Lady Gaga portraits auctioned

A series of 'video portraits' of Lady Gaga raised over $1 million at auction over the weekend.
Avant-garde director Robert Wilson showcased his '23 Video Portraits of Lady Gaga' series at his annual Watermill Center gala in the Hamptons at the weekend, and the controversial images - which included the 'Born this Way' singer as a beheaded John the Baptist and hanging tied-up and naked upside-down - were then sold off.
Guests at the gala included Kim Cattrall, Jay McInerney, Philip Glass and Lisa Anastos, and as well as the Gaga-themed showcase, they also enjoyed an after-party featuring a woman singing opera from a hole in the ground, naked performance artists roaming through the venue and director Jim Jarmush playing guitar, the New York Post newspaper reports.
The '23 Video Portraits of Lady Gaga' - which was first shown at Paris' Louvre in November - saw Robert place the eccentric singer into several familiar paintings, replacing the original subjects.
Among the classic works of art he paid homage to were Jacques-Louis David's ;The Death of Marat' and Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres's 'Portrait of Mademoiselle Caroline Rivière'.
The director recently spoke of his awe in the 'Poker Face' singer for her "perfectionist" attitude and stunning "inner concentration".
He said: "An artist I've been dazzled by recently is Lady Gaga. She is highly disciplined and a perfectionist, and she has an inner concentration and beauty.
"She also speaks text brilliantly; her diction is perfect. I had her read text of the Marquis de Sade. She asked me how to do it, and I said, 'Fast, with 20 repeats of this line, five repeats of that.' Her ability to count and speak rapidly is astonishing."
The work will be displayed at the centre until September 14.

Sandra Bullock’s cowboy birthday

Sandra Bullock enjoyed an early 50th birthday celebration at a cowboy bar on Thursday (24.07.14).
The 'Gravity' actress reached the milestone age on Saturday (26.07.14), but began her festivities early by heading to the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, with a group of female pals to listen to country group Southern Soul Allstars.
A source said: "There were probably six to ten women in the group. It appeared to be a ladies night. They just came in to listen to the band."
Though the group - which included Chelsea Handler - didn't seem to be dancing, they all had a great time.
The onlooker added to E! News: "It was pretty low key. They all had one drink...and were all dressed casually.
"Sandra looked radiant, beautiful and was very sweet. It looked like she was having a blast."
Sandra and Chelsea have been close friends for years, and on Saturday night, the 'Chelsea Lately' host posted a picture on Instagram of a group of women in a cheeky pose, with one of the group showing off her thong-clad butt, though it is unclear as to her identity.
While the picture was captioned "Birthday girls", the 'Blind Side' actress - who has a four-year-old son, Louis - can't be seen in the Instagram picture.

Kendall Jenner ‘flirts’ with basketball star

Kendall Jenner was seen "flirting" with NBA star Chandler Parsons at the weekend.
The 18-year-old model and the 25-year-old basketball player were joined by her sister Kylie and two other pals at STK LA on Saturday (26.07.14) but they "sat next to each other" and appeared very close at the eatery.
An onlooker told the New York Post newspaper's Page Six column:
"Kendall and Chandler were flirting throughout the meal. They laughed and chatted all night."
Last week, the 'Keeping Up with the Kardashians' star and her younger sister were in Dallas to unveil their new fashion line - and Chandler recently signed a three-year, $46 million deal with the Dallas Mavericks.
Kendall previously dated One Direction hunk Harry Styles, and it was recently claimed the pair have remained friends since their brief romance ended earlier this year.
Kendall's aunt, Karen Houghton, previously said: "He was such a great guy - very polite and respectful and, for someone so young, very mature. Kendall and Harry are still very good friends."
Kendall's mother, Kris Jenner, has also remained fond of the 20-year-old singer after he impressed her with his "polite and respectful" disposition.

Mick Jagger finds joy in birth of great-granddaughter

Sir Mick Jagger has found new joy with the birth of his grandson and great-granddaughter following the tragic death of L'Wren Scott.
The Rolling Stones frontman was left devastated after his partner of 13 years committed suicide in March but now his daughter Jade Jagger - the rocker's only child with first wife Bianca Jagger - has revealed that the recent birth of her son, Ray Emmanuel, and her daughter Assisi's baby, Ezra Key, have been able to help him through this "difficult time".
Talking to Britain's HELLO! magazine, Jade shared: "He's been through a difficult time but it's been great to have two new babies in the family with the joy they bring.
"My dad loves babies. He's really good with them and is a big family man."
The 42-year-old designer and her daughter were pregnant at the same time, meaning that Ray Emmanuel is actually Ezra's uncle, despite being younger than his niece by a couple of weeks.
New mum Assisi revealed that Mick is looking forward to meeting his first ever great-grandchild and even added that the rocker - whose entire family currently call him by his first name - might go by the title 'Grandpappy' in the future.
She said: "I've spoken to Mick on the phone a few times and he's really keen to meet her. He's been asking about how she's changing and growing up. He'll meet her later this summer, hopefully. I'm really looking forward to the first family meet-up.
"I call him Mick so I'm not sure what she'll call him. Perhaps Grandpappy. But we haven't spoken about it yet."

Studio reveals glimpse of new King Kong film

Legendary Entertainment's Thomas Tull has confirmed they are to make a film based on King Kong's home, Skull Island.
The company's CEO confirmed the news at Comic Con this weekend when he claimed Legendary and Universal had "been tinkering around with one thing", before unveiling a short teaser trailer for the film.
Elaborating on the upcoming project, the film studio explained: "Previous works have touched on the island, but staying and exploring this mysterious and dangerous place offers Legendary the opportunity to take audiences deeper inside this rich world with a style and scope that parallels other Legendary productions."
The teaser for the new film - which is to be released in November 2016 - features a first-person shot that takes the viewer over stormy seas to an island, where King Kong comes into vision and can be seen roaring and beating his chest.
It has been rumoured that 'Godzilla' director Gareth Edwards has been handed the reigns on the new flick.
The last time King Kong appeared on the silver screen was in 2005, when acclaimed director Peter Jackson was given control of the project.
The film starred Naomi Watts, Jack Black, Adrien Brody and Andy Serkis, and won three Academy Awards, including Best Visual Effects.
Details of the new project are thin on the ground, but fans of the iconic character - who was first depicted in a movie in 1933 - will already be looking forward to his eagerly-awaited return.

Nicki Minaj delays Anaconda release

Nicki Minaj has delayed the release of her new single 'Anaconda' until next month.
The 31-year-old rapper was due to drop her latest release today (28.07.14) but announced in an Instagram post that it will not be available until Monday August 4
She wrote: "My darlingz, I've pushed the release of Anaconda to next week, Monday 8/4. I promise you will understand why before the week is out. Loveeeeeeee uuuuuu (sic)."
Nicki previously revealed she going back to her hip hop roots for her new album 'The Pink Print'.
The 'Starships' rapper claimed her latest material will be nothing like previous offerings and she wants to surprise fans with a different sound on her latest album, the follow up to 'Roman Reloaded'.
She said: "The tracks on 'Pink Print' are back to my hip-hop roots. I don't think it's something that I'm necessarily trying to do [go in a new direction]. It's like as soon as I started working on my new album, that's just the songs that I've been writing."
Discussing the new material, Nicki insisted: "I'm just gonna do what my heart tells me to do."

Jack White’s surprise performance at Beck gig

Jack White made a surprise appearance at a Beck concert in Providence, Rhode Island on Saturday (26.07.14).
After headlining the Newport Folk Festival the same night, Jack rushed over to Providence to play acoustic guitar and sing backing vocals for tracks 'Pay No Mind' and 'Loser' during the encore.
The former White Stripes star was introduced simply as the "best bartender in the world," according to Billboard.
Beck and Jack were later joined by Sean Lennon - who opened for Beck earlier in the night - as they performed a medley of 'Where It's At' and 'One Foot in the Grave.'
Fans were also thrilled as Jack performed a guitar solo and took part in a choreographed dance sequence.
Jack previously revealed he is a "workaholic" who can't deal with being "idle" and gets up at 6am every morning.
Jack - who has children Scarlet, eight, and Henry, six, with ex-wife Karen Elson - said: "Some days I'll take the kids to school, and when I'm not on tour I'll be here. There's always a lot to do. A friend said recently, 'You're like me, a workaholic'. It's hard for me to talk about it because I might accidentally sound like I'm trying to fulfil some childhood guilt trip my father gave me, but it's not so much about work as a constant need to create something. If I'm idle, I don't think I deserve the right to be called an artist or a musician."

David Walliams wants X Factor job

David Walliams wants to be Simon Cowell's guest at the Judges' Houses on 'The X Factor'.
The 42-year-old is envious of the music mogul's close friendship with returning judge Cheryl Cole and wants to find away to get on the ITV talent show in order to reclaim his title as "Simon's favourite girl."
Speaking to The Sun newspaper, he said: "I really want to be Simon's helper at his judges' home in Barbados.
"I told him I'd come out of his closet but he said no. I won't be Simon's favourite girl any more. I will try to temper my jealousy when I watch the new series of 'X Factor' and see Cheryl and Simon being so close."
Despite his envy of Cheryl, 31, the 'Britain's Got Talent' panellist was over the moon when he'd heard she'd secretly married Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini earlier this month following a whirlwind romance.
He joked: "Now she's married, Simon will have to stop holding a candle for her."
However, David - who is married to stunning model Lara Stone - was glad the former Girls Aloud singer kept the wedding a secret from Simon, 54, as he believes he would have "blabbed" about it.
He explained: "Simon is terrible at keeping secrets. Cheryl was very wise not to tell him her big news. He'd have definitely blabbed it."
Meanwhile, the 'X Factor' is set to hit screens in the autumn with Simon, Cheryl, Louis Walsh and Mel B all confirmed to have a seat on the panel.

Liam Payne poses naked

Liam Payne has posed naked.
The One Direction hunk took to his Instagram account this weekend to post a picture of himself without clothes while on enjoying a day out on a yacht.
The 'Story of My Life' hitmaker is seen standing on the deck of the boat with his arms and legs spread wide while his modesty was protected by a touch of photo editing which saw his private parts blurred out of the image.
While his loyal fans - affectionately known as Directioners - demanded to know where his trunks were, Liam captioned the snap: "Damn that was my last pair!"
The 20-year-old star - whose bandmates Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan appeared to be absent from the trip - posted the photograph from an unknown location just days after topless pictures of him relaxing in the sun by a swimming pool in the Spanish city of Madrid emerged.
One Direction recently finished the European leg of their 'Where We Are' world tour and it appears Liam is making the most of his well-deserved time off before they reunite for their upcoming shows in Canada and the United States, which kick off next month in Toronto.

Chatty Ed Sheeran annoys pals

Ed Sheeran has reportedly annoyed his friends by "spilling secrets".
The 23-year-old singer is incredibly open about his life, and though he hasn't shared anything "malicious" about pals including Courteney Cox and Taylor Swift, they are said to be unhappy about his loose-lipped ways.
A source said: "It's getting hugely embarrassing.
"These are all big stars who are used to being surrounded by publicists and lawyers to make sure nothing leaks out without prior approval.
"But Ed keeps going rogue and spilling all kinds of secrets. He's not said anything malicious or done any real harm, but they worry he's a loose cannon and he'll put his foot in it."
'We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together' hitmaker Taylor was said to have been unhappy with Ed after he discussed who he would like her to date, while Courteney - who the 'A Team' singer stays with when he is working in the US - made her pal feel like a "scolded schoolboy" when she asked him not to talk about her relationship with Snow Patrol rocker Johnny McDaid.
The source added to the Daily Star newspaper: "[Taylor] was annoyed with Ed when he said in a recent interview how she should date Orlando Bloom - especially as she'd admitted in private how she had the hots for him.
"And Courteney had a quiet word with Ed earlier this month, asking him to stop talking so openly about her romance with Johnny McDaid.
"Poor Ed felt terrible - like he was a scolded schoolboy.
"Now he's hoping he doesn't get a bad reputation for not being trustworthy.
"He is going to try and be more careful in interviews."

Simon Cowell celebrates girlfriend’s birthday

Simon Cowell splashed out on jewellery for his girlfriend's birthday.
The 'X Factor' star - who has five-month-old son Eric with Lauren Silverman - treated the US socialite to an expensive gift before enjoying some family time to mark her turning 37 on Saturday (26.07.14).
A source said: "It was a happy, relaxing day. Everything with them is great."
During the evening, Simon, 54, threw a small dinner party for Lauren at upscale Chinese restaurant Red Stixs in the Hamptons and their entire table sang 'Happy Birthday' as the brunette beauty was presented with a cake.
And it seems the eatery is a big hit with the couple, who have been enjoying a vacation in the New York resort.
A source told E! News: "They've been there a lot this summer. They seem to really love it."
And the pair are currently said to be planning another holiday with Eric.
An insider said: "It will be on a boat. Everyone's really looking forward to it."
The music mogul recently tweeted about how much he was enjoying spending time in the Hamptons.
He wrote: "Back to London in a week. Have loved the Hamptons. A very special place."
Simon also shared a number of pictures of his dogs Squiddly and Diddly playing in the sand.
