MTV Brand New 2015 shortlist revealed

Saint Raymond, Years and Years and George the Poet are amongst acts on the MTV Brand New 2015 shortlist.
The artists have been picked by MTV as the most promising acts for the next 12 months, with other names on the shortlist including Becky Hill, Krept and Konan, James Bay, Melissa Steel, Nothing But Thieves, Sinead Harnett, and Sunset Sons.
Talking at the launch event at London nightclub DSTRKT on Monday (01.12.14), 19-year-old singer Saint Raymond praised his pal Ed Sheeran for inviting him to open the shows on his 'X Tour', and for the 23-year-old star's invaluable advice which helped him move forward with his career.
He exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "One of his big tips for me while I was on this tour was to go out and meet people after the shows and spend time with fans. I think because the way it is now, people buy into you as a person, not just an artist, so I think it's important that you go out and meet people and really get to know them, so you're not just a musician. That's one big piece of advice Ed gave me."
He also explained the 'Thinking Out Loud' singer said he should write songs all the time, because some of his biggest hits have been tracks he wrote when he thought his album was finished.
Talking of his debut record, he said: "I like to say it's done, but I'm scared of saying that. I think I'm just going to carry on writing just in case, you never know. I remember talking to Ed about it and he said he wrote one of his best songs a week before the album went to the press, so I'm always wary of saying it's done."
Public voting to crown the winner of the MTV Brand New 2015 in association with Emporio Armani Diamonds title is now open. The act with the highest number of votes will be announced on January 30 2015.

Andy Serkis has two Star Wars roles?

Andy Serkis reportedly has two roles in 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens'.
According to website Jedi News, the 50-year-old actor has filmed two parts for the sci-fi blockbuster, one as a motion capture character - the genre which he specialises in - and one traditional live action role.
In his motion capture role, Serkis will lead a "group of unbelievably athletic and acrobatic characters" which also includes actress Crystal Clarke and parkour expert Pip Anderson.
His second part is believed to be smaller but is "pivotal" to the plot and "entwines with Daisy Ridley's back story".
Meanwhile, Serkis has confirmed it is his voice that provides the sinister narration on the 'Star Wars : The Force Awakens' trailer that was released last week.
Despite rampant internet rumours it could be Benedict Cumberbatch speaking, the 'Sherlock' star has come out to state he's not in the film, and now Serkis has revealed it is him talking but would not confirm he is the mysterious character in the hood wielding the red lightsaber.
Speaking to Absolute Radio, Serkis said: "Yeah (it's me), I'm sure Benedict doesn't need any more attention at the moment."
The J.J. Abrams-directed film is scheduled to hit cinemas on December 18 2015.

Jean-Claude Van Damme

Jean-Claude Van Damme is to star in the 'Kickboxer' remake.
The 54-year-old action star appeared in the original 1989 film, appearing as professional fighter Kurt Sloane who learns Muay Thai kickboxing so he can avenge his brother who is left paralysed following a brutal bout with undefeated Thai champion Tong Po.
Tony Jaa was originally set to portray a wise martial arts master who trains Kurt - who will be played by Alain Moussi - but pulled out of the project and now Van Damme has agreed to take on the role.
'Guardians of the Galaxy' actor and part-time WWE wrestler Dave Bautista will play Tong Po, who in the remake actually kills Kurt's brother in their fight.
Speaking about the casting of Van Damme, producer Ted Field said: "We are so excited to have 'Kickboxer' roll into production and to have JCVD in the role of Master Chow, passing the torch to Alain, to have him lead the franchise to a new generation."
John Stockwell is directing the movie and shooting is due to start in New Orleans this week before production moves to Thailand.
The original 'Kickboxer' movie was one of Van Damme's first big screen successes, earning almost $15 million at the US box office after being made on a $1.5 million budget.

Prince Harry’s bodyguards threatened Ralf Little

Britain's Prince Harry's bodyguards once threatened to break Ralf Little's arms.
The 34-year-old actor - who is best known for his roles in 'Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps' and 'The Royle Family' - made the confession as part of the 30-year-old royal's charity Sentebale's Feel No Shame campaign for World Aids Day yesterday (01.12.14).
The incident occurred in May 2011 when the actor and Prince were both watching Barcelona play Manchester United in the Champions League final at a party in London.
Explaining how he was wrestled to the floor after drunkenly launching himself at Harry to "hug him in celebration" when soccer star Wayne Rooney scored an equaliser, Little said: "They [the bodyguards] told me that if I didn't stop moving very quickly they would break both my arms."
Prince Harry himself also confessed a personal secret as part of the campaign - which aims to get people with HIV talking about it in order to educate and raise awareness in an effort to stop the virus spreading.
Revealing he gets "incredibly nervous" before giving speeches, Harry said: "Despite the fact that I laugh and joke all the time, I get incredibly nervous, if not anxious actually, before going into rooms full of people when I'm wearing a suit.
"Now I've confessed that, I'll probably be even more worried that people are looking at me."

Cheryl Fernandez-Versini and Mel B have furious bust up

Cheryl Fernandez-Versini and Mel B reportedly had a furious bust up after the 'X Factor' results show on Sunday (30.11.14).
The 'I Don't Care' hitmaker was heard calling out her fellow judge on the ITV talent show after Mel voted for Cheryl's act Lauren Platt to go home and although Lauren was saved by the public vote, Cheryl is still said to be furious.
A source shared: "Over the years there have been a lot of rumours of spats between the judges.
"Some have been serious, others have been blown out of proportion.
"But what happened between Cheryl and Mel B on Sunday night was real.
"In Cheryl's opinion, Mel completely went back on everything she has been saying all series about Lauren and Stereo Kicks.
"Cheryl was livid hat Mel turned on her act and the fact she called her out in front of millions shows just how angry she was."
However, the former Spice Girls star was said to be "more than capable" of holding her own against Cheryl, leading to further arguments once the cameras stopped rolling.
The source added to The Sun newspaper: "Mel and Cheryl got on really well at the start of the series, but it will take a while before they are back on good terms."
Meanwhile, Louis Walsh was also said to be angry with Simon Cowell after he claimed he felt Lauren had performed better than Louis' eight-piece boy band Stereo Kicks in the sing-off.

Kim Kardashian is ‘honoured’ by US troops

Kim Kardashian was "honoured" to meet the US Marines.
The 34-year-old reality star was delighted to meet the servicemen and women working on the USS San Diego during her trip to Abu Dhabi in November.
Kim marked the occasion on her Instagram account by posting several photos of herself as she toured the naval base.
Alongside a picture of herself and a beaming marine, Kim wrote: "When I was in Abu Dhabi I stopped by the USS San Diego navy ship to meet the troops. Had the best time seeing everyone (sic)"
The self-confessed selfie addict couldn't resist snapping a photograph of herself surrounded by the troops in their uniforms.
In another picture, the beautiful brunette even shared a kiss with one lucky serviceman, which she captioned: "Kisses to the troops! Thank you for all you do! Was an honor to meet you all (sic)"
Kim looked suitably attired in a cropped khaki shirt which she wore over a camel-coloured jumpsuit, although she glammed things up with her bright red lipstick and gold accessories.
The 'Keeping Up With The Kardashians' star was also shown around the plant and given a tour of their helicopters and tanks.
She wrote: "Was very cool getting a tour and seeing the tanks! (sic)"
Before sharing a photograph of herself saluting, which Kim simply captioned: "Thank you (sic)"

Christian Bale loves losers

Christian Bale loves "losers".
The 'American Hustle' actor - who has a nine-year-old daughter and three-month-old son with wife Sibi Blazic - prefers hanging out with people who have "failed miserably" than those who are successful because they are "much more fun".
Asked what his friends are like, he said: "One thing I've heard consistently said to me throughout my life is, 'You know what I've noticed about you, Christian? You hate hanging out with winners. You love losers. The more of a loser, the more you love 'em.'
"I hate the 'loser' title, but I do kind of realise there's something to it. The more successful you get, the more you have to fit into a certain kind of a successful mould.
"Successful people plan their days, and they waste no time whatsoever. It's all about quality, quality all day long. Losers waste their time. People who've failed miserably in their lives are much more fun."
The 40-year-old actor adores his former model wife - who he married in 2000 - but claimed he is "terrified" of her.
He said: "My wife was a stunt driver--she was chasing me through the city in 'Batman'. She was driving one of the cop cars. She can do 180s and stunts and all that. She terrifies me. My wife terrifies me."
And Christian admitted his spouse particularly loved his role in 'American Hustle' - because he had to gain weight.
He told WSJ magazine: "You know, my wife kind of liked Irv in 'American Hustle', because she looked really skinny standing next to me. That's what she said. She loved it. She was like, 'Keep getting bigger. I look fantastic and skinny.' "

Kerry Katona wants booze-fuelled Christmas

Kerry Katona is looking forward to getting drunk at Christmas.
The 34-year-old Atomic Kitten star was pregnant with her fifth child, Dylan-Jorge Rose, for the festive season last year, and admitted it was frustrating not being able to have an alcoholic drink with her husband, George Kay.
She said: "I can't wait. It was winding me up so much last year seeing George and my mum get drunk that I went to bed and left them downstairs.
"I'll be dancing until the early hours and I'll make them go to bed first!"
The 'Whole Again' singer - who has four other children, Molly, 12, Lilly-Sue, 11, Heidi, seven, and Maxwell, six - revealed the couple usually start drinking on Christmas Eve and after a nap, have an early-morning champagne breakfast before her kids wake up.
She explained: "We were up so late last Christmas Eve, we were still wrapping presents at 1am! We woke up and felt like we'd only just gone to bed but we had a blast.
"Santa was drinking vodka while doing all the wrapping! The next day, we get up, get the Christmas music on, crack open the champagne and all the kids open their presents."
Talking about how her Christmas Day will pan out, Kerry - who will embark on a tour with her Atomic Kitten bandmates Liz McClarnon and Natasha Hamilton in 2015 - said she doesn't have her traditional lunch until later in the day after enjoying a boozy breakfast cooked up by her husband, who she married in September.
Speaking to OK! magazine, she added: "We usually get up before the kids, then have champagne, and George makes a fry-up. Then we have dinner about 4pm."

Lily shared an Instagram picture of the trio looking cosy and added the caption: "London girl talk!!! #VSFashionShow #2Days (sic)"

Only The Young backing Fleur to win

Only The Young are backing Fleur East to win 'The X Factor'.
The four-piece pop band left the competition last month and they are backing the singer-and-rapper - who is mentored by Simon Cowell - to be this year's winner because she is a confident and unique artist.
When asked who they think is going to win, Betsey-Blue told BANG Showbiz: "Fleur. I don't think there's been anyone like Fleur who has been on 'The X Factor' before."
Her bandmate Parisa Tarjomani added: "She brings something different, she's got confidence. Not only has she got a good voice but she raps as well, she's really good."
The group - also comprised of Mikey Bromley and Charlie George - were surprised when previous favourite Andrea Faustini found himself in the bottom two recently.
However, they insist no one can take their place on the show for granted because the competition is wide open as it reaches its climax.
Betsey-Blue said: "I think anyone can end up in the bottom two so when Andrea was there he was just unlucky. Anyone can win at this point and anyone can go at this point."
When asked if Andrea needs to diversify his performances in order to win, Mikey - who attended the launch of Bluewater's Winter Wonderland Christmas attraction with his bandmates last week - said: "Andrea is a powerful singer and is great at what he does, I think if he came out and did something else, people might not like that."

Frank Skinner: I begged for Doctor Who role

Frank Skinner thinks Steven Moffat only cast him in 'Doctor Who' to stop him "begging" for a part.
The 57-year-old comedian appeared as engineer Perkins in 'The Mummy on the Orient Express' and joked he was so desperate to appear in the sci-fi series he may as well have camped in the showrunner's garden because he asked him for a part in the programme on so many occasions.
He exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "Even as a kid I loved the show but I wouldn't have even thought of it as being a possibility.
"I have more or less begged for a part in it for some time. It was almost like I was camping in Steven Montfort's garden, as he put it. I think it was partly to shut me up but it worked."
While the series eight episode aired in mid-October, Frank still cannot stop acting like a "grinning fool" when people ask him about his part in the programme.
He added: "I wouldn't say I starred in 'Doctor Who'. But I was up there in the listings. That was just awesome.
"It is hard to describe it because negative things are more interesting in conversation than the positive things.
"I can only talk about it like a grinning fool really. On set I was like a competition winner. But I did worry about whether I could pull it off and stuff but I think it was alright."
Frank's latest comedy DVD, 'Frank Skinner - Man in a Suit' is out now on Blu-ray and DVD and also available on digital download.

Eddie ‘The Eagle’ Edwards movie in the works

A movie about Eddie 'The Eagle' Edwards is in the works.
Eddie the Eagle - whose real name is Michael Edwards - became a British hero despite finishing last in both the 70 metre and 90 metre ski jumps at the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary, Canada and will now become the focus of a film.
A source said: "Eddie is a national institution and his story would make a great Hollywood tale."
Although it is unclear so far who will take on the role of the failed Olympian, 'Kick-Ass' director Matthew Vaughn and his Marv Films production company are said to be behind the upcoming project.
The source continued to The Sun newspaper: "The film will be a 'Cool Runnings'-style underdog story, with a lot of comedy. But with Matthew at the helm, it will also include a lot of action and special effects."
'Hitchcock' screenwriter Sean Macaulay was eager for the film to be made in 2009 and had eyed 'Harry Potter' star Rupert Grint to play Eddie, however, similarly to the athlete's failures on the slope, the project never got off the ground.
The announcement that Vaughn is to direct is expected to take place in the coming weeks, along with casting news.
