La Roux prefers quality over quanitity

La Roux always wanted quality over quantity.
The 'Bulletproof' singer - whose real name is Elly Jackson - explained she is a person who would much rather spend "three months" on a project and make it perfect, rather than rush just to get more work done at a much lower standard, and admitted she was even like that at school.
She told the Sunday Times newspaper's Culture magazine: "I was the person that would spend three months on one drawing. Everybody else would be handing in tons of coursework, and I'd be like, 'Look, this drawing is amazing'.
"And they'd say, 'But Elly, you're supposed to have handed in another 10 pages of this'. 'Yeah? But this one thing I'm handing in is, like, way better than the rest of the class.' "
She has carried this belief into her musical career, and as she prepares for the release of 'Trouble in Paradise' - the follow-up to 2009's self-titled debut - she is still happy to take her time.
She added: "Time doesn't really mean anything these days. We're already half-way through 2014, and what have most people achieved?
"It took us two and a half years to make this record, but I'm like, 'Do you know what? Two and a half years ain't very long' ... We'd say something [to the label] like, 'We've only done three songs'.
"And then one of us would go, 'Yeah, but they sound really great'. I don't understand how people do it quicker, though ... It's almost like you can hear the panic in them."

Lorde says Kanye West is like her ‘school principal’

Lorde says Kanye West is like her "school principal".
The 'Royals' hitmaker has admitted she looks up to the 37-year-old rapper like a school teacher who has taught her everything she knows about pop music.
She told The Guardian: "(He's) like my school principal, if the school is pop."
The 17-year-old singer has also revealed that Kanye inspired her to have confidence in herself and doesn't care that people think she is arrogant.
She explained: "I like making grand statements. The name Lorde is quite grand and a little bit arrogant. I like that, I like the intensity of it.
"I don't mind. I'm a really big fan of Kanye West. He's confident and I like that."
Meanwhile, the Grammy Award-winner - who shot to fame after releasing her debut album 'Pure Heroine' in 2013 - has revealed her follow-up album will have a "different vibe".
She previously told the BBC: "I think I've learned so much as a songwriter, there's going to be so much of an improvement because of that. I'm working on stuff quite tentatively, it's definitely still at the beginning and yeah, it's totally different."
She added: "I wrote the last album about that world which was the suburb where I grew up and populated by my friends and people who were really familiar to me. Now I'm in a different place every day and I'm with new people every day and it's a different vibe."

Adam Levine offers Keira Knightley record deal

Keira Knightley has been offered a record deal by Adam Levine.
The 29-year-old actress - who plays songwriter Gretta alongside Adam in the new comedy-drama 'Begin Again' - is said to have impressed the Maroon 5 frontman with her vocal abilities, prompting him to offer her a record deal at his new label '222 Records'.
A music industry insider told The Sun: "Keira has offers on the table and is tempted by them. She enjoyed singing in the movie and people around her were impressed.
"Adam has just started a label called 222 Records and has been trying to persuade Keira to sign a deal with him."
The 'Harder To Breathe' hitmaker - who also stars as a coach on the 'The Voice' - was so impressed by Keira's talent, he now believes adding her to the new label will give it a "kickstart" in the industry.
The source explained: "He thinks she could be a successful pop star and sell loads of records, which would help kickstart his career as a label boss."
However, Keira - who is married to Klaxons musician James Righton - has previously insisted that she struggles to play guitar and has no real interest in music.
She confessed: "I know nothing about music."
Meanwhile, Adam and his 'Victoria's Secret' model girlfriend Behati Prinsloo tied the knot in Mexico over the weekend.
According to Us Weekly, the happy couple were joined by around 300 guests as they showed their love for one another in a beautiful ceremony.
Stars like Jonah Hill, Candice Swanepoel and Jason Segal were all in attendance.
An insider recently said: "Everyone seemed to have a great time. The party went to the late hours."

Paris Hilton ignores her critics

Paris Hilton tries to ignore her critics.
The socialite has hit back at people who criticise her for her career path, or the image they have seen on shows like 'The Simple Life', and insisted while their comments were "really hurtful" in the past, she's now in a position where she finds them more funnier than painful.
She told the Sunday Telegraph newspaper's Stella magazine: "If people want to be mean, that's their problem. It used to be really hurtful. I would call and cry to my mom all the time but now I just laugh."
However, Paris insisted her fame has meant she has encountered some difficulties when it comes to friends and relationships, and claimed a lot of girls try to be her friend simply to ride her coattails and make a name for themselves.
She added: "So many people have bad intentions, so many girls want to hang out [with me] to be someone.
"I weed those people out of my life. I call them hungry tigers."
However, she credited the notion of people wanting to "be" here with making her businesses so successful.
She explained: "[My fans want] to buy a piece of me. It's like a kind of Barbie American dream.
"I have that childlike quality so a lot of little girls especially [like me]. I've always been a kid at heart. I think I always will be."

Ed Sheeran: One Direction can hide it if it gets too much

Ed Sheeran says One Direction will be able to hide it when they're struggling with fame.
The 'Sing' hitmaker has dismissed the idea he would ever talk about life in the spotlight with members of the 'Best Song Ever' boy band, but he's sure when it gets too much, they do the same as him and don't let it show.
He told the Mail on Sunday newspaper's EVENT magazine: "When I see them - the last time I saw all of them was last year at the MTV Video Music Awards , but I see Harry [Styles] quite a lot - I don't counsel them.
"We have a drink and some fun. Whenever I see them, they're fine, but I have times where I don't handle things very well and I mask it, and I'm sure they can mask it as well.
"I don't have any of the frustrations that they might have, because they have to make decisions as five, whereas I'm my own man. That's the balance they have to get."
Meanwhile, Ed opened up about his celebrity friendship with Courteney Cox, and admitted he stays at her home "pretty much every time" he visits Los Angeles, and he insisted it just happened by accident.
He added: "With Courteney, you don't really ask. She's a southern girl, pure Alabama, so she's very much 'the hostess with the mostess'.
"She's very warm and friendly, and wants to give to everyone. She lets people stay, cooks dinner, shows an interest in what they're doing.
"So it's not so much forcing yourself, or her asking you, you're just there. Pretty much very time I go to LA now that's where I stay."

Lily Allen admits album flop was partly her fault

Lily Allen thinks "maybe" her songs weren't good enough on her third album.
The 'Smile' star's most recent record, 'Sheezus', flopped and she now acknowledges that it could be partly her fault and the songs weren't as strong as they could have been.
She told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "Maybe the songs aren't good enough this time, who knows? I just know I can't wait to get back into the studio."
Lily - who went on a musical hiatus between 2011 and 2013, during which time she had daughters Ethel, two, and Marnie Rose, 18 months and wed Sam Cooper - also says the differing sounds of her first two singles, 'Hard Out Here' and 'Air Balloon' could have confused some fans.
She added: "I put my trust in other people, which I don't usually do. I usually
go with my own gut feeling but maybe I wasn't feeling as confident as I have in
the past because of all the hormones.
"The first thing I came back with was 'Hard Out Here' and that was important to me, a real statement of intent, even though you couldn't put it on the radio over here because it had too much swearing.
"I thought it did really well and then management and the label chose to go with 'Air Balloon' and I just think starting with something really aggressive and in your face and then going in a different direction... people need to know what they are getting."

Pink takes husband on birthday bar crawl

Pink threw her husband a bicycle bar crawl for his 39th birthday.
The 'So What' singer took Carey Hart and his friends around Los Angeles on Friday (18.07.14) to celebrate his birthday the previous day, and by his own admission he partied too hard.
Alongside a picture of Carey passed out on a bed and being written on by a pal, while his wife straddles him, she wrote on Twitter: "And that's how amateurs end up at 7 pm on their birthdays. Face down and written on. Bam. @hartluck luv yu babee (sic)."
Carey also tweeted the next day, adding a similar picture and writing: "This picture goes to show i can still party like im 21. Thateabs drink to much, throw up, and pass out by 8pm!!!! Had so much fun yesterday. Thanks to my awesome wife for putting the shin dig together. (sic)"
The bar crawl looked like a wacky affair with one of Carey's friends dressing in a banana suit with a pink bikini for the occasion and another in a suit to make her look like the 'Sesame Street' character Big Bird.
The motocross racer also received plenty of well wishes from his fans, and Pink made sure to thank them all.
She tweeted: "Thanks to all of you for @hartluck s bday wishes, he is so grateful for the extended family you all are."

Prince William won’t spoil George on his birthday

Britain's Prince William and Duchess Catherine "don't want to go overboard" for Prince George's first birthday.
The royal toddler will celebrate turning one on Tuesday (22.07.14), but his parents have vowed not to spoil with too many presents.
A source told Usmagazine.com: "George will be getting clothes and wooden toys from mum and dad for his birthday.
"William and Catherine don't want to go overboard. He has been given so many gifts over the months and there's only so much space to store them."
The royal couple celebrated with a party at Catherine's mother and father's house yesterday, and there will be another celebration on his actual birthday held at Kensington Palace in London.
A spokesperson for the palace said: "The family is marking it privately with close family and friends at Kensington Palace."
Another source says the celebration will most likely be an indoor tea party although it "may extend to the garden if the weather remains glorious".
The palace party will include George's great grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, uncle Prince Harry, and Catherine's family the Middletons, and aunt Pippa and grandmother Carole recently visited baby store Blue Almonds in London to pick out a special birthday outfit for George.

Nikki Reed and Ian Somerhalder dating?

Nikki Reed and Ian Somerhalder have sparked rumours they are dating.
The 'Twilight' beauty and 'The Vampire Diaries' actor first raised eyebrows this weekend when they were pictured going for a run together, and today (20.07.14) they were seen getting very close at a farmer's market in Los Angeles, with Ian holding a protective arm around Nikki and nuzzling her neck.
The pair - who have been friends for a long time - used to go on double dates when they were with their previous partners, and Nikki is said to still be good friends with Ian's ex, Nina Dobrev.
Nina has recently said she supports Ian in all that he does and they remain close.
She explained: "I don't like any kind of negativity. I try to be good to everyone, whether it's a love, a friend, an ex. I'll always try to treat people the way I want to be treated."
Nikki, 26, was previously married to musician Paul McDonald, but they separated in March and filed for divorce in May.
At the time they were working on recording an album together, 'I'm Not Falling', and
Nikki had previously claimed music was the secret to their happy marriage.
She said: "I feel like especially being in this crazy, weirdo world that we're in, where we're making movies and people are on tour, it's just so easy to lose track of what's important.
"I feel like it's really important to just be with each other and make the other person a priority."

Cheryl Cole to throw wedding party this week

Cheryl Cole will have a party to celebrate her surprise wedding later this week.
The 'Call My Name' singer married French restauranteur Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini on July 7 in a small ceremony in Mustique but is planning a bigger event with friends and family this week.
A source told MailOnline.com: "Cheryl just wants to share her happiness with those closest to her and will be throwing a party at some point later this week.
"She won't be renewing her vows or having another ceremony as has been reported, or even wearing a wedding dress.
"She's been so busy that she hasn't had time to see everyone since she flew back home, so this is the perfect opportunity for her and Jean-Bernard to catch up with their nearest and dearest."
The source also explained how Cheryl's romance hasn't been as fast moving as most people think, and she has known Jean-Bernard since 2013.
The source said: "They actually got to know each other at the end of last year when Cheryl was in South Africa, but they were just friends then. They got together earlier this year."
Meanwhile Cheryl's union with Jean-Bernard is yet to be made official as it has not yet been registered, because officials at the Caribbean births, marriages and deaths department reportedly don't understand all of the names listed for Jean-Bernard, who is listed on the marriage certificate as "Jean-Bernard Justin Antoine Aime Bastien Thierry".

Adam Levine’s wedding officiated by Jonah Hill

Adam Levine and Behati Prinsloo's wedding was officiated by Jonah Hill.
The funnyman made the 300 guests at the event in Mexico laugh, but also set aside a few poignant words for his friend as he tied the knot with the Victoria's Secret model.
A source told E! news: "Jonah was hysterical. He was telling so many jokes, but then in the middle would be so sweet and sincere.
"He also talked about how sweet Behati is and how perfect they are for one another."
One of Jonah's quips was about how he and Adam used to skateboard with Robert Downey Jr. and Stevie Nicks when they were young.
The source explained: "He set up the joke perfectly. His timing was amazing. Everyone was giggling."
As well as Jonah officiating, Prinsloo's dad, who is a minister, also gave the happy couple a blessing as they married on the beach in the evening.
During the service the bride and groom read vows that they had written themselves, and afterward guests were treated to a reception with plenty of food and drink.
The source added: "It was all fresh, seared tuna, lovely salads, everything was organic and amazing. Drinks were flowing. There was every kind of mojito you can imagine."
Adam and Behati are now set to honeymoon in South Africa.

Sarah Hyland approves of Sofia Vergara dating Joe Manganiello

Sarah Hyland thinks Sofia Vergara and Joe Manganiello are "super hot together".
The 'Modern Family' star approves of her on-screen aunt's new man, as she already knows him from when he appeared with her in supernatural drama series 'Medium'.
She told UsMagazine.com: "I think they are super hot together. I know Joe, and he is divine.
"He played my boyfriend's dad in an episode of 'Medium', so we've known him for quite some time. He's just an amazing person, and I love them individually. So him and Sofia together, I'm all for it! They'd make really hot babies!"
Sarah's sentiment is echoed by another of their co-stars, Julie Bowen, who thinks the celebrity couple are "too good looking".
She said: "You know it almost is like a genetic explosion and there might not be enough diversity in the gene pool because they are just too good looking."
Sofia, 42, split from businessman Nick Loeb in May and started dating 'True Blood' hunk Joe in June.
While they are dating, the pair are said to be taking their relationship slowly as an insider recently revealed: "It's very, very new. They're having fun and getting to know each other."
