Britain's Queen Elizabeth, her husband Prince Philip, sons Princes Charles, Andrew and Edward, daughter Princess Anne and grandson Prince William took part in the annual Order of the Garter service yesterday (16.06.14).
The royal party donned lavish blue velvet robes and black velvet hats with white plumes to walk the grounds of Windsor Castle to St George's Chapel for the Most Noble Order of the Garter Ceremony with other Garter Knights, watched by thousands of spectators, including William's wife Duchess Catherine and Edward's wife Sophie, Countess of Wessex.
Charles' wife Duchess Camilla was unable to attend after falling ill.
A Clarence House spokesperson said: "The duchess has been advised by doctors to rest having had a heavy cold which has turned into sinusitis. She very much hopes to attend Ascot tomorrow."
Meanwhile, Viscount Aithrie - who fainted in the House of Lords earlier this month - returned to his pageboy duties, holding the queen's train along with another Page of Honour, Hugo Bertie.
The Order was founded in 1348 by Edward III and is awarded by the monarch for outstanding public service and achievement, and recipients are chosen either because they have held public office, contributed to national life or served the sovereign personally.
Appointing Knights of the Garter is the queen's own decision and she doesn't have to consult ministers.
There can only be 25 Knights at any one time and yesterday two new members were invested by the queen in the Castle's Garter throne room.
These were former Bank of England governor Mervyn King and ex-head of MI5 Eliza Manningham-Buller.
Calvin Harris dumped Rita Ora after he learned she had made a secret visit to Los Angeles.
The 30-year-old DJ - who announced earlier this month he had ended his year-long relationship with the 'I Will Never Let You Down' star - reportedly felt the singer was being too vague about her whereabouts after they flew into the US for separate visits at the same time, and Calvin was left furious when he coincidentally used the same driver as his then-girlfriend.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "It all ended when the driver suggested to Calvin that he had taken Rita to a hotel two days earlier instead of driving her to stay with him."
The 'Acceptable in the 80s' hitmaker was said to be suspicious that Rita had even hidden in her make-up artist's hotel room for the day to avoid being photographed in public, which would have alerted Calvin to her presence.
It was recently claimed that Calvin announced news of the split on Twitter before he even told Rita, 23, herself.
A source said: "Rita was left embarrassed when he tweeted that it was all over.
"She didn't think he was going to make the announcement, so she was shocked."
Courteney Cox is enjoying a "romantic" 50th birthday vacation with Johnny McDaid.
The couple - who have been dating for around eight months - flew from Miami to Amanyara in Turks and Caicos on Saturday (14.06.14), and marked her special day on Sunday (15.06.14) by spending the afternoon in a "secluded" part of the beach.
A source said: "Courteney's birthday was Sunday and they spent all afternoon on the beach. It was just the two of them and they found a secluded spot in a cove.
"It was very romantic and a beautiful setting for the afternoon. They shared a green cocktail and took a nap side by side. Courteney looked like there was nowhere else in the world she would rather be and just so happy to be doing what she was doing."
According to the onlooker, 37-year-old Johnny was very attentive to his girlfriend - who has 10-year-old daughter Coco with ex-husband David Arquette - and the pair seemed "totally in love".
The insider continued to E! News: "Johnny was doting on her, rubbing her leg and passing her a cold towel when she got hot. They seem very happy together and totally in love. After a long afternoon in the sun, they went back to their room for the night."
Kim Kardashian wants to relaunch her pop career.
The 'Keeping Up with the Kardashians' star - who released a single, 'Jam (Turn It Up) in 2011 - has been having vocal coaching and songwriting lessons and will be enlisting the help of her husband, Kanye West, when she enters the recording studio.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "Kim has told pals she's keen to be taken seriously as a vocal artist. Kanye will advise on the project, which he's given his full backing.
"She's started vocal coaching and songwriting lessons and set up meetings with record companies."
It seems Kim - who has 12-month-old daughter North with Kanye - has had a change of heart as she previously vowed never to make music again following her chart flop.
She previously said: "No, I'd never [make another single], that was just for fun, and for charity."
Asked whether the 'Mercy' rapper might get her to collaborate with him on a hip-hop track in the future, Kim said: "No, as good as I think he is, it's just not my thing."
However, it could be the 'Bound 2' hitmaker behind her plans to return to making music as the brunette beauty admitted in the past it was Kanye who encouraged her to record 'Jam (Turn It Up).
She said: I'm not a singer, this isn't what I do. I have too much other stuff going on.
"I thought 'Is this really something safe for me to do?' Kanye was actually one of the people who really talked me into doing it and telling me, like, 'Hey, look, what do you guys do for fun? You guys go shopping, you go to the movies. Kind of step into our world for a second and have fun, and we go to the studio.' I'm just doing it for fun."
Eva Longoria helps the 'Devious Maids' cast "navigate drama".
Actress Ana Ortiz - who plays Marisol Suarez in the hit comedy - has revealed the show's producers, Marc Cherry and Eva, 39, are eager to avoid in-fighting among the cast following their troubled experience on Marc's previous hit show 'Desperate Housewives'.
The Emmy Award-winning show was renowned for cast catfights between stars Eva, Teri Hatcher, Felicity Huffman, Marcia Cross and Nicollete Sheridan, who even sued show creator Marc for wrongful dismissal.
Ana said: "Marc is like, 'You guys, let's just not do what happened on Desperate.' Let's just make sure we can keep it clean and keep it peaceful. Eva's an amazing sounding board for that; she knows how to navigate drama very well and to defuse it, and keep us all as a family. We're very lucky."
However, the 43-year-old actress - who first found fame on 'Ugly Betty' - admits it's difficult to avoid the occasional drama with her feisty co-stars Judy Reyes, Rosalyn Sanchez and Dania Ramirez.
She exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "It can be [difficult], I'm not going to lie. We're all really tough, we're all alphas ... we've all definitely come up against each other.
"[But] we have so much respect for each other, we talk it out amongst ourselves, we don't have to bring the drama out to everybody else.
"Working with women, it's tough. They're all so gorgeous! It's like, 'Why does she get that dress? Why does she have the pretty make-up on?'
"These are women I respect so much and love working with them. There's an honesty there - we can say it, get it out in the open and move on."
'Devious Maids' airs Tuesdays at 10pm on TLC UK (Sky 125).
Olivia Munn was told becoming an actress was a "silly dream".
The 'Iron Man 2' star has confessed that she didn't make the move to Hollywood to pursue a career in acting until she was 23-years-old because her family never supported her aspirations.
She said: "I grew up with a lot of, 'You're not good enough, you're not smart enough, that's a silly dream, that's a stupid dream', so I learned at a young age to keep my dream inside."
The 33-year-old actress admits she was worried about disappointing her mother so instead decided to study for a degree in journalism, but after working as a reporter for a year and feeling as though she was at a "dead end" she decided to broach the subject of acting one more time.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter about her change of heart, she explained: "The fear is that if I go there [Hollywood] and try, and I don't make it, then I know that I tried and couldn't do it.
"I said that to my mom, and she goes, 'Well, you can always come back and answer doctor phones'. So if my mom's not going to be disappointed in me, then why not?"
Despite making the decision to follow her dreams, Munn insists you have to be prepared to fail if you want to be an actor.
She added: "Just because you want it, just because you have a dream, just because you work really hard, it doesn't mean that it works out, so you just have to work as hard as you can, keep your head down, say thank you as much as possible."
Matt Healy's mum Denise Welch thought he was dead for six hours.
The singer, who fronts indie band The 1975, was angered by a Twitter rumour earlier this year that he had died of a drug overdose and his mum struggled to get hold of him to make sure it wasn't true.
He said: "Russell Brand had that he died in a snowboarding accident, that's quite funny.
"Someone said I had an overdose in my flat, who's making that s**t up? I didn't. I was on a plane to America.
"My mum rang me in tears. She thought I was dead for six hours. That's not cool at all. That is the s**t I don't like [about fame]."
The 25-year-old star, whose father is actor Tim Healy, has grown up dealing with fame but admits there have been a number of rumours about him and he isn't a fan of the attention that comes with his band's success.
Speaking at the Bushmills Live festival on Ireland's north coast, he exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "There have been loads of rumours. [One] that I slept with Rashida Jones, Quincy Jones' daughter, I didn't sleep with her. I wish I had. She's wife material."
He added: "I don't really like it [the fame] on a personal level. I don't like being so exposed and having things that I don't think about being topics of conversation for other people. I don't like the fact that every time I get out of a car I have a f***ing camera in my face.
"But, then again, I don't resent the element of fame that's marred my life because it's amplified the way I am as a writer. I kind of understand it, it makes me a better writer. But I don't want to be famous famous, I can't be arsed with that."
Jessica Simpson's "laid-back" fiancé is letting her plan their upcoming wedding.
The 33-year-old star is set to marry Eric Johnson - with whom she has daughter Maxwell, two, and 11-month-old son Ace - in Santa Barbara, California early next month and the former NFL star is taking a step back so she can put the finishing touches on their "classic and modern" wedding.
A source told E! News: "[She is] all hands-on for her wedding and her husband...is sitting back and enjoying letting Jessica make a lot of the decisions for their wedding day. He is a very laid-back guy and just loves seeing Jessica happy, especially on her big day."
But Jessica's younger sister Ashlee, who is set to marry her fiancé Evan Ross, 25, on August 31, is helping her organise all the last minute details.
The insider said: "Jessica and Ashlee are very close and really supportive with each other, especially since both weddings are coming up.
"They have been doing lots of wedding stuff together. During this wedding process they both have been talking to each other about their ideas, even though they both are having very different weddings."
Ashlee, 29, has developed a close bond with Eric, 34, and can't wait for him to become her brother-in-law.
The source said: "Ashlee gets along with Eric very well and is so excited for them to tie the knot...She considers him like an older brother."
Miley Cyrus has secured a permanent restraining order against an obsessed fan.
Devon Meek - who was arrested near the 'Wrecking Ball' hitmaker's Los Angeles home on May 16 and previously claimed he would rather die than spend another day without her - must stay 100 yards away from her for the next three years.
The new court order also prevents him from going near any of the venues where the blonde beauty is performing, according to gossip website TMZ.com.
Miley's lawyers obtained the permanent protection order in court today (16.06.14) after they filed an emergency restraining order last month.
Meek, 24, previously claimed that Miley was communicating with him through the radio and believed she told him that she "adores" him.
A law enforcement source said Meek, who also said he hears "screaming voices" in his head, is still undergoing treatment after initially being hospitalised under a 5150 involuntary psychiatric hold.
The insider also previously said: "Mr. Meek stated that when he is released from the hospital, he will not stop seeking Ms. Cyrus and that he will continue to go to Ms. Cyrus' residence until Ms. Cyrus accepts him or he dies."
Chris Brown has sold two of his properties for more than $3 million.
The 'Loyal' hitmaker - who was released from jail earlier this month after serving 108 days for violating his probation stemming from his assault on Rihanna in 2009 - has found buyers for his Hollywood Hills mansion and his penthouse condo in West Hollywood.
A real estate insider told gossip website TMZ.com that the 25-year-old star has finally sold his condo - which he bought for $1.6 million in 2011 - for the same price after putting it on the market in 2012.
The singer has also offloaded his larger three-bedroom home that he bought for $1.5 million in 2011.
Chris decided to sell the house in November after other residents complained to city officials in Los Angeles about the brightly coloured monsters and graffiti he painted on the exterior walls, and he was forced to cover it up.
The insider said that Chris would be lucky to break even on the sale following his real estate fees.
The 'Fine China' hitmaker put an offer on a plush beachside property in Malibu late last year, but it is not known if it was accepted.
A source said at the time: "Chris wrote an offer on a house in Malibu in an exclusive, gated community where a bunch of other high-profile celebrities live."
Adam Levine "had to" ask Behati Prinsloo's father for permission to propose.
The Maroon 5 frontman, who is set to marry the Namibian model in Mexico next month, admitted he was very nervous about asking her church minister dad's for his blessing.
The 34-year-old singer told 'On Air With Ryan Seacrest' today (16.06.14): "I did ask his permission. I don't want to talk about it, you know how I am, but yes, of course I did. I had to. And it was extremely nerve-wracking."
The 'Voice' USA mentor popped the question to the 25-year-old beauty in July 2013, following a brief split last year.
The couple first started dating in May 2012, just one month after Adam was dumped by Behati's Victoria's Secret colleague Anne V after two years of dating.
The 'One More Night' hitmaker enjoyed a brief romance with 22-year-old model Nina Agdal in May last year during his time apart from Behati, but they soon reunited and announced their engagement.
A source said at the time: "He realised he really does love her and she was the one."
Another insider recently claimed that Adam was keen to make amends with his scorned ex-girlfriends before his big day and sent them all letters to apologise for his behaviour during their time together.
Kelly Clarkson's husband's ex-wife was one of the first people to meet their newborn daughter.
Melissa Ashworth White - who was married to the 'Since You've Been Gone' hitmaker's husband, Brandon Blackstock, until 2012 - says the couple's baby girl, River Rose, is "absolutely precious."
She told gossip website RadarOnline.com: "She's just absolutely precious. And Kelly is doing great."
The 32-year-old singer gave birth to her and Brandon's first child together last Thursday (12.06.14) and Melissa - who has daughter Savannah, 11, and son Seth, seven, with Brandon, and also recently remarried, went to visit them on Saturday (14.06.14).
She and Kelly have become close friends and she attended the star's baby shower in April.
She said: "We have a wonderful relationship. I love Kelly and we get along great, and my husband and I hang out with them all the time."
She added: "At Kelly's baby shower, she certainly got a gift from me. I couldn't leave my kid out! I adore Kelly and Brandon as a couple."
Kelly married music manager Brandon in a low-key ceremony in Tennessee last October, and shortly afterwards admitted she couldn't wait to fall pregnant.
She also credited Savannah and Seth for making her want to become a mother.
She said: "They're so great. I never wanted kids before, but now I want, like, five."
