David Schwimmer helps police solve stabbing

David Schwimmer helped police officers solve a stabbing.
The former 'Friends' star aided officials in investigating a dramatic robbery gone wrong that took place next door to his $4 million home in New York's East Village on Monday morning (26.05.14) by allowing them to review footage captured by his security cameras.
The cameras caught the end of an altercation between David's 26-year-old male neighbour, a transgender prostitute the man had solicited and robber Robert Rainey, 21, who allegedly broke into the man's home and attempted to steal his laptop.
According to the New York Daily News, the 26-year-old man was having sex with the prostitute in his bathroom - which adjoins David's apartment - when he heard an intruder in his house. The affray spilled outside when the man chased the thief with a box cutter, but Rainey managed to wrestle it away from him and slashed the man across the face.
An onlooker said: "It started inside and spilled out into the street. There was blood everywhere."
Another eyewitness heard the victim shout, "He sliced me up!", reports the New York Post newspaper.
In a bizarre twist, it's claimed the prostitute may have been in cahoots with the robber and pepper-sprayed her client before running away.
Officers noticed David, 47, had cameras outside his home and the actor - famous for playing Ross Gellar - was happy to accommodate them by allowing them to view the footage to build a case against Rainey.
The thief was detained and charged with robbery, assault and criminal possession of stolen property.

Seth Rogen slams film critic for shootings article

Seth Rogen has slammed a film critic for claiming movies like 'Neighbors' motivated shooting suspect Elliot Rodger.
The actor, who appeared in the movie alongside Zac Efron, has hit out at Washington Post writer Ann Hornaday, who suggested in a recent article that "outsized frat-boy fantasies" like the film encouraged the Santa Barbara suspect, who left six people dead and 13 injured last week in a deadly rampage, after he revealed he was tired of being ignored by girls at college.
Rogen took to Twitter to call out the writer today (27.05.14), posting: "@AnnHornaday I find your article horribly insulting and misinformed.
"How dare you imply that me getting girls in movies caused a lunatic to go on a rampage. (sic)"
Hornaday wrote in her article: "How many students watch outsized frat-boy fantasies like 'Neighbors' and feel, as Rodger did, unjustly shut out of college life that should be full of 'sex and fun and please?' How many men, raised on a steady diet of Judd Apatow comedies in which the shlubby arrested adolescent always gets the girl, find that those happy endings constantly elude them and conclude, 'It's not fair'?
"Movies may not reflect reality, but they powerfully condition what we desire, expect and feel we deserve from it."
Hornaday went on to write: "If our cinematic grammar is one of violence, sexual conquest and macho swagger - thanks to make studio executives - who green-light projects according to their own pathetic predilections - no-one should be surprised when those impulses take luridly literal form in the culture at large."
According to the Hollywood Reporter, director and producer Apatow, who worked on 'Bridesmaids' and 'Knocked Up', has also responded to the article, calling it "self promotional" and "idiotic."
He added: "Why is it always everything else but mental illness?"
Elliot, 22, who is the son of 'Hunger Games' second unit director Peter Rodger, detailed his chilling plans to murder women in a 141-page manifesto and committed suicide after the killings.

Rolling Stones play first gig since L’Wren’s death

The Rolling Stones have played their first gig since the death of Mick Jagger's girlfriend L'Wren Scott.
The 'Brown Sugar' hitmakers, also made up of Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood and Charlie Watts, resumed their '14 On Fire Tour' after giving Mick time to grieve following fashion designer L'Wren's suicide two months ago.
They took to the stage in Norway last night (26.05.14) playing in front of 23,000 people at Oslo's Telenor Arena, the band's first show in the country since 2007.
Speaking before the gig, former Stones member Mick Taylor told The Sun newspaper: "We're all looking forward to it but we're a bit nervous. Mainly nervous for Mick," adding, "We need to get the wheels turning again."
But the legendary rockers had nothing to worry as the crowd went wild when Mick launched into 'Jumpin' Jack Flash', and the band powered through hits including 'It's Only Rock 'n' Roll', 'Honky Tonk Woman', 'Paint It Black', 'Midnight Rambler', 'Miss You' and 'Gimme Shelter'.
Mick, 70, asked the audience: "Are you feeling good, Oslo? Are you sure?"
Meanwhile, it was a day of celebration for Ronnie, who became a grandfather for the eighth time after his daughter Leah Wood gave birth to a baby boy, and he paid tribute to the new baby on stage, by coming out rocking his arms as if he was cradling the newborn.
He also congratulated Leah, along with husband Jack MacDonald and their four-year-old daughter Maggie, in a post on Twitter.
Ronnie, 66, tweeted: "Congratulations to my daughter @MsLeahWood and Jack & Maggie - Baby Otis Sonny David MacDonald was born today! (sic)"

EastEnders’ Bianca in showdown with Nikki

EastEnders' Bianca Butcher will have a furious showdown with Nikki Spraggan on her parents' wedding day.
The fiery Walford character - played by Patsy Palmer - will confront her former love rival about her secret kiss with Bianca's dad, David Wicks (Michael French), in January.
The showdown couldn't come at a worse time, however, as the day marks the wedding of David and Bianca's mum Carol Jackson (Lindsey Coulson).
Bianca shoves Nikki (Rachel Wilde) into a pile of rubbish bags and questions her father's motives, even insisting he shouldn't go through with the wedding.
Lindsey told Inside Soap magazine: "If Carol knew what's gone on between David and Nikki, she'd feel so angry about having opened up her heart to him again."
Viewers will also be left to wonder if seemingly reformed lothario David will go through with the wedding as he disappears for hours on the big day under the guise of finding something blue for Carol to wear at the wedding ceremony.
Lindsey adds: "Carol starts to think, 'Of course he's going to stand me up - this is what he does!' She's angry with herself for believing that he'd actually go through with it."
The scenes air tonight on 'EastEnders' on BBC One.

Cara Dillon: I’m flattered by Kate Bush comments

Singer Cara Dillon is flattered that people compare her to Kate Bush.
The 38-year-old folk singer is a big fan of the 'Wuthering Heights' himaker and couldn't wait to get tickets for her first live shows in 35 years at London's Hammersmith Apollo later this year.
Talking about people comparing her to the star, Cara told BANG Showbiz: "Oh my God, I'm like Kate Bush's number one fan, so that is such a compliment.
"Maybe it might be because it's not conventional [what she sings] and it's quite soul-stirring. The songs I tend to sing are ones which have stood the test of time and I think you can hear that, I'm telling people stories using my voice.
"Kate's an amazing woman, she's back [and] I've got my ticket.
"I loved the fact that she never really compromised anything that she was doing, she just did it herself. The kind of things she was singing about were incredible really, I think she's an inspiration to most female artists out there and paved the way for a lot of people."
Meanwhile, Cara, who has released her new album 'A Thousand Hearts', has also been overwhelmed by praise from 'Sing' hitmaker Ed Sheeran on Twitter this month.
He posted: "Listening to @caradillonsings new album and it's sublime, heavily recommend to anyone (sic)."
He added: "@caradillonsings loved every single album you've put out, they are always my main home playlist x (sic)."
Cara said she was "totally and utterly honoyred" by his comments.
She tweeted back: "@edsheeran wow! You've just blown my mind. What else can I say (sic)."
Discussing her new record, she also said: "You make the music you want to make and you just hope that enough people hear it and get it."
Cara's new album is out now.

Syringe used by Peaches Geldof found in drawer

A syringe used by Peaches Geldof to inject heroin before she died was found in a drawer at her home.
The needle was discovered by police who searched the late socialite's house in Wrotham, Kent, where she was found dead seven weeks ago and it was reportedly moved because it was too "harrowing" for the family to see.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "The needle is believed to have been moved from the bed where her body was found and put in a drawer.
"This was not a cover-up. It was apparently done because it was such a harrowing thing to see and there were young children in the house."
When police first arrived at the property there was no sign of drugs or drug paraphernalia but officers insist Peaches' husband Thomas Cohen, 23, is "not in any way under suspicion."
The source also said analysis of a laptop Peaches, 25, was using at the time of her death suggests she passed away at about 11am on April 7 at the home the couple shared with their two sons Astala, two, and Phaedra, one.
An inquest found that heroin was "likely" to have played a role in the blonde beauty's death - the same drug that killed Peaches' mother Paula Yates in 2000 - and a full inquest is due to take place in July.
Meanwhile, Peaches' father, Bob Geldof, performed his first gig at the weekend since his daughter's death with his band, The Boomtown Rats.
The grieving singer made no mention of his daughter during their set at Volkfest in Plymouth but fans claim he put on a "remarkable show".

Kieran Hayler writes letter to lover

Kieran Hayler has written a letter to Katie Price's former best friend dismissing their affair as just a "dirty, sleazy sh*g."
The builder and part time stripper, who has admitted sleeping with married Jane Pountney, 49, is still desperate to win back his pregnant wife Katie, and insists he is seeking help at a rehab clinic for a compulsive addiction.
In a letter seen by The Sun newspaper, Kieran tells Jane: "I told you everything you wanted to hear so I could sleep with you.
"And that's all it was, a dirty, sleazy sh*g to feed an addiction that I am ashamed to say I have. But I am going to get help because I love Kate with all my heart and I do not want to lose her and I want us to be stronger than ever once this all passes."
He continues: "I was never ever going to leave Kate for you. I am so glad we got caught because now I can get help and I can start a new fresh life with Katie with good people in our life and positive future."
The 27 year old claims he wrote the letter during £2,500-a-day rehab sessions, which he started last week, and he insists having therapy has helped him to realise he has a "compulsive addiction."
Kieran is still hopeful he can repair Katie's broken heart and save their marriage, after tying the knot last year, for the sake of their nine-month-old son Jett, as well as Katie's children from past relationships, Harvey, 12, Junior, eight, and Princess, six.
But Katie, 36, has slammed her husband and Jane again on Twitter, after reading Kieran's tell-all interview, in which he revealed the pair had unprotected sex in Katie's stables and on a family holiday during their seven-month affair.
Katie posted: "@Kieran0322 and jane pountney the w**** were f****** all through France they have been f******* in my house the whole time even when I was home (sic).
"@Kieran0322 has confessed this today they are both lying cheating ****s (sic)."

Angelina Jolie: Maleficent was ‘perfect timing’

Angelina Jolie says motherhood played a huge part in her taking on 'Maleficent'.
The actress - who has Maddox, 12, Pax, 10, Zahara, nine, Shiloh, seven, and twins Knox and Vivienne, five, with her fiance Brad Pitt - was happy to take on the role in the re-imagining of Walt Disney's 'Sleeping Beauty' as she was able to spend time with her children on set.
She told Collider.com "[Motherhood] had a lot to do with it. My kids are now all watching all of these movies and wanting to play with mummy. It was perfect timing to have them all on set, playing and being a part of the adventure with me. "
Jolie, 38, also credits the "bold" nature of the evil title character as a factor in her decision to take on the role.
She said: "For me, as an actress, I wanted to not do something where I'm taking myself so seriously, and trying to do something for myself and my art. I wanted to remember what it is to play and entertain, and try something bold.
"The artist in me felt that it's good to do something bold, every once in awhile, that you're not comfortable with and haven't done. I was a bit nervous to take her on. I don't have a big theater voice. I don't do things that are comedic. This is such a crazy idea. I'm a fairy. I'd come and hear, 'How was your day, honey?' And I'd be like, 'I was a fairy. I don't know.' But somehow, it's great to jump into things you're not sure of and you haven't done and that are a little scary. That's what we have to do, as artists."
The Oscar-winner - whose daughter Vivienne makes her acting debut as the young Princess Aurora - hopes that her children don't dedicate their lives to the big-screen and only wants them to take-up movie-making "for fun."
She said: "I just want them to like it and do it for fun, only. If, when they get older, they decide to be actors, I would just ask that that's not the centre of their lives. That can be an aspect, but I also want them to do many other things with their lives and get involved with many other things. I don't think it's a healthy focus, as a centre of your life."

Iggy Azalea: Strippers taught me to twerk

Iggy Azalea learnt how to twerk from strippers in Atlanta.
The 23-year-old pop star perfected her butt-shaking dance moves at house parties before she found fame, and has revealed the performers in the strip clubs in the American city were an inspiration to her.
Iggy - who moved from Australia to the US on her own when she was just 16 - said: "I used to live in Atlanta, and that's just how everybody dances at house parties and stuff."
She added: "The best twerkers are probably all the strippers in Atlanta. They're pretty good."
The 23-year-old singer - real name Amethyst Kelly - has also revealed how she came up with her unusual stage name.
The 'Work' hitmaker says her moniker is a combination of her pet dog's name and the street in New South Wales, Australia, where her mother's house was located.
She is quoted by People as saying: "Iggy was my dog's name. My dad picked him up a week after I was born, and he named him after Iggy Pop. And Azalea is the street where my mother lived."

Christina Aguilera staying healthy during pregnancy

Christina Aguilera is sticking to a healthy diet during her second pregnancy.
'The Voice' USA coach reportedly gained 40 pounds while expecting her child Max - her six-year-old son with ex-husband Jordan Bratman - and is determined not to put on as much weight carrying this baby, her first baby with her fiancé Matthew Rutler.
A source told Life and Style Weekly magazine: "She is making much better choices and is adamant about staying healthy. She's telling everyone how vibrant and connected to her body she feels."
Christina had shed a lot of weight before getting pregnant and has so far been able to carry on with her healthy eating regime relatively easily.
Her man Matthew has also been doting on his pop star partner and getting her whatever she needs.
The insider added: "He's doting on her night and day and never leaves her side. He talks to the baby through her stomach - it's so cute."
One food Christina, 33, has developed an appetite for is blackened barbecued meats, a common craving among expectant ladies.
A source previously said: "The other day, she went nuts for a plate of blackened BBQ. She laughs about it, but she was also relieved when she found out this craving isn't all that strange."

Hilary Duff and Mike Comrie putting son first

Hilary Duff and Mike Comrie are trying to co-parent "peacefully."
The 26-year-old actress, who recently hinted she is trying to work things out with her husband after they announced their separation in January, insists they are putting their two-year-old son Luca's needs first.
Talking to Us Weekly magazine, she said: "We're really good friends and spend a lot of time together. We're just trying to figure out what makes us happy, but we have Luca as our priority. We're going to do it in the most peaceful way."
Meanwhile, Hilary says their two-year-old is keeping them on their toes.
She explained: "Luca's two, so he has a strong personality. He's spirited. That's a good word for him.
"He's talking a lot and trying to put words together, which is a big deal. But sometimes he does test me. I have a toddler bed on order, but he's already jumping out of his crib! I hear a thud and I'm like, OK, he tossed himself out. He's so funny. I say, 'What are you doing?' And he's trying not to smile because he knows it's kind of naughty.
"He opened his own door recently - I couldn't believe it."

George Clooney to marry at Downton Abbey?

George Clooney may wed at the country house where 'Downton Abbey' is filmed.
The 'Oceans Eleven' star whisked his fiancée Amal Alamuddin away for a romantic break in the English countryside this week, which took in Highclere Castle near London - where the period drama is filmed - and she was so taken by it, they made enquiries as to whether it could be used for their wedding.
A source told MailOnline.com: "George became close friends with Hugh Bonneville, who plays Lord Robert Crawley, when they did 'The Monuments Men' together last year.
"And they really hit it off. He contacted Hugh and asked him to arrange a private tour of the castle. Amal was blown away.
"When he saw his bride-to-be's reaction to the spectacular Victorian castle, set on 1,000 acres of parkland, he began making some discrete inquires about having their wedding performed there.
"And he was told they would be most happy to accommodate them."
Highclere is thought to be a good venue for the wedding as it is close to London and also to Heathrow airport, meaning George's family from America can easily fly, as can Amal's extended family who live in Dubai and Lebanon.
The castle is currently inhabited by the 8th Lord and Lady Carnarvon and their family and allows weddings, with prices to hire parts of the castle starting at $23,000 for a day.
The source added: "George loves the idea of marrying at the castle, because it's a glamorous place he could secure... Amal's Middle Eastern relatives would most certainly enjoy the exhibition, and the tour would make for a most memorable wedding."
Other venues the couple are said to be considering for the wedding are George's home in Lake Como, Italy, and Cabo San Lucas in Mexico, but it is thought Amal wants to be near where she grew up in the UK.
Another source said: "Amal grew up in London, and attended school in Buckinghamshire. "And she went to University at Oxford. She currently works in London so she has many close British friends."
