The Killers’ ‘Human’ voted most baffling song

The Killers' 'Human' has topped a poll to find the most baffling song lyrics.
According to music streaming service blinkbox Music, which polled 2,000 people in Britain, 30 per cent of people found the line "Are we human, or are we dancer?" completely puzzling.
Martin Cloonan, Professor of Popular Music Politics at Glasgow University, said: "Brandon Flowers of The Killers has admitted that the line is taken from a Hunter S. Thompson quote: 'We're raising a nation of dancers.' Flowers said: 'I say that it's a mild social statement, and that's all I'm gonna say.' "
The Beatles' "I am the eggman, they are the eggmen, I am the walrus," (27 per cent) from 'I am the Walrus' was in second place, with Michael Jackson's "What about elephants? Have we lost their trust?" (18%) from 'Earth Song' taking the third spot.
Professor Cloonan said of 'I Am The Walrus': "John Lennon spoke of writing some of this while on an acid trip, which might help explain things. It is an exercise in surrealism and word play - a true highlight of UK psychedelia. Lennon did once declare that 'The Walrus was Paul' but it appears to in fact be a reference to Lewis Carroll's 'The Walrus and the Carpenter' and so, a reference to surreal or imaginary worlds."
And speaking about Michael Jackson's 'Earth Song', he added: "Ultimately this is a misjudged protest song, which sees a world in which the innocent simply have things done to them by malevolent forces. It could be construed as an attack on the ivory trade."
Lionel Richie's 'All Night Long' (12 per cent) and Carly Rae Jepson's, 'Call Me Maybe' (11 per cent) complete the top five.
Rounding out the top 10 are Black Eyed Peas, 'Boom Boom Pow' (10 per cent), Duran Duran, 'The Reflex' (eight per cent), Wham!, 'Club Tropicana' - (eight per cent), Taylor Swift, 'Love Story' (seven per cent) and Oasis, 'Champagne Supernova' (seven per cent).

Lily Allen compares Miley Cyrus to Oasis

Lily Allen has compared Miley Cyrus' live performances to those of Oasis and The Stone Roses.
The 'Hard Out Here' singer has joined Miley on the latest leg of her 'Bangerz' US tour and after catching the show in London in May, Lily was blown away by Miley.
She told Billboard: "I saw it at The O2 in London, and I'm not exaggerating when I say it's one of the best shows that I've seen in years. It's up there with an Oasis show or The Stone Roses or something. It's kind of incredible to watch - she's a real force. There's no two ways about it, she's meant to be up there doing that.
"She's incredible, and she has such a presence. Her personality is what shines through. I'm not close to Miley. I don't know her very well, but I feel proud of her."
Lily is a big fan of Miley and recently revealed plans to introduce daughters Ethel, two, and 18-month-old Marnie, to the 'Wrecking Ball' singer when her kids join her in the States.
Lily - who is married to Sam Cooper - said: "They are going to meet me in New York and then come on the bus with me and Miley.
"Although I don't think Miley will be on my bus, she's probably got other plans!"

Ray Winstone: I questioned by beliefs after Noah

Ray Winstone says filming 'Noah' made him question his beliefs.
The 57-year-old actor - who starred opposite Russell Crowe in the biblical epic - admits playing Tubal-cain in the movie made him think more about his own religion as well as contemplating his own mortality.
Speaking to Loaded magazine, he said: "Of course 'Noah' made me think of that [religion]. If you're doing your job properly and you get in there and you really buy into the film, of course you question it because it's an education, you know?"
However, Winstone doesn't like to define himself with a religious group but insists he does have some sort of belief otherwise he wouldn't have strength to get up every day and determination to reach for his goals.
He explained: "I wouldn't call myself a Christian - I wouldn't put a name to what I am.
"I'm not calling myself a Christian or a Muslim or a Jew - that's what causes wars. [But] of course I believe in something. There wouldn't be much point in getting out of bed in the morning if I didn't believe in anything, d'you know what I mean?
"You have to have a belief, and whatever that is - you've got to have some sort of soul.

Chris Pratt shocked by Hollywood success

Chris Pratt is shocked by the attention he has received in Hollywood over the past 10 years.
The 35-year-old actor admits he didn't expect to be as successful as he has become but he feels grateful for everything that has come his way.
Speaking to 'CNN', he said: "You know, I feel like, jeez, it's been cool, it's been really cool. I came to Hollywood expecting to do everything but not really knowing what that looked like, so I was just as excited when I got my first commercial as I am now, you know what I mean?
"I have enjoyed this entire journey, the whole time I have been at this for 15 years. My enthusiasm has been turned up to 10 since about 2001 when I didn't have to be a waiter anymore."
Meanwhile, Pratt's wife Anna Faris - who has a successful movie career of her own - admits she is "so lucky" to have him and is proud of his achievements.
She said previously: "I'm so proud of him! He's been away, so that part's been hard - he's shooting 'Jurassic World' right now in New Orleans and our baby's not quite two yet. But it's exciting! I'm like, 'My husband's a movie star! What happened? How did I get so lucky? Does he still like me?' "

Daniel Radcliffe movie premiere axed

Daniel Radcliffe was unable to walk the red carpet at the Mexican premiere of 'What If' because of crowd problems.
The 25-year-old actor had been due to appear at the event yesterday (31.08.14) but Mexico City's civil protection agency ordered distributor Diamond Films Mexico to suspend the screening - which was due to take place at a local shopping mall - after an unexpectedly large number of fans arrived early at the venue in the hope of catching a glimpse of their idol.
Diamond Films said: "We appreciate the response and enthusiasm for this event. Sorry, but this decision is out of our control."
The premiere for the movie - which is directed by Michael Dowse and also stars Zoe Kazan - still went ahead, but without the cast in attendance.
Daniel recently admitted he loved gorging on calorific 'Fool's Gold' sandwiches - which are made up of a whole loaf of bread, a jar of jam, a jar of peanut butter, bacon rashers and loads of butter - while filming 'What If'.
He said: "If you can get a job where people will pay you to eat Fool's Gold sandwiches, take it.
"Zoe hated it, but she grew up here and I grew up in England. In LA you're all very healthy here, but I am not. I am 70 per cent Fool's Gold. I enjoyed it a lot."

Karrueche Tran dumps Chris Brown

Karrueche Tran has ended her relationship with Chris Brown for good.
The 26-year-old beauty is reportedly tired of her on/off boyfriend's "immature" ways and thinks he is ruining his life by putting partying ahead of making music.
A source told TMZ: "Chris acts immature, like a child."
According to the website, the final straw for Karrueche was when the 'Yeah 3x' hitmaker liked two fan photos on Instagram of himself and ex-girlfriend Rihanna - who he has been frequently re-linked with during his off periods with the model - together.
In response to the split, Chris has jetted off to St. Tropez on holiday - and took a good friend of his former lover with him in a bid to make her jealous.
However, far from getting the reaction he wanted, Karrueche has now changed her phone number so the 25-year-old singer is unable to contact her.
In a recent interview, Karrueche recently admitted Rihanna had caused problems with her relationship with Chris because her many fans have opinions about the situation.
She said: "In this case my boyfriend is a celebrity whose ex-girlfriend is an even bigger [celebrity]...so, I'm not only am I fighting a battle with her, I'm fighting a battle with her 14 million fans or however else.
"So, imagine how that feels for me when I gotta get on Twitter and I see a whole bunch of stuff...they make up all kinds of crazy stuff and it's like they know nothing about me.
"But, you know, because they know nothing about me, because I stay so mute sometimes, that leaves open space for them to say whatever they want."

Kelly Rowland will focus on marriage

Kelly Rowland will focus on her husband when her baby is born.
The 'Motivation' singer and her manager spouse Tim Witherspoon will welcome their first child, a son, into the world later this year and she says one of the best pieces of advice she has been given so far is not to neglect her marriage.
She said on 'The Insider': "The best advice I have recently gotten was actually from a girlfriend of mine. She said, 'You know, the best thing to do is focus on that husband.'
"You got the baby, but focus on your husband just to make sure he is happy because now you have two babies."
Kelly, 33, recently admitted her baby wasn't planned, but she and her spouse are very excited and have already chosen a name.
She said: "It was a surprise, I can definitely tell you that. It was a great surprise!
"The dad picked out the name. It has to do with family."
The former Destiny's Child singer is really enjoying her pregnancy, but is struggling to adjust to her new curves.
She said: "I had no morning sickness. I feel great.
"The most shocking thing about pregnancy to me is probably the way your body changes -- nobody can prepare you for that. Not a book, not anything. You just go through it."

Conan O’Brien not interested in reality stars

Conan O'Brien isn't interested in interviewing reality TV stars.
The 51-year-old talk show icon has seen celebrity culture evolve since he first took the airwaves on 'Late Night with Conan O'Brien' in 1993 but he's more interested in talking to people who are known for a talent than stars of reality TV like 'Jersey Shore'.
His comments come after Chelsea Handler - who quit her show 'Chelsea Lately' - revealed she was "sick" of talking about the likes of the Kardashians.
Quizzed about Chelsea's controversial remarks, Conan exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "We don't do as many reality stars just because most of them aren't that interesting to talk to. I like people that have really achieved something, and have crafted a career, and are fascinating to talk to.
"I don't think I've ever talked to the Bachelor or the Bachelorette, just because I don't know what we'd talk about - 'Oh, so you were on a show and pretended to fall in love with somebody and then you got a free vacation. So what else is going on?' I don't know that the conversation would go anywhere.
"If someone was 18 years old and climbed the Matterhorn, I want to talk to them and say, 'How the hell did you that?' If someone's a great film icon, if someone wrote something amazing, if somebody pulled off some great feat at the Olympics - I want to talk to them because it's inherently interesting. There's only so far you can get talking to the ninth person on 'Jersey Shore'. It's like, 'OK... you got a tan, and went to the gym, and then got another tan.' "
Conan has interviewed Hollywood royalty such as Tom Hanks and Madonna over the years but he he has still yet to secure a chat with iconic actor-and-director Clint Eastwood.
He said: "I've talked to just about everybody but I haven't talked to Clint Eastwood, who I cite because he's one of the old guard [of Hollywood]. I've never even met him - it'd be cool to meet Clint Eastwood.
"And Cher, just to see what she looks like now! She's changing constantly. I just want to get a good look at Cher up close, that's all. I'll have a jeweller's loop in my eye. I wanna see what she's all about."
Catch 'Conan' on new free to air channel truTV (11pm Monday-Thursday from 4th August) - channel number 68, the home of larger-than-life characters in real situations.

Kim Kardashian: I want to lose 20lbs

Kim Kardashian is determined to lose 20lbs.
The reality TV star took to Twitter to post a picture of herself five years ago in which she sports a leaner figure - and it appears the picture has inspired the 33-year-old beauty to shed some weight.
Kim tweeted: "ughhh I am 20 lbs lighter here! This was just 5 years ago! Ok I'm going back on my grind. I gotta get back here! (sic)"
The photograph shows Kim wearing a tight grey and white cut-out dress, which she matched with a pair of black high heels.
Kim - who has 13-month-old daughter North West with husband Kanye West - was recently said to be on a strawberries only diet.
Last month, it was reported the 'Keeping up with the Kardashians' star was trying out yet another fad diet, which requires her to eat nothing but strawberries for each meal of the day.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "She's giving it a go a few days of the week.
"She has strawberries for breakfast and lunch and strawberry smoothie snacks inbetween."
In addition to only taking part in the diet for a number of days out of each week, she's also allowed to have a cheat meal every now and again and reportedly plans to indulge in alcoholic treats.
