Nicole Kidman's father died after suffering a heart attack inside a Singaporean hotel restaurant, according to reports.
Dr. Antony Kidman is believed to have passed away this morning (12.09.14) following a sudden heart attack while he was dining at the Wheelhouse restaurant at the Tanglin Club hotel before being rushed to Tan Tock Seng Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The clinical psychologist - who was in his 80s - had been holidaying in Singapore as he visited his daughter Antonia and his six grandchildren.
According to The Straits Times, paramedics were called to the scene after a doctor and several guests at the hotel failed to resuscitate Antony, who had just arrived at the restaurant following his morning exercise.
The police have announced they will be investigating the exact cause of death.
Nicole's publicist, who is also a close friend of the family, Wendy Day confirmed that Antony had suffered a fall after eating his breakfast.
She told Daily Mail Australia: "The family is in shock and is grieving ... I think that some time and privacy is needed to deal with this shock and tragedy."
The father of the Oscar-winning actress was a well-respected clinical psychologist at Royal North Shore Hospital in Australia and a director of health psychology at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) where he had worked for more than four decades.
A hospital worker told News Corp Australia: "We don't know how to deal with this at the moment or how to digest the fact he's gone."
In a statement, UTS Vice-Chancellor Professor Attila Brungs said: "It is with great sadness that we learn of Dr Tony Kidman's sudden passing.
"During his 43 years at the University of Technology, Sydney, Tony has contributed greatly - as a colleague, as a researcher, and as a health practitioner.
"Tony will be missed by all at UTS. Our thoughts are with his family at this time."

Britain's Duchess Camilla has spoken for the first time about the moment she was told her brother had died.
The 67-year-old royal - the wife of Prince Charles - received the heartbreaking news about Mark Shand's passing "on a glorious early Spring day in Scotland."
In an article published in The Times newspaper, she said: "An anguished voice on the other end told me that something terrible had happened to my brother; my indestructible brother, Mark. Surely nothing could have happened to him? ... My charismatic and sometimes infuriating brother, who had survived tsunamis, shipwrecks, poisoned arrows and even the fearsome Komodo dragons, was no longer with us."
Mr. Shand sadly passed away in April after he fell and smashed his head on the pavement in New York after attending an auction for The Elephant Family charity, which he co-founded in 2002.
Camilla then went on to talk about her brother's passion for protecting Asian elephants, which began when he rescued Tara during a visit to India in 1988.
Speaking ahead of her sibling's memorial service yesterday (11.09.14), she said: "They embarked on a thousand mile journey across the north of India and by its finale he was in love. This was the start of his life-long passion for India and his quest for the survival of the Indian Elephant.
She added: "They say that elephants never forget; Tara never forgot him and neither will we..."

Queen Elizabeth's horse Estimate won the Doncaster Cup today (12.09.14).
The 88-year-old monarch will have no doubt been celebrating when her thoroughbred equine raced to victory in the flat race at Doncaster Racecourse, South Yorkshire, on Friday.
Following the horse's impressive win, the five-year-old filly's jockey Ryan Moore insisted the victory was never in doubt.
He said: "She was never going to get beat today, she travelled so sweetly. I never really had to ask her a serious question."
Estimate's trainer Sir Michael Stoute also heaped praise on the equine.
Speaking on 'Channel 4 Racing', he said: "She can be a bit narky. It was great seeing her win. Goodwood didn't suit her, it was a bit too firm for her."
Estimate's latest triumph comes after she failed to retain the Gold Cup at Royal Ascot in June.
While she was cheered on by the queen, who took up her place in the Royal Box, the filly could only manage second place in the race, losing out to Irish contender Leading Light.
But Moore rode the horse to victory in the Royal Ascot showpiece in 2013, making it the first time the Gold Cup had been won by a reigning monarch.

Chaka Khan loves touching her audience.
The 'Ain't Nobody' hitmaker has revealed she prefers playing intimate venues - in particular the iconic London jazz club Ronnie Scott's - because she feels closer to her audience and enjoys being able to reach out and touch her fans.
She told MTV: "I love to touch the audience. When I played Ronnie Scott's, it was so intimate, I could really reach out and physically touch people."
The 70s singer - who released her first solo single 'I'm Every Woman' in 1978 and fronted the funk band Rufus - made the admission during a quick fire interview with the music channel in which she also admitted her son, Damien, failed to recognise one of her most famous tracks 'Sweet Thing' when it was covered by R&B singer Mary Blige 18 years later.
She explained: "I remember when my son came home from school and said, 'I just heard Sweet Thing by Mary J Blige'.
"I had to explain to him, 'Honey that's my song!'"
Despite enjoying a career that has spanned five decades, the 61-year-old singer admitted there were times when she thought about giving up music.
She said: "There have been many times when I've thought... what the hell am I doing?
"Life has many faces. It's not an easy, sweet ride."

Sir Tim Rice will receive the BMI Icon award.
The lyricist will be presented with the accolade at the BMI London Awards, which will be held at the Dorchester Hotel on October 13, 2014.
The famed songwriter is best known for his collaborations with the composer Sir Andrew Lloyd-Webber, with whom wrote the musicals, 'Evita' and 'Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat'.
He has also worked closely on several Disney films, including 'The Lion King', 'Aladdin' and 'Beauty and the Beast'.
Upon hearing the news, Sir Tim dedicated his award to fellow music legends who have helped him along the way.
He said: "I owe it all to Tommy Steele, Lonnie Donegan, Billy Fury, Marty Wilde, Cliff Richard and Joe Brown."
BMI President and CEO, Michael O'Neill said: "Sir Tim Rice's extraordinary creativity has given the world some of the most beloved songs of the past 50 years, sheer musical poetry that has thrilled audiences in films, musical theatre and on chart-topping recordings.
"He is one of our era's most admired and respected lyricists, a leading author and sough-after commentator. We are immensely proud to honor him as a BMI Icon."
The 69-year-old lyricist has also received three Best Song Oscars for "A Whole New World" (with Alan Menken), "Can You Feel The Love Tonight" (with Elton John), and "You Must Love Me" (with Andrew Lloyd Webber).
Previous winners of the BMI Icon Award include, the Sex Pistols frontman John Lydon, the rock band Queen, Ray Davies, Van Morrison and the musician Bryan Ferry.

James Franco wants to direct another two films based on William Faulkner's novels.
The 36-year-old actor-and-director has admitted that he would love to adapt another two novels by the modernist author, after starring in 'The Sound and the Fury' which is based on the 1929 book by the American writer.
Talking to The Guardian newspaper, James shared: "There's two more Faulkners we want to do: 'The Hamlet' and 'The Bear'. 'The Bear' would be difficult, just because you need a trained bear, but nowadays you could probably do a CGI or motion capture, like in 'Planet of the Apes'."
When asked why he feels such a connection to the author, who died in 1962, the handsome actor replied: "He's the granddaddy of southern writers. He's our high modernist writer. He goes hand in hand with James Joyce and Virginia Woolf and [Marcel] Proust. He's like our version of all of that.
"I think his best books are 'As I Lay Dying' and 'The Sound and the Fury', the two books that I've adapted. The world within the film takes place in the 1920s or earlier, but his writing is so complex and unusual that it allows me to use very contemporary film techniques and editing styles."
James then added that William's modernist writing style does make it more complicated for him as a director, but was quick to point out that he doesn't dislike this aspect of adapting the novels.
He said: "That's one of the reasons that I do it. It pushes me as a filmmaker to find solutions, and filmic techniques that I normally wouldn't use. I have to think, 'How do you get stream of consciousness?' And, 'How are we going to tell this non-linear story?' "

Daniel Bruhl got caught criticising 'The Face of An Angel' director Michael Winterbottom in an embarrassing on-set slip up.
The 36-year-old actor was caught gossiping in German about the movie - which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival last week (06.09.14) - whilst he was rehearsing scenes with his co-star Kate Beckinsale in front of the film director who, unbeknownst to Daniel, spoke the language perfectly.
Talking to the Daily Mail newspaper, Daniel confessed: "We'd shoot a scene and I'd look at Kate and start chatting away in German. She speaks French and Russian too, but we figured we could gossip about Michael and what we thought of the film in German because he wouldn't have any idea what we were talking about.
"We'd say things like, 'Oh, this scene doesn't make sense!' Or, 'What the hell was that about? Do you understand anything you're saying?'
"We'd be exaggerating it, laughing and joking and being a bit silly, but in German. We were both wired up by the sound guys and whatever we said could be heard, so we settled on German as a 'safe' language.
"Three weeks into filming, Michael suddenly made a comment in perfect German and at that point we realised he'd had us from the very beginning at 'Guten Tag'."
However, the actor insists Winterbottom didn't get offended by their comments and everyone was able to have a good laugh about their error.
Bruhl - who has also appeared in the movies 'Rush' and 'Inglourious Basterds' - said: "We felt very stupid but it was also very funny."

'Downton Abbey' star Joanne Froggatt has been letting her hair down in Ibiza.
The 34-year-old actress - who stars as Anna Bates in the ITV period drama - proved she's nothing like her character by partying to The Kooks at the Ibiza Rocks hotel on the Spanish island recently.
Joanne was joined at the gig by 'Game of Thrones' actress Natalie Dormer, her director husband Ian Byrne and TV presenter Laura Whitmore.
Not wanting to bring her night to an end after the show, she continued to celebrate the end of the summer season with her fellow stars, the band and even Blue singer Lee Ryan by heading to the Ibiza Rocks House at Pikes Hotel for more drinks and dancing.
Despite being more than happy to hit the Spanish party capital, where outfits often consist of little more than a bikini and a pair of hot pants, Joanne has previously revealed she feels slightly uncomfortable around naked people.
Speaking about an awkward encounter she once had, she said: "I had a very enthusiastic fan when I was in the gym changing room.
"She had her leg up on the table, and I was trying to look away when she said, 'Are you in Downton?'

Craig Charles was once picked up from the set of 'Coronation Street' in a helicopter.
The 50-year-old actor - who plays the role of Lloyd Mullaney in the ITV soap - has revealed how a fan once picked him up from the Manchester set in a helicopter as he was running late for a DJ set at music festival in the Lake District.
Speaking on 'This Morning', he told Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes: "I was working late and I was going to have to cancel the gig at the Kendal Calling Festival because I wasn't going to make it.
"So I tweeted asking if anyone had a helicopter - a guy replied saying, 'Yeah I have one', and he came to pick me up!"
Despite being best known for his acting roles in Corrie and 'Red Dwarf', Craig is also a keen DJ and claims he developed his love of music during his childhood, when he'd listen to his dad's records.
He explained: "My dad got me into music. He arrived in England in the 50s/60s with a pocket full of change and a bag full of records.
"He'd listen to Aretha Franklin, Otis Redding, Ray Charles, Harry Belafonte and all sorts of people."
And he admits he's even incorporated his taste in music into his soap character, who also "loves soul", saying, "It all weaves in".

Jack Whitehall says Judy Murray has an "ageless beauty".
The 'A League of Their Own' star has revealed he has a bit of a crush on tennis ace Andy Murray's mother, who is competing on the current series of BBC One celebrity dance contest 'Strictly Come Dancing', despite the 29-year age gap between them.
Speaking about his meeting with the 55-year-old tennis coach, he admitted: "Me and Judy have some history. When I see her it feels like we're dating, although maybe she doesn't feel the same.
"She is just a wonderful woman. I met her first when I was playing tennis for 'A League of Their Own' and she watched me and was impressed by my lob.
"I was very excited to see she was doing Strictly."
However, the 'Fresh Meat' actor, 26, confessed he felt a bit jealous when he saw pictures of her with all of the hunky male dancers.

Salma Hayek doesn't follow a religion because she doesn't want "anyone giving rules" to her relationship with God.
The actress-turned-director recently premiered her new animated film 'The Prophet' at the Toronto International Film Festival, which is based on Kahlil Gibran's poetry book of the same name.
The film focuses on religion, spirituality and love, three themes which the screen beauty is particularly passionate about.
Salma considers herself a spiritual person but she does not subscribe to any classic faith even though she was raised a Catholic.
Talking to The Guardian newspaper, Salma explained: "I am a spiritual person but I am not a religious spiritual person. I don't want anyone giving rules to my relationship with God. Sometimes I find spirituality in art or in science because it's about discovering the source of who we are. Spirituality is about creation and the exploration of the unknown.
"I was brought up as a Catholic and I have respect for it and I got a lot of good things out of it. I believe in values that are very similar to Catholics. I also like this Pope very much. I really like him!"
However, a reflective Salma is always disappointed by the division and hatred religion can cause among people.
The 48-year-old star shared: "I think that sometimes it's religion that keeps up separate though. If you take the religion out, if you take all the countries away, all the culture away, you will find that there is a purity to a human being and a unity to who we are."

Pete Wentz says his girlfriend Meagan Camper is "a natural" mother.
