Britain's Prince Charles helped attend to a sick dog yesterday (31.07.14).
The heir-to-the-throne visited North Highland College Centre for Game Keeping and Veterinary Nursing, near Halkirk in Caithness, a few miles south of the most northern point in the British mainland and spoke to veterinary students as they looked after the poorly pooch.
The trio, Jennifer Ironside, Michelle Pritchard and Sarah Mackenzie, introduced Charles to Jasper, a Jack Russell with a heart condition and allowed the prince to listen to the dog's heartbeat with their stethoscope.
Later in the day, the prince - who is known as the Duke of Rothesy in Scotland - visited an art exhibition at Thurso High School by the Society of Caithness and impressed many of the artists on display.
Artist Elaine Rapson-Grant said: "When the duke spoke to me about my work, he knew it was a watercolour - it takes an expert to know that.
Fellow artist Jenny Bruce said: "He asked if I was a trained artist and he was aware of my style of art, which is industrial architecture."
Two of Charles' own paintings are on display, but unlike the majority of the pieces in the exhibition - which ranged from water colours to sculptures to glass-art to pottery - his are not for sale.

Britain's Prince Harry has enjoyed two dates with Camilla Thurlow at his Kensington Palace home.
The 29-year-old prince was reportedly spotted kissing the 25-year-old charity worker at a recent World Cup party at London nightspot Tonteria and have been in constant communication in private.
A source told Britain's Grazia magazine: "Harry and Camilla have mutual friends, including Guy Pelly who engineered the night out [at Tonteria].
"They've been texting ever since and she has been over for drinks at his apartment twice - once with friends and once on her own."
While Harry is said to be "playing it cool" with Camilla friends believe she is just what he needs to help him get over ex-girlfriend Cressida Bonas.
The source added: "Camilla is always the life and soul of the party.
"Harry is playing it cool because he just wants to have fun but Camilla could be just what he needs to get over Cressida once and for all."
Harry first met Camilla through The Halo Trust, a charity made famous by his late mother Princess Diana where the brunette beauty works and of which he was patron of their 25th anniversary appeal.

Britain's Queen Elizabeth helps David Cameron clear his head.
The monarch meets with the Prime Minister for an hour every Wednesday evening and though he admits he is unsure how much "benefit" the queen gets from their discussions, the politician finds them incredibly useful.
He said: "I am not sure it is always of huge benefit to her, but it is of great benefit to me.
"I find it helps sort out the problems in my own head about the things we need to do."It is probably one of the most valuable hours that I have because when you think of Her Majesty, I am her 12th Prime Minister. She started with Winston Churchill and she has literally heard it all before."
And Mr Cameron paid tribute to the queen for being an "amazing" public servant who is "magnificent" in her duties.
He added: "I think she is the most amazing public servant.
"I think we are so lucky to have a symbol of national unity that we do in our royal family and to have someone who has fulfilled that role so magnificently for all these years.
"It is hard to think of a time when she has ever put a foot wrong.
"I think she is an absolutely magnificent person in the work she does."
And the Prime Minister feels lucky he gets to meet with her regularly.
He said "It is a privilege to spend a bit of time with her."

'The Big Reunion' bands are planning to hide alcohol from Lee Ryan following his meltdown earlier this year.
5th Story, Damage, A1 and 3T are set to join forces with Blue, 911 and Five for The Big Reunion - The Boy Band Tour in October, but the groups are worried that too much boozing in front of the 31-year-old singer could send him off the rails again.
Adam Rickitt - who is a member of super-group 5th Story - told The Sun newspaper: "He's had an awful time but he's handled himself so well.
"I'll still have a drink but I'll be taking it to one side. We all drink so much when we're together."
Lee spent two weeks in a rehabilitation centre in April after he was arrested earlier that month for drink driving and being found in possession of a Class A drug.
The hunk found himself with a £3,325 fine and a two-year driving ban after he pleaded guilty to the charges.
The father-of-two blamed his erratic behaviour on the online abuse he received following his stint on Channel 5's 'Celebrity Big Brother' in January.
He said at the time: "I drank every day. A bottle of anything I could find, usually whiskey.
"I took antidepressants, but I didn't like them. They made me feel numb."
However, while Lee admits he's not teetotal, he doesn't touch whiskey any more and is now looking forward to touring with the other 'Big Reunion' bands in October.

'Doctor Who' is to screen in cinemas across the UK and Ireland next month.
Fans will have the chance to watch the first episode of the new series 'Deep Breath' - which sees the eagerly-anticipated arrival of Peter Capaldi as the new Doctor - on the big screen as it will be broadcast across the nation in select cinemas on August 23.
The episode will be screened at the same time it airs on BBC One following the theatrical success of last year's 50th anniversary special 'The Day of the Doctor', which was shown on the big screen in 1500 cinemas around the world.
Stephen Davies, BBC Worldwide's Director of Live Events, commented: "Following the tremendous success of the 50th anniversary screenings, this is another wonderful opportunities for fans to get together to celebrate another major milestone and enjoy the amazing opening episode of the Peter Capaldi era on the big screen."
The exciting series premiere will mark Peter's first episode as the Time Lord after taking over from Matt Smith in the 2013 Christmas special.
Jenna Coleman, who plays Clara Oswald, will continue to assist the Doctor.

Helen Flanagan has quit Twitter.
The 23-year-old star usually enjoys keeping her 500,000 followers updated with the latest goings-on in her life on a daily basis, but she has stopped tweeting on the social networking site for good after being inundated with spiteful messages from trolls.
Her spokesperson told the Daily Star newspaper: "People were being really nasty about her."
The former 'Coronation Street' star - who is dating footballer Scott Sinclair - hasn't tweeted since July 22 when she wrote: "I am a vampire".
Helen has sent more than 10,000 tweets on the social networking site and amassed a large following, while she follows 1,464 people herself.
But she has stirred up some controversy while using the social media platform in the past, such as in March 2013 when she posted a picture of herself wearing a T-shirt in support of animal charity PETA shortly after posting images of her carrying leather bags.
In response to the criticism, she wrote: "I'm sorry but this is ridiculous leave me alone! I've done something for charity - exotic animals are killed in a cruel way for there skins, leather is not! Stop picking on me. Enough. (sic)"
And in 2012, Helen posted a picture of herself pointing a gun to her head just hours after the Sandy Hook shootings in the US.
She later went on ITV's Daybreak to apologise for sharing the picture and broke down in tears while admitting it was the "stupidest thing" she's ever done.
Helen is also a keen Instagram user but she hasn't uploaded a picture on the photo-sharing website since July 21.

Arthur Darvill has been trained to keep 'Broachurch' storylines a secret.
The 32-year-old actor won't give fans even the smallest hint about the upcoming second series of the hit ITV drama and jokes that he's now "unfoxable" following his unique experience on the first series.
Arthur learned to how to be stealthy about the plot after viewers - including his own nan - tried to pry the identity of schoolboy Danny Latimer's murderer out of him.
Talking to BANG Showbiz at the launch of new free-to-air channel truTV UK in east London yesterday (31.07.14), he said: "When the last series was on, everywhere I went everyone was like, 'Yeah, great, so who did it?' or bring it up in conversation trying to fox me, but I'm unfoxable. I've been trained in the ways of the fox."
The former 'Doctor Who' star - who plays Reverend Paul Coates on the show - couldn't even pop to the shops or visit his nan for a cup of tea without being bombarded with questions.
He joked: "It used to happen quite a lot at the supermarket, my family friends, around my nan's house for a cup of tea. I can't even tell my nan, much to her frustration."
The second series of 'Broadchurch' is currently being filmed in Dorset and according to Arthur, he and his co-stars Olivia Colman and David Tennant don't have much time to kick back and relax as their filming schedule is very demanding.
He shared: "There's a lot of work being done. There's not much hair being let down. It's all very busy at the moment."

Katy Perry says her divorce was the "death of a dream".
The 'Roar' hitmaker was left heartbroken when her marriage to Russell Brand ended in 2011 after just 14 months and she says the split was incredibly "traumatic".
She told Rolling Stone magazine: "It was emotionally traumatic for me. It was the death of a dream. I was in fairytale land, and the reality of it wasn't so."
However, the 29-year-old beauty - who has subsequently dated John Mayer and recently been romantically linked with producer Diplo - doesn't want to seem "desperate" by continually talking about her failed marriage.
She added: "But I don't really like talking about it anymore, because it feels like a thousand lifetimes ago, and also it makes me look desperate, like I need it for attention."
These days, the 'Part of Me' hitmaker claims she is more attracted to "colourful personalities" than any specific type of person.

John Legend found it "traumatic" when his parents split up.
The 'All of Me' hitmaker - who is married to Chrissy Tiegen - knows divorce is common in modern society, but admits he initially struggled to cope when his mother and father went their separate ways when he was a child.
He told People magazine: "I was 10 years old when my parents got divorced. It's a pretty common story in America, and it's a pretty tough time for kids, especially if they're still at home in the middle of growing up."
"Seeing my family fall apart was a traumatic moment."
John - who is working with Turnaround for Children, an organisation which helps schools through teacher training - credits the "emotional support" he received at school for getting him through the difficult time.
He said: "It was important to have teachers and counselors at school who could give emotional support.
"All of these people took extra time to show me that they cared and were going to hold me accountable."
The 35-year-old singer was very proud to graduate from the University of Pennsylvania and thinks completing his English studies was a sign he could go on to be successful.
He said: "One of the most determining factors of your success in life is whether you stick with something. Finishing school is a manifestation of that."

Johnny Depp performed with Aerosmith in Los Angeles on Wednesday night (30.07.14).
The 'Pirates of the Caribbean' actor joined his close pal Steven Tyler and bandmates Tom Hamilton, Joey Kramer, Joe Perry and Brad Whitford at The Forum in Inglewood where they played 'Big Ten Inch Record' together to the delight of the crowd.
As Johnny left the stage, Steven shouted: "LA, give it up for Johnny Depp! Lord knows I love that man. F**k yeah."
Meanwhile, Perry recently revealed that he enjoyed a jam session with Sir Paul McCartney, Alice Cooper and the actor in his own recording studio.
He told the Chicago Sun-Times newspaper: "It's the great ego leveller. I was in the studio with Alice Cooper and Johnny Depp, playing guitar, and the three of us are looking at each other like, hey, we're sitting here with Paul McCartney! And we're all looking at each other like open-mouthed kids.
"Paul was really nice. He's all about business (when he's recording). At 72 he can still hit all those notes... It's a project that we're keeping under wraps for now. There will be an announcement when the time is right...
"I met him once or twice over the years to say hello. To spend six or eight hours in a studio with him recording! He makes you feel like you're recording with just another guy. He just happens to be a motherf***ing huge talent!"

Joe Manganiello is "like a unicorn in the world of actors".
The 37-year-old actor insists that, unlike many other famous faces in Hollywood, he has honed his enviable physique through sheer hard work.
He told Men's Health magazine: "A lot of the actors who are on the cover of lifestyle magazines look like they've had their waistline airbrushed or they're wearing winter clothes or whatever.
"I see them and think, 'That guy doesn't work out, I know that guy and he smokes two packs of cigarettes a day and is a complete drunk on the weekends. Now he's putting out an illusion on the cover of a glossy magazine.' "
