Lorraine Kelly was forced off air by a fire alarm at ITV studios this morning (20.10.14).
The 54-year-old presenter had to bring her chat show 'Lorraine' to a close early due to an unknown incident which caused the alarms to blare through the studios with the message "this building is being evacuated".
As the alarm first sounded, the much-loved presenter turned to viewers and said "we're having some issues here, we're very sorry... anyway it was a big night on the 'The X Factor' with Cheryl losing two girls" with the programme then cutting to a montage recapping events from the ITV singing competition from the weekend.
However, Lorraine was determined to continue with her show as she sat down to interview eliminated 'X Factor' contestant Stephanie Nala, despite the alarms continuing to ring.
She told viewers: "We're going to carry on. So sorry about this, there's people running around trying to get it sorted ... First they got you off the 'X Factor' and now they're trying to get you out of here as well."
The show was dramatically taken off air at approximately 9.10am and replaced by a repeated episode of the 'National Trust', that was interrupted at 9.21am by a continuity announcer who revealed 'Lorraine' would not be returning.
The announcer said: "We're sorry about the disruption to 'Lorraine'. We'll be back tomorrow at 8.30."
Normal ITV programming resumed at 9.25am with 'The Jeremy Kyle Show'.
Lorraine took to her Twitter account to apologise to viewers, explaining that it is the first time such a scenario has taken place during her lengthy broadcasting career.
She tweeted: "So sorry! We had to evacuate the building. First time in 30 years!"
The official 'Lorraine' Twitter account revealed what had caused the disruption and confirming viewers will be able to watch an exclusive interview with Daniel Radcliffe on the show on Tuesday (21.10.14).
@ITVLorraine posted: "Sorry about the delay, we had a fire alarm during the show but all is ok now!
"Don't worry, you'll still get to see Lorraine chatting to #DanielRadcliffe - his interview will be shown later on this week. (sic)"

Simon Gregson was bullied by his teachers after landing his role on 'Coronation Street'.
The 40-year-old actor - who has played Steve McDonald on the ITV soap since 1989 - has confessed he struggled at school as he was singled out by teachers who picked on him because he landed a part of the soap at a young age, eventually causing him to abandon his education.
In an interview with the Daily Mirror newspaper, he said: "It still really upsets me. If people misbehaved at school someone would say it was me and I'd get dragged out of class.
"It happened more and more. The way some teachers spoke to me was terrible. I'd be in tears.
"[A teacher] kept saying, 'Who do you think you are? Just because you are off the telly.' I kept saying, 'Stop.' I was getting all teary. I was just a normal kid with this job, I was never cheeky to anyone."
He added: "I walked out of school and never went back. It has bothered me all my life."
Simon - who turned to alcohol and drugs to handle the pressures of fame when he was a teenager - ended up in therapy aged 18 having starred on the soap for just three years.
He said: "I had stress counsellors for a while. I would break down at home sometimes. I didn't like what came with fame. The intimidation and anger and violence. People seemed to hate me. It was extremely hurtful. They would think you were some big head show-off."
Fortunately Simon was able to pull himself together after a friend took him on a life-changing trip to Antigua in Guatemala.
He explained: "He took me to Guatemala, to a place called Antigua. I remember seeing little kid of two poke her head out of a box. I pointed her out and he said, 'That's her house, that's where she lives'.
"It was such a poor place. We saw terrible poverty, bandits, a terrible side of life, and he said 'Stop f**king complaining about your life.
"That was a light bulb moment - I thought, 'What you have are executive problems'. I re-found myself.
"I'm happy. Very content. I would leave everything as it was."

Nick Grimshaw will not present the Brit Awards 2015.
The dynamic host of the Radio 1 Breakfast Show has surprised many by silencing reports that he is to host the iconic British music awards next year, despite being the bookies favourite.
The 30 year old admitted that he is instead focusing on his role as host of the Barclaycard Mercury Prize, which takes place next week at Camden's Roundhouse, London.
When asked at the BBC Radio 1 Teen Awards at the SSE Arena in London whether he'd be hosting the ceremony, he told BANG Showbiz: "No! No we're not. I'm presenting the Mercury's though."
The 'Sweat the Small Stuff' host has been the hotly-tipped replacement for comedian James Corden since he announced that he would not be continuing to present the awards after three years of hosting.
Other favourites for the coveted job include Radio 1 presenters Fearne Cotton and Greg James or 'Celebrity Juice' host Keith Lemon.
His pop star co-host of the Radio 1 bash - which celebrated teen heroes from across the UK - Rita Ora, also denied any involvement in the ceremony, which is set to take place on Wednesday February 25 2015.
The 23-year-old 'I Will Never let You Down' singer is looking to release her second album in January so will be hoping to be receiving the awards rather than presenting them.
She added: "No. We are not, and I'll be finishing my album."

Shailene Woodley went on a health kick while filming 'White Bird in a Blizzard'.
The 22-year-old actress bought her own organic meals to the set and would only drink out of glass jars during shooting on the thriller.
Her 'White Bird in a Blizzard' co-star Mark Indelicato revealed that Shailene wasn't a fan of his smoking and even bought him a natural alternative.
He told the New York Post newspaper: "I smoke cigarettes and she's obviously not a big fan. But she gave me this jar of tobacco that's all natural."
Shailene's healthy lifestyle is clearly paying off, though, as she admitted that she looks "great" naked.
Talking about her sex scene in the film, she said: [It's] crazy. And sort of wrong. But I felt great doing it. I was not fully robed. And our bodies had no make-up. Who needs make-up? I'm only 22. My boobs are great. They don't need any help. My parents saw the film. I thought it might be awkward, but they both loved it."
She also urged other women to stop putting down their girlfriends.
Shailene said: "Women should be there for other women. It's such cruelty and competition out there. Women must help other women. Not say those ugly things about the others just out of their insecurity. I don't believe in that."

Eddie Murphy is to play the lead role in 'Cook'.
The 53-year-old actor has been cast in the drama movie - based on a true story - as a chef who is hired by a dying man to make meals and care for his girlfriend and daughter after he has passed away.
The film is being directed by Bruce Beresford, while Susan McMartin penned the script and '300' producer Mark Canton is among the producers on the flick.
According to reports, Samuel L. Jackson was originally up for the part but he had to turn it down because of scheduling conflicts on other projects.
No other casting announcements have been made and
Shooting is due to start on 'Cook' in November.
Previously speaking to Empire about the film, Canton described the plot as a "great" story and says people will see wisecracking Eddie in a totally different to what they're used to.
He told the magazine: "It's a great screenplay. It's a small story - a true story - of a family and a guy who comes into their lives. You have to come up with either really great big franchise driven movies or little character driven movies. Those are the two businesses to be in. I'm in both ... This will be Eddie Murphy like you've never seen him. Of that I can assure you."
Eddie is also reprising his most famous role as fast-talking Detroit police detective Axel Foley in 'Beverly Hills Cop IV'.

Prince Charles' former personal chef has claimed a secret services agent used to watch him prepare meals to make sure he wasn't poisoning the royal.
Atul Kochhar has recalled how his every move in the kitchen used to be under scrutiny while he was making his specialty curries for the heir to the throne, and he has admitted it was really "off-putting" being watched all the time.
According to the Sunday Mirror newspaper, the 45-year-old cook said: "Prince Charles has never complained, in fact he is a gentleman and always eats everything he is served and says thank you to you when you meet him, he was very gracious and complimented me.
"But actually when you are cooking there is a secret service person watching you at all times which is a really off-putting."
Atul is said to have made the comments while chatting to TV presenters Lisa Snowdon and Steve Jones behind the scenes of Channel 4 show 'Weekend Kitchen' yesterday (19.10.14), and the top chef also revealed Charles is a fan of spicy curries.
A source told the publication: "Atul has always found it a real honour to cook for royalty but it just shows how much pressure there is on the catering staff not only to provide good food, but to make sure he doesn't get ill.
"It sounds like something out of medieval times when food tasters were employed to check for deadly substances before royalty could touch it."
As well as enjoying home-cooked meals, Charles also likes to eat out on occasions and was left devastated in 2008 when one of his favourite restaurants, The Neal Street Restaurant, which was situated on Neal Street in London, had to close in 2008.
Owner Antonio Carluccio, 77, recently said: "It was heartbreaking. The customers were upset too.
"I even had a personal letter from Prince Charles commiserating the fact that the restaurant had to close."

Shailene Woodley's parents "loved" her sex scene in her new movie.

An autopsy was not carried out on Joan Rivers' body.
The former 'Fashion Police' host passed away last month due to surgery complications, and though the New York City Medical Examiner was able to conclude the cause of death was due to a deprivation of oxygen to the brain, the exact nature of what caused the problem will never be known as the 81-year-old star's daughter Melissa told doctors she didn't want a pathologist to examine her mother's corpse, sources told TMZ.
According to state law, doctors will honour the requests if there is no evidence of criminality associated with the death.
While it was determined Joan had suffered a "predictable" complication from the procedure itself, the decision not to carry out a post-mortem examination meant it was impossible to establish if there had been trauma such as a puncture in the throat.
The New York City Medical Examiner's Office released a statement last week stating that Joan's brain had been starved of oxygen after she suffered cardiac and respiratory arrest on the operating table.
The report reads: "OCME has completed its investigation. The cause of Ms Rivers' death is anoxic encephalopathy due to hypoxic arrest during laryngoscopy and upper gastrointestinal endoscopy with propofol sedation for evaluation of voice changes and gastroesophageal reflux disease.
"The manner of death is therapeutic complication. The classification of a death as a therapeutic complication means that the death resulted from a predictable complication of medical therapy."
The showbiz veteran had been undergoing the throat operation at the private Yorkville Endoscopy in New York City, but was rushed to Mount Sinai hospital and placed in a medically-induced coma after doctors failed to resuscitate her at the clinic.

Leonardo DiCaprio has produced a gorilla documentary that will air on Netflix.
The 'Wolf of Wall Street' actor has teamed up with the subscription TV service to create 'Virunga', a documentary that explores a gorilla preservation at the Virunga National Park in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the movie-documentary follows a group of park rangers who are trying to protect the endangered primates from poachers, and the superstar environmentalist has overseen some very "gripping" footage.
In a statement, Ted Sarandos, Netflix's chief content officer said: "Leo intuitively understands that there is nothing like the power of film to reach people's hearts and minds.
"With 'Virunga', we'll work with Leo to introduce viewers around the world to an incredible, gripping story that will have audiences guessing right up until the final act."
It's not the first time Leonardo has spoken out on environmental issues.
In September, the 39-year-old actor spoke at the UN climate summit to encourage the world to take global warming more seriously.
Speaking at the event, Leonardo said: "I am not a scientist, but I don't need to be. Because the world's scientific community has spoken, and they have given us our prognosis, if we do not act together, we will surely perish."
'Virunga' will be available on Netflix and in theatres in Los Angeles and New York from November 7.

Ariana Grande turned to fellow popstar Miley Cyrus for advice after being branded a diva.
The 21-year-old singer - who has been surrounded by claims of diva-like antics since her life coach reportedly quit because he "couldn't handle" her behaviour - was "heartbroken" over the claims about her bad attitude so sought advice from the 'Wrecking Ball' hitmaker..
Ariana told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "I was upset and I contacts Miley. I said, 'Miley, I'm so sad - what do I do? This isn't true. My heart is broken, I feel so bad.
"She was like, 'Girl don't even look at it. Just be happy that you're blessed. You have family and friends love you, you have fans that love you who know what's true and what's not. It will blow over and tomorrow they'll be talking about something else.'
"She lives for love and that's something I do too. She has a beautiful spirit and that made me feel so much better."
The ex-Nickelodeon star - who has also been branded high-maintenance and difficult to work with on photo shoots - believes she has only been labelled a diva because she is a woman.
She explained: "If you see a woman working hard who is successful - who doesn't stop until she reaches her goal, who is strong and has wishes and dreams she wants to fulfill and works had ever day - you label them a diva.
"But if you see a man doing that, you're like, 'He's incredible, he's an amazing businessman'."

Simon Cowell "stormed off" to his dressing room following last night's (19.10.14) 'X Factor' after Mel B accused one of his acts of cheating.
The music mogul is said to be "furious" with his fellow judge for claiming Fleur East, who is in Simon's Over-25s category, was acting unfairly because her backing singers were too loud against her own voice during her rendition of Monie Love's 'It's A Shame' on Saturday night's (18.10.14) show.
The former Spice Girl's comments were said to still be a sore point after last night's 'Xtra Factor', with the panellist pair both choosing to return to their own dressing rooms instead of having a de-brief about the weekend's shows.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "Simon was absolutely furious with Mel over what she said. He has really moulded Fleur and he thinks she's got a real chance of winning the competition, going on to have a great career and ultimately making him a lot of money.
"There's nothing worse than being branded a cheater and even at this stage of the show, it could be a difficult tag to shake off. Usually after Xtra Factor the judges will have a bit of a debrief and a chat, but Simon was so angry he stormed off to his dressing room.
"Mel didn't want to see him either, so she stayed holed up until 1am and didn't come out until pretty much everyone had gone home."
Following Fleur's performance on Saturday, Mel told her: "That was a great performance, the only thing is on that chorus I didn't hear your voice pop against the backing track so I found that a little bit like cheating."
But Simon immediately blasted the 39-year-old singer's opinion, insisting her verdict was "unfair".
What's more, fellow judge Cheryl Fernandez-Versini is said to be fuming with Simon after he compared her look to 'The Muppets' character Kermit the Frog when she wore a green dress on Saturday night's show.
An insider added: "Cheryl is absolutely livid with Simon for his Kermit gag. She considers herself to be a bit of an expert on fashion, so getting abuse from a man who wears one of about three outfits every day is a bit much."
There was a double blow for Cheryl on Sunday night's show as two of her four acts, Stephanie Nala and Chloe-Jasmine Whichello, were given the boot from the programme leaving the former Girls Aloud singer with Lauren Platt and Lola Saunders.
