - has also revealed she suffers from a severe anxiety disorder which was recently exacerbated when she feared she had gone into premature labour.
She said: "I was in so much pain, my belly was tightening. It was frightening - water infections can trigger premature labour - but luckily I caught it just in time."
Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are treating their wedding guests to a private tour of the Palace of Versailles.
The couple - who were refused permission to marry at the Paris landmark - will be joined by friends and family members to visit such sights as the Hall of Mirrors, the King's Grand Apartments and formal gardens with fountains and water attractions on Friday (23.05.14), the day before they tie the knot.
An official statement from the couple and officials at the palace said: "Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have decided to let their guests discover the Château of Versailles during a private surprise tour on Friday, May 23, the eve of their wedding."
Before the tour, fashion designer Valentino Garavani will host a brunch for the couple and a few friends and family members at his 17th-century Château de Wideville, which is situated just outside Paris.
According to the New York Post newspaper, the wedding guests will then be flown via private jet to Florence, Italy, for the big day on Saturday (24.05.14), which will take place at Fort Belvedere.
Everyone attending the nuptials will receive special mobile phones, as their regular handsets will be taken away, and personal security.
Meanwhile, 'Video Games' hitmaker Lana Del Rey - who turned down a request to perform at Kanye's lavish proposal last October - has reportedly agreed a six-figure pay deal to perform Kim's favourite song ' Young and Beautiful' at the wedding.
A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "Kanye knew how much Kim loved Lana's music, which is why he tried to get her to perform at the proposal.
"So he upped the offer to perform at the wedding and told Lana that it's his and Kim's special song and it would mean so much to have her perform it. She couldn't say no."
The wedding is not being filmed for Kim's reality show 'Keeping Up with the Kardashians', and though the Friday brunch is expected to be covered on Vogue's website, the magazine will not carry any of the wedding pictures.
Ciara has given birth to a baby boy.
The 'Goodies' hitmaker and her fiancé Future welcomed a son into the world "very early" on Monday (19.05.14) morning in Los Angeles, the New York Post newspaper's Page Six column reports.
The baby is Ciara's first child, and Future's fourth.
While the tot's name has not yet been revealed, the 28-year-old singer recently admitted she and her fiancé had already selected a moniker for their son.
She explained: "I went with what felt right in my soul and my gut. I didn't second guess it."
The 'Body Party' star also admitted her pregnancy has been "very easy".
She said: "I didn't even know what to expect [with the pregnancy], but it's been a very easy process. And it's been so much fun. Honestly, it's been the coolest experience in my life.
"Being able to know that I can do that is such a blessing. I'm literally obsessed with kids, so I'm excited about being able to have my own to obsess over."
The blonde beauty has been getting mothering tips from her friend Kim Kardashian, who gave birth to her daughter North last June, and she's found their conversations useful.
She said: "We [go] over really personal stuff from the woman's side of things. We've had great conversations and it's been really cool."
Cheryl Cole is meeting with film bosses in Cannes.
The 'Promise This' singer - who recently agreed a deal to return as a judge on the UK version of 'The X Factor' - wants to break into Hollywood so has been trying her luck at the Cannes Film Festival in the south of France, where she hopes to impress big shot producers with her natural charm.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "Cheryl is meeting with studio bosses in Cannes. The festival is the perfect place to meet properly and talk about some of the offers on the table.
"She's considering a career on the big screen, of course, but only if the part is right. She wouldn't go into anything lightly and would make sure she was fully trained and prepped for the job.
"The problem is now that she has another record ready for release and is back on 'The X Factor' as a judge, any film work would have to be after that."
Cheryl is apparently eyeing up a role in an independent film so she can "challenge" herself.
The 30-year-old beauty has been dressing to impress on the red carpet at the star-studded film festival. She donned thousands of pounds worth of jewellery from De Grisogono with a strapless Monique Lhuillier dress to the red carpet of 'Foxcatcher'.
The 'Fight For This Love' star posed for photo opportunities with fellow L'OREAL spokesmodel Eva Longoria.
Naomi Campbell and Jeremy Piven were "inseparable" at a BAFTA afterparty on Sunday (18.05.14).
The supermodel, who was also recently linked to actor Michael Fassbender, spent the night chatting to the 'Mr Selfridge' star, 48, at London's Grosvenor House Hotel.
Witnesses told The Sun newspaper the actor was making eyes at Naomi, 43, and the pair were "inseparable" throughout the night and were seen sneaking off to the VIP smoking area on a number of occasions.
American star Jeremy was in good spirits and later said: "It's been a fun night enjoying the best that Britain has to offer."
The actor has been romantically linked to a number of beauties recently, including model Kelly Brook and singer Alexandra Burke, and he was also spotted flirting with model Nina Agdal last month.
Meanwhile, Naomi - who split from longterm boyfriend Vladimir Doronin a year ago - and '12 Years A Slave' actor Michael were rumoured to have been spotted kissing on a date recently.
Earlier on in the night, the supermodel presented a BAFTA at the ceremony at London's Theatre Royal and strutted up the red carpet in a stunning grey floor-sweeping gown.
The brunette beauty wore her long hair down and straight and impressed in the flesh-baring cut-out number by designer Roberto Cavalli.
Hugh Jackman wants 'Wolverine' to join 'The Avengers'.
The 45-year-old actor has played the Marvel comic-book character for over ten years in films including 'X-men', 'X-Men Origins: Wolverine' and currently in 'X-Men: Days of Future Past', but he's now confessed his dream superhero movie would be for Wolverine to join characters such as Iron Man and Captain America in a sequel to 'The Avengers'.
He said: "I would love to see him as part of The Avengers because there's a great dysfunction among that team and I think Wolverine would fit right into that. He'd like that."
The 'Les Misérables' star also admitted that if Wolverine had to do battle with one of The Avengers before joining the group, he'd definitely come to blows with The Incredible Hulk, although he thinks the green giant would defeat his character.
He told IGN.com: "There's no doubt he'd get in a fight with Hulk at some point. Those two bad, rage-filled characters are going to square off at some point.
"It would be quite fun. I don't know how much fun to shoot it because I'm sure I'd be on the worst end of it, but hey, he can heal."
Maroon 5 will release their new album 'V' in September.
The 'Moves Like Jagger' hitmakers have spent the last year recording material for their fifth album in Los Angeles, California and they've now announced that it will be available later this year...
Louie Spence says Conchita Wurst won Eurovision for her vocals, not her appearance.
While the drag queen won over the masses with her beard and ball gown when she represented Austria in the song contest earlier this month, the former 'Pineapple Dance Studios' star believes Conchita deserved to win because of her "great" singing voice and not just because of her daring look.
He said: "In fairness to Conchita, the song was good. It was uplifting and she had a good voice. It wasn't like she was just some drag queen who went out there and sung some kind of crap.
"She had great vocals, it was a good song and she lived every moment of it. She was full of drama."
Flamboyant Louie - who appears on Channel 4 game show 'Draw It!' this week - is open about his own sexuality and admits that although he isn't interested in campaigning for equal rights for the gay community himself, he is happy to see Conchita - whose real name is Thomas Neuwirth - strive for equality and represent a "minority".
He said: "People have different cultures. I'm not an activist in that way. I live my life how I live my life, I'm very open about who I am, and if people don't accept me then they're not a part of my life.
"I do think it's a good thing for any kind of minority, whether it be gay, lesbian, transgender etc., though."
'Draw It!' airs weekdays at 4.30pm on Channel 4.
Matt Le Blanc is "cool" with being ridiculed on 'Episodes'.
The 'Former' friends star has been praised for being good-humoured about jibes about his weight and age on the comedy show, in which he plays an exaggerated version of himself.
Co-star Stephen Mangan exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "He is really cool. He's more cool in a way, [because] you think, how cool you have to be to deal with a show which holds you up to that much ridicule.
"Everyone knows it's not really him but at the same time, especially in this [new] series, [there's] a lot of jokes about him being too old, too fat and past it, and you've got to have a pretty good sense of humour about yourself. I can't think that there are many actors that would do that, so it really shows the good guy he is."
The first series of 'Episodes' centres on a hit British comedy being remade in the US, and Stephen, 41, feels the abundance of home-grown shows being remade around the world is a testament to the talent to come out of the UK.
He explained: "It just shows what talent we have in this country, generating ideas."
Meanwhile, the actor has dismissed the idea of a movie follow-up to 'Episodes', which also stars Tamsin Greig.
He added: "I don't think so. It is very hard, because spin-off movies with comedy shows very rarely work. I think it suits that half-hour format, but I don't mind an hour version of it."
'Episodes' airs Wednesdays at 10pm on BBC Two.
Stephen's new film 'Postman Pat' is out on May 23.
George Clooney has asked Matt Damon to be his best man.
The 53-year-old star proposed to his girlfriend Amal Alamuddin last month and although rumours had suggested he was planning to ask Brad Pitt to be his best man, it's now been revealed that he's chosen his 'The Monuments Men' co-star instead.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "A lot of people thought Brad was a certainty to be George's best man as they have been such good friends for years. But he is probably even closer to Matt.
"Besides many years ago, during one drunken night together, George made a promise to Matt that he would make him his best man if he ever got married - so Matt called to claim his prize."
However, as 50-year-old Brad worked with Matt, 43, and George on 'Ocean's Eleven' and it's sequels, it's thought that the hunk will be there to support both of his pals.
The source added: "Brad took the news with good grace - but he did say he'd heckle Matt during his speech."
Meanwhile, George is reportedly planning to throw his British lawyer fiancée the wedding of her dreams either at his home in Lake Como, Italy or Cabo San Lucas in Mexico, before relocating to London so that she can continue her work as a barrister at the Doughty Street Chambers.
