Jennifer Hudson's half-brother has been arrested for allegedly repeatedly stabbing a love rival in the face.
Stephen Simpson is being held in custody in Michigan and is expected to be charged with attempted murder and home invasion after he purportedly knifed his victim while his estranged wife was in the apartment on Monday (18.08.14), US news channel 'WWMT' reports.
Neighbour Torrey Hunt says he found the victim bleeding and begging for help when he opened his door at 3am.
He explained: "He said someone knocked on the door, he thought he was knocking on the door for somebody, and he started getting stabbed up.
"I open the door and see blood everywhere. He was stabbed in his chin and his chest, he had puncture wounds in his chest and his arms and stuff."
Simpson, who is currently on probation, has a history of domestic violence and it is not known whether he has a close relationship with Jennifer.
The incident is likely to bring back terrible memories for the singer - who has the same father as the 45 year old - after her mother, brother and nephew were murdered in 2008.

The heavy metal bassist has admitted he and the rest of the legendary 'Girls Girls Girls' rockers - completed by Vince Neil, Mick Mars and Tommy Lee - were really disappointed by the immediate response when the group decided to embark on their last shows.
He told Rolling Stone magazine: "They said to us, 'This is a good marketing thing.' It really bummed us out. They said, 'You know, this is good for five years.'
"We were like, 'There's no f***in' way. Who do you think we are?' They said, 'The Who has done this, as has Kiss and tons of others.'
"That's when we came up with an idea to legally bind us into a contract so we'll never tour together again."
And while Nikki admitted the contract the band signed to ensure it is a true farewell tour actually has a loophole, he promised fans it is "never going to" be tested.
He explained: "If all four band members agree we could overrule our own contract. But that's never going to happen.

The long-awaited 'Ghostbusters 3' looks set to have a more female-led cast than the two earlier films.
That's according to Canadian producer and director Ivan Reitman, who's revealed he's discussed the issue with fellow director Paul Feig, the man who is leading the project.
He said: "On the drafts that I've been supervising, there's always been a very important female presence. It's nice to know that Paul is interested in the same thing. I met with him because I'll be producing whatever the new 'Ghostbusters' is.
"The studio is very interested in it, and certainly Aykroyd and I, and the late Harold Ramis until he passed away. We'll see. I don't like talking about it because this thing has been in such flux for so long that people, particularly online, are annoyed about it, and that's not anybody's desire or hidden plan."
The 67-year-old, who worked on the two earlier 'Ghostbusters' films, revealed that one issue delaying the project has been the reluctant attitude of Bill Murray.
He explained: "[Bill is] somewhat reluctant about most things. I think that affected the timing of things, to a great extent.
