Elton John reveals secrets for biopic

Sir Elton John has revealed the secrets of his rehab diaries for his upcoming biopic starring Tom Hardy.
The 'Dark Knight Rises' star is to portray the 67-year-old musician in a new film, which will focus on his struggle with addiction, following his decision to reveal the secrets of the diaries he wrote while in rehab.
'Billy Elliot' writer Lee Hall - who has written the script for the project - claims Elton personally handed him his private journals.
Hall told The Sun newspaper: "One day he took me to his house and opened a safe and he had all his private diaries that nobody had seen from when he was in rehab and left me there to read all his stuff.
"But he's never commented once on the script, he hasn't interfered at all."
Elton entered rehab in the 1990s, at which point he was heavily dependent on drink and drugs, and he's confessed in the past that it was only when he was at his lowest ebb that he decided to seek help.
Reflecting on his troubles, Elton explained previously: "I would have an epileptic seizure and turn blue and people would find me on the floor and put me to bed and then 40 minutes later I'd be snorting another line."
Hardy, 36 is currently shooting in London for the Kray twins biopic 'Legend' and has a number of films lined up for release including 'The Drop', 'Child 44' and 'Mad Max: Fury Road'.

Chris Pratt’s ’80s inspiration in Guardians

Chris Pratt says being a child of the 1980s helped him to prepare for 'Guardians of the Galaxy'.
The new Marvel movie makes many references to '80s pop culture and the soundtrack is largely comprised of hit songs from the era, so the 35-year-old actor was able to bring his own experiences to the film.
Pratt's alter-ego Peter Quill travels with an '80s mix-tape which holds sentimental value after he is abducted from Earth as a youngster by an alien ship in 1988.
Speaking exclusively to BANG Showbiz at the European premiere of 'Guardians' in London's Leicester Square last night (24.07.14), the actor said: "What I wanted to bring to the character was this feeling of what it was like to be a nine-year-old in the '80s and what were the pop icons?
"Peter and I are the same exact age, both born in '79, I was nine in 1988 - just like him - and I know what those movies meant to me, everything from 'Star Wars' to 'Back to the Future' and things in between, 'Footloose', the soundtrack ... I understood what it was like to be that child of the '80s and imagine what it would be like if I was swept into space and allowed to pursue my alter-ego."
Meanwhile, Pratt's co-star Dave Bautista - who plays Drax the Destroyer - revealed there was a relaxed, humorous environment on set.
He said: "It was a fun cast, we were always joking around. There were more than a few takes where we didn't keep straight faces and burst out laughing."
Pratt and Bautista were joined on the blue carpet by co-stars Zoe Saldana, Karen Gillan and Vin Diesel, as well as director James Gunn.
Other guests included 'Avengers' director Joss Whedon, 'Thor' actor Chris Hemsworth, 'Star Wars' icon Mark Hamill, Ben Hardy, Collabro, Kingsland Road and more.

No Downton romance for Lady Mary and Branson

Downton Abbey's Lady Mary Crawley and Tom Branson won't have a romance, insists Michelle Dockery.
Fans have speculated the grieving pair - who both lost their respective partners in the third series - may find comfort in each other, but the 32-year-old actress is adamant her alter-ego won't fall for her brother-in-law.
Mary's husband Matthew Crawley perished in a fatal car crash in the Christmas 2012 special, while her sister Lady Sybil - Tom's wife - died during childbirth earlier in the same series.
Michelle told The Sun newspaper: "Mary and Tom's friendship has really grown. They are both looking for love - just not with each other."
The Emmy-nominated actress believes her character has found her independence since her husband's death and will be more assertive than ever in the upcoming fifth series.
She explained: "Mary is embracing her new life, she has grown up. In the first series, she was this very young, spoilt girl with everyone telling her what to do and her trying to break free of that.
"But now she is a woman and a mother. She is old enough to make her own decisions."
While the hit show is full of high drama, the mood off-set is far more relaxed.
Michelle added: "We're always laughing - sometimes it's hard for us to keep a straight face."

Jo Brand: Britain’s Got Talent is ‘cruel’

Jo Brand has slammed 'Britain's Got Talent' as "cruel".
The 57-year-old comedienne - who acted as a judge on ITV celebrity reality show 'Splash!' - has slammed the channel's talent shows, claiming they exploit people with mental illnesses.
She said: "I have a huge ambivalence to shows like 'The X Factor' and particularly 'Britain's Got Talent' because I think they wheel on people who have mental health problems for other people to laugh about.
"I feel very angry about that. It is easy for all of us to take the p*ss out of someone who thinks they can sing when they can't and I think that's very cruel. The field of mental illness is very complex because as well as issues like schizophrenia or depression there are lots of other different shades of problems.
"Someone may have a personality disorder or schizoaffective disorder. There's also delusion but sometimes that can be a symptom of schizophrenia."
The 'QI' star and former mental health nurse also insisted that individuals with these illnesses who try out for Simon Cowell's talent search contests need people around them to help them understand they may not be as skilled as they believe themselves to be.
Jo told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "I don't understand why their families can't tell them the truth. Or are they so socially isolated that they don't have family and friends to tell them the truth?
"It's more and more a feature of society - to hold people up to ridicule for one reason or another."

Miranda Hart won’t do another Miranda series

Miranda Hart won't film another full series of 'Miranda' but has promised a Christmas special.
The actress-and-comedienne has revealed there are no plans for a fourth series of her hit BBC sitcom, but she will star in the odd special in a similar manner to 'The Royle Family'.
Talking to Alan Carr on his 'Chatty Man Summer Special' - which airs on Channel 4 tonight (25.07.14) - she explained: "It will be a couple of specials, not a full series. Everyone wants me to get back with Gary [Barlow] - that's the general vibe.
"I have got to answer the question of where I left it at [the end of] series three. I think I know what's going to happen."
Miranda won't be resting on her laurels, though, as she resumes her popular comedy tour, 'My, What I Call', in October.
She shared: "I am going back on tour, a week at The O2 in London and Wembley. I try to feel like a pop star when I play The O2. I pretend to be Madonna backstage. Is that sad?"
She might pretend to act like a pop star on stage, but when it comes to partying like one, Miranda isn't so keen.
While discussing festivals with Alan, the 41-year-old comic joked: "I think once you are over 36 you should not go to music festivals. You have to do that boots-and-shorts thing and it's not for me.
"When I am 60 or 70 I might start going. I will stop caring then and will do drugs."

Karen Gillan won’t switch UK for Hollywood

Karen Gillan insists she won't abandon Britain for Hollywood.
The 26-year-old actress is set to star in new US sitcom 'Selfie', but she won't make a permanent move to Los Angeles if the show's a success.
Speaking at the European premiere of her new film 'Guardians of the Galaxy' in London's Leicester Square last night (24.07.14), Karen exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "I'm not going to leave the UK, I promise. I'm coming home as much as possible.
"I miss home so much, I have to be totally honest."
But the former 'Doctor Who' star - who will play a vapid American girl in the new comedy - admits she felt the need to expand her acting horizons because she doesn't want to be stuck making British period dramas.
She said: "The opportunities for actresses my age out there are really amazing. They're amazing here too, but I feel like it's a lot of period dramas and I don't really want to wear a corset for the rest of my career."
Karen's former boss, 'Doctor Who' executive producer Steven Moffat, showed support for the flame-haired beauty at the 'Guardians of the Galaxy' premiere and he was full of praise for the starlet.
However, he doesn't feel he deserves credit for bringing her to worldwide attention by casting her as Amy Pond.
Steven enthused: "It's phenomenal! I suppose she is a film star, she looks like one and she's genuinely, hugely talented and tremendously ambitious.
"I don't deserve an iota of the credit. I'm lucky in some casting choices of late, but it's easy to spot brilliant people. It's Karen's talent that's taken her here."

Ryan Seacrest to host Fashion Rocks

Ryan Seacrest will host 'Fashion Rocks'.
The charity event - which will be attended by an impressive array of celebrities - combines the world of fashion with musical performances and will broadcast on US TV network CBS for the first time since 2008.
The 'American Idol' presenter can't wait to get on stage at Brooklyn's Barclays Center on September 9 for the event.
He said: " I'm always excited to be a part of live events, and Fashion Rocks combines three of my favourite things - music, fashion and New York City."
Ryan added that he was determined to "make it an amazing and memorable night".
A huge string of diverse musical performers have already been confirmed for the two-hour extravaganza, including Jennifer Lopez, KISS, Pitbull, The Band Perry, Duran Duran, Afrojack, Miranda Lambert, Rita Ora, and Usher.
Richard Beckman, Executive Producer for Fashion Rocks said: "Fashion Rocks is the only show that celebrates the inextricable link between fashion and music, a relationship that is more relevant today than ever before.
"For the first time we'll air the event live during Fashion Week from Barclays Center. It will be a spectacular affair, featuring some of the world's most talented musicians as well as today's hottest fashions."
'Fashion Rocks' is to air on CBS on September 9, while tickets for the event will go on sale August 1.

Tom Petty rules out solo album

Tom Petty never wants to make another album without his band.
The 63-year-old musician recorded a solo record 'Highway Companion' in 2006 but with the release of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers' latest album 'Hypnotic Eye' he can't see himself ever wanting to work without the group again.
He told The Sun newspaper: "I don't see that I have anything to offer as a solo artist that I couldn't do within the group better.
"We get along so well it's embarrassing really. It's a love fest!"
However, that doesn't mean they don't have some disagreements.
Original bassist Ron Blair, is back after a 20-year hiatus between 1982 and 2002 and Petty explained: "Even now, a friendly argument will start about something that happened in, say, '72. 'Remember when there was only one cheesecake in room service, I ordered it and you took it off the tray before it got to my room. That p****d me off!'"
While Tom is happy with their new record, he admitted he could never hope to emulate the legendary performers of the past.
He explained: "None of us can compete with Bob Dylan even now you know. He's far above us all.
"Music was so good when I was young. At 10, I was obsessed with becoming a record fan."
"I came to befriend some old records, Elvis and Jerry Lee Lewis and all that good Fifties rock 'n' roll. I learned all that stuff so by the time The Beatles came along, it was like, 'Wow! This is my music, the music of my generation.'"

Lana Del Rey still gets stage fright

Lana Del Rey still gets stage fright.
While the 29-year-old singer struggled terribly with the affliction at the start of her career, she believes she is getting better but sometimes still feels like she's not sure if she can perform.
Speaking about Cat Power, who has been open about her own struggle with stage fright and still plays through it, Lana told Rolling Stone: "That's why I really liked Cat Power, because I felt like I really understood her.
"She was a person who really meant a lot to me, just knowing that it was okay to start your performance with your back to the audience, at first, if you really couldn't face it. I mean, a lot of the time I just really felt like, 'I'm not really sure if I can do it.' But I mean, I've gotten better."
While Lana's latest album 'Ultraviolence' has won widespread praise, she admitted producer Dan Auerbach found her quite tough to work with.
She said: "I would explain things to him in terms of colours and touchstone words. My word for the record was 'fire,' you know, blue fire, when a flame gets so hot it goes from red to blue. And I told him I wanted everything to sound like it was in the key of blue. And I think at first he was like, 'What the f**k?'"

Pras Michel accused of being absentee dad

Pras Michel's four-year-old son lives in a tiny studio apartment while the former Fugees star enjoys a life of luxury, his ex-girlfriend has claimed.
Angela Severiano has taken Pras to court in order to have his child support payments for their son increased from $3,000 to $7,000 a month so she can afford a bigger property for them to live in.
According to the New York Post newspaper's Page Six column, she said in court on Thursday (24.07.14): "This isn't about Pras. It's about my son who lives in a shoebox.
"[Pras] has been fighting against his own son's well being."
Angela claims that she and their son, Landon, share the tiny flat where he sleeps in a converted bedroom while she makes do with sleeping in the living room.
Pras did not comment except to scream at a reporter "Get the f**k out of my face" following the hearing at Manhattan Family Court.
He reportedly made over $1 million last year and spends $50,000 renting homes in New York and Los Angeles.
The rapper is scheduled to testify in September about why he believes he shouldn't increase his payments.
His appearance in court on Thursday comes after he skipped the first hearing last month.

Demi Moore approves of Rumer’s boyfriend

Demi Moore approves of her daughter's new relationship.
The 'Ghost' actress has given the "seal of approval" to British actor Ricky Whittle after Rumer Willis brought him to her mother's Los Angeles home, and the 51-year-old star has even invited him on a family holiday.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "Ricky got the seal of approval after he met Demi at home in Hollywood. She admired his six-pack and invited him on a family holiday in the Turks and Caicos islands."
Rumer, 25, now plans to introduce 32-year-old Ricky - who she has been dating for three months - to her father, Hollywood hardman Bruce Willis, with a meeting planned for next week.
The source added: "Things are really serious between Rumer and Ricky."
Though the couple have only been dating for three months, the 'House Bunny' star is said to be "inseparable" from her new lover.
A source said recently: "They are inseparable and using the 'L' word already.
"Rumer sees him as a permanent fixture in her life."
Since moving to Los Angeles, 'Mistresses' actor Ricky has been romantically linked with actresses Jessica Szohr and Sandra Hinojosa, while Rumer previously dated actor Jayson Blair.

Naya Rivera had 12 wedding guests

Naya Rivera's wedding was attended by just 12 guests.
The 'Glee' actress tied the knot with friend Ryan Dorsey at the Las Ventanas al Paraiso resort in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, earlier this month and the groom's father Arnold Dorsey says the "beautiful" ceremony was very intimate.
Among the group were Naya's mother Yolanda and her stepfather, but not her father, Arnold and his wife Rhonda, Ryan's mother, his ex-wife Cheryl and her husband David and Ryan's brother Aaron.
And after the "strictly family" wedding - which saw guests dine on a feast of steak, shrimp, seabass, lobster and flatbreads - friends of the couple joined them for a celebration.
Arnold admitted the wedding also came as a shock to family members, and they only knew it was happening six weeks ago.
He told the MailOnline website: "We knew about the wedding six weeks ago, still, it was a bit of a shock!
"I met Naya a couple of weeks ago, I was working in California and I drove up to her house. She's very tiny, real petite, but real down to earth, not with her nose stuck up in the air."
Naya - who was due to marry former boyfriend Big Sean on July 19, the day she tied the knot with Ryan - first met her new spouse in a nightclub four years ago and they became friends, but Arnold says his son wasn't interested in a relationship back then.
He said: "I knew she met him at some kind of a party, she saw him across a dance club and she went to talk to him.
"He was a playboy, he didn't want to settle down, he wanted to concentrate on his work. But they remained friends and I guess they hooked up after the engagement from Big Sean was dropped."
