Annie Lennox questions Madonna’s motivation

Annie Lennox has questioned Madonna's motivation for posing topless in Interview magazine.
The provocative photo of the 56-year-old Queen of Pop was released today (02.12.14) and although Annie has no issue with women wanting to show off their bodies she isn't sure about what point Madonna is trying to make with the shoot other than to shock.
Appearing on 'Loose Women', she said: "I did get things off occasionally but not to that extent. I don't think it's down to me (to judge Madonna) ... I think already the verdict is probably out, would you not agree on that one? I think the question is, 'What is Madonna telling us?' Anybody know?"
'Loose Women' panellist Janet Street Porter interjected, saying: "I think it's attention seeking."
To which Annie replied: "I think it is."
Annie also spoke about her impending 60th birthday - which is on Christmas Day (25.12.14) - and rather than try and hide her age, the 'Why' hitmaker is proud to be approaching the milestone age.
The former Eurythmics star said: "Yes I made it, into the sixth decade! Some people don't like to say their age, I'm almost 60 and I'm proud to say that. Although I shouldn't have said that, I should have said 'I'm grateful', because I'm healthy and when you get to this stage in life, every day is a health miracle."
Annie has previously been outspoken about modern pop stars who rely on their sexuality to sell their music, describing their behaviour as "self-molestation" and a "devaluation of women".

Kit Harington struggles with relationships

Kit Harington finds relationships difficult.
The 'Game of Thrones' star - who has previously been romantically linked to Rose Leslie who plays Ygritte in the HBO series - revealed he is currently single and finds it challenging sustaining a healthy relationship as an actor.
He said: "I'll never talk about any particular relationship I've been in. But I will say I'm single at the moment."
Kit - who plays Jon Snow in the fantasy drama - explained the nature of working in the television and film industry means he is away from his London home for much of the year which means it would be tough to keep a fledgling relationship alive.
The 27-year-old hunk elaborated: "Relationships as an actor are incredibly difficult. With someone who's not an actor, because they never get to see you; and with someone who is an actor, because you're ships in the night a lot of the time."
The 'Pompeii' actor went on to say he would have to sacrifice either his relationship or his career if he was trying to juggle both, because it would not be possible to balance the two unless his suitor wanted to follow him wherever he went.
He added: "I mean, ideally, if you keep acting in the film world, you're a travelling salesman. And your options are: sacrifice a lot of your career, to make sure it's not unfair on the other person, or find someone who is willing to be your travelling circus. That's where I stand, and I'm trying to address it at the moment."
Despite his struggle to maintain a healthy love-life, Kit admitted he is content with his life and is not necessarily searching for a potential partner.
Speaking in the January issue of British GQ magazine, he added: "I'm happy. I'm in a comfortable place. But I have to actively remember to recognise that a lot of the time."

Cameron Diaz: Timing is secret to romantic happiness

Cameron Diaz says "timing" is the secret to having a happy relationship.
The 42-year-old actress says for a man and woman to be compatible they both need to want the same thing at the same time otherwise your romance is heading for the rocks.
Cameron told the new US issue of Cosmopolitan magazine: "You have to find someone in the same place as you are. Timing is everything. If you get into a relationship where you want something the guy doesn't want, it's never going to work. You're never going to get him to be in that place. No matter how old you are, finding the guy who's in the same place as you are and wants to show up is the only way a relationship works, period."
The 'Sex Tape' star - who refused to confirm or deny she is engaged to current boyfriend Benji Madden in the interview - has previously been in relationships with Justin Timberlake, Matt Dillon and Jared Leto.
And Cameron admits she has learnt one major lesson from all her failed romances - don't keep making the same mistake when picking a man.
She said: "Here's the thing. You make the same mistake over and over again until you learn your lesson. We girls sometimes do the thing where we pick the same person over and over again - they look and seem different, but deep down, they're the same. And that's on us."

Kanye West ‘controls’ Kim Kardashian West to ‘protect’ her

Kanye West "controls" Kim Kardashian West to "protect" her.
The 'bound 2' hitmaker "constantly worries" about his wife and their 17-month-old daughter North so does everything he can to keep them safe, says his step-brother, Hal Carmichael.
In an interview with new issue of heat magazine, Hal said: "Kanye constantly worries about Kim and North because he knows the kidnap risk is high.
"Because of the lifestyle they lead, he has to think about it carefully nowadays.
"Kanye controls Kim, like where she travels and what she does, to protect her. He thinks the more the public see of them, the more at risk they are."
Kanye knows Kim's job requires her to be in the public eye, but he tries to limit the people around them in a bid to keep them extra safe.
Hal added: "Kanye and Kim want to be the next big power couple and that comes from exposure.
"Kim being on television is a compromise, but Kanye knows that's her career and he'll support her.
"Kanye keeps his inner circle tight - with North she'll only be looked after by her grandmother Kris [Jenner] or her aunties.
"They have a nanny as well, but North is kept around family. Kanye does this to protect her."
And even when they visit their relatives, the couple are still accompanied by two security guards.
Hal - whose mother Cheryl married Kanye's dad Ray in 1997 - said: "They always have two security guards with them. Even when he went to our sister's last month, he took them with him and they drive around in armoured cars."

Jimmy Bullard: Me and Jake are friends

Jimmy Bullard is adamant he was being "tongue in cheek" when he ridiculed Jake Quickenden on 'I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!'.
The retired footballer became the first star to be evicted from the jungle reality show in scenes shown last night (02.12.14) in a shock voting result.
It is thought Jimmy's popularity with the public nosedived after he called former 'X Factor' star Jake a "lanky piece of s**t" and questioned his celebrity credentials during a heated camp conversation.
The 36-year-old sportsman appreciates it looked bad on TV but insists it was all just "banter" and he's sure his "great friend" Jake will set the record straight when he comes out of the jungle.
During an interview on 'Good Morning Britain', he said: "It was totally tongue in cheek, the way that came across on TV was totally not how it was in camp but saying that, I can be a bit of a nightmare and the best one to ask is Jake about this ... We're great friends, we are going to be for a long time, it's total banter ... He gave as good as he took as well!"
Jimmy insists he loved every minute of his time in the jungle and is pleased he became close friends with Jake and Carl Fogarty - who broke down in tears when his pal left.
Jimmy said: "What an experience, I'm so glad I came and did this. It was mad, a great bunch I was in camp with, that's what you wish for when you go in ... I loved everything about it."
Speaking about Carl's reaction to his eviction, Jimmy added: "I nearly went myself, when he went and broke down and I was like, 'Fog don't do this to me on TV!' I just totally went ... He's a great friend, I think I've got two friends there for life definitely and even the other seven, I was very close to them all and I couldn't have wished for a better bunch."

Gillian Anderson turns bartender for AIDS fundraiser

Gillian Anderson tried her hand at being a bartender while raising money for World AIDS Day last night (01.12.14).
The 'Fall' actress - who plays police detective Stella Gibson in the drama series - swapped solving crimes for dishing out cocktails to guests and making videos with fans in a gif photobooth at the W London & (RED) World AIDS Day Fundraising Party at the Wyld bar in central London.
A source told BANG Showbiz: "Gillian got right into the spirit of things. She looked to be in her element behind the bar serving cocktails and beers to guests.
"She also couldn't stop laughing as she posed for pictures with guests at the gif photobooth."
Gillian was seen serving W London's special Glitte(RED) cocktail, which is available throughout December and all proceeds go to the cause.
The 46-year-old star charged fans a minimum of £5 for charity to have a comical gif created with her and despite pulling funny faces throughout, she still managed to look looked stunning in a low-cut black top and tight-fitting black pencil skirt.
Gillian made a name for herself as FBI special agent Dana Scully in sci-fi thriller series 'The X-Files' - which ran from 1993 to 2002 - but she admitted the fundraising event was worlds apart from the set of the long-running programme.
She said: "It's a bit different to being on 'The X-Files' bit we did have a set that looked a bit like this once."
Several other stars also appeared at the event including singer Natalie Imbruglia, actor Jamie Campbell Bower and actress Jaime Winstone, who performed a DJ set at the bash.

Kendra Wilkinson’s dirty panties attract flies

Kendra Wilkinson's dirty underwear is attracting flies to the 'I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!' camp.
The former Playboy model has not been motivated to do her laundry for the last few days and her fellow campmate Jake Quickenden believes her filthy clothes and panties are the reason there has been an invasion of the flying insects.
Melanie Sykes cut herself and as she was resting she moaned she had countless flies swarming around her wound.
Her complaints prompted Jake to angrily tell Kendra: "The flies are getting worse around here and it's because you haven't washed your undies for three days."
But Kendra took his comments in her stride, replying: "Yeah. Old stinky knickers, that's me."
Meanwhile, Melanie had to down a shot of blended bulls' penis and bulls' testicles for the latest trial Vile Vineyard.
The TV presenter and the rest of the Wombats team, including Carl Fogarty, Tinchy Stryder and Jimmy Bullard - who became the first person to be evicted from the jungle - had to down various vile concoctions to win stars for meals.
The group eventually got 10 stars after consuming different drinks made of deers' blood, blended lamb brains, liquidised pigs' anuses, blended beach worms and witchetty grubs.

Phillip Schofield completes 24-hour Text Santa TV marathon

Phillip Schofield has completed his 24-hour TV marathon for 'Text Santa'.
The 52-year-old star's epic presenting stint ended on 'This Morning' at 11am today (02.12.14) and he was joined by his wife Steph - who also stayed awake for the entire duration - his co-host Amanda Holden and Gok Wan as the final minutes were counted down.
Phillip even got a surprise call from his mother Pat live on air congratulating him on the feat.
An excited Phillip said, "It's my mum! Did you enjoy it?"
His mum replied: "Hello darling, you didn't think you'd be getting away with me did you? It was absolutely fantastic! I watched 19 hours!"
Just before the clock turned 11am Phillip left the ITV studio hand-in-hand with wife Steph to huge cheers.
During his 24-hour television stint, the silver-haired presenter abseiled down the ITV Tower, interviewed Prime Minister David Cameron, presented the weather, appeared on 'Loose Women' and read out the continuity on ITV.
As 'This Morning' kicked off today, Phillip thanked all the viewers for staying with him and for their donations to 'Text Santa'.
He said: "If you donated, if you supported, if you stayed up with me then I can't thank you enough, it's been amazing ... It's a lovely achievement and I just want to say right now, because I might got get the chance to say this later on in all the madness, but the team for ITV3 - for the entire ITV team - in here and in every studio and every area that we accessed and every place that we went to ... every camera shot, every sound, every cable, thank you very, very much."
The 'Text Santa' TV special will air at 8pm on December 19 and the six charities being supported by the appeal are the Teenage Cancer Trust, Guide Dogs, WellChild, Marie Curie Cancer Care, Alzheimer's Society and Together for Short Lives.

The Carnabys: Debbie Harry was a ‘babe’ on tour

The Carnabys thought Debbie Harry was a "babe" when they toured with her.
The British rockers - made up of Jack Mercer, Ben Gittins, Frankie Connolly, Mike Delizo and James Morgan - loved hanging out with the Blondie frontwoman off-stage, while supporting the legendary group on five occasions, and joked they enjoyed getting affectionate with the 69-year-old singer.
Speaking exclusively to BANG Showbiz, frontman Jack said: "Debbie Harry was so nice, she was so funny. She was such a babe."
Frankie then quipped: "Yeah! She's still got it, for a 69 year old. Well, it's not a secret. She kept trying to kiss me."
But Ben put the record straight, adding: "The first time we met her, we were all like, 'She's such a big deal.' We were all waiting for the handshake. And then Frankie comes out of nowhere, and is all kiss kiss and she looked quite flustered.
"We didn't know how she was going to take it, but it was great, and we got to know her really well."
The Carnabys also admitted the star was incredibly helpful as she gifted lead singer Jack with throat spray and special tea to help his vocal chords when he was struck down with voice problems on tour in Italy.
He added: "I woke up the day of the gig in Milan, and my voice had completely gone. I couldn't even speak. I was trying to warm up in the shower and stuff, use steam and all that.
"I remember going to bed that night and having a bowl of water there to just try and get moisture into the room.
"I got to the gig and I said, 'Debbie, you've been doing this a lot longer than I have, have you got any tips?' She pulled out this drawer, and she's got hundreds of boxes of this special tea.
"She gives me two of them, and a jar of honey, and then she opens this case which is just full of hundreds of canisters of throat sprays, and gives me one of them.
"You spray it and breathe in at the same time but also if you spray it up your nose and it opens up your vocal cords. She was great."
The Carnabys' debut album 'No Money on The Moon' is out now through Hard Rock Records.

Bruce Springsteen and Chris Martin replace Bono at World AIDS Day concert

Bruce Springsteen and Chris Martin replaced Bono at a World AIDS Day (RED) Concert on Monday (01.12.14) in New York's Time Square.
U2's lead singer was unable to attend the event as he's still recovering from a recent cycling accident, but Bruce, 65, and Chris, 37, were happy to fill the void by performing some of the band's tunes alongside the other members of the group, Adam Clayton, Larry Mullen Jr. and The Edge.
Bono underlined the importance of the event - which also featured performances from hip-hop superstar Kanye West and Carrie Underwood - explaining: "This year is a World Aids Day like no other. Today, 13 million people have access to life-saving treatment, up from 300,000 just over 10 years ago. Americans don't know the role they've played in this fight. Tonight's event is to inform them and thank them."
The 54-year-old rock star injured himself when he tried to avoid another cyclist in New York's Central Park.
Bono needed to have three metal plates and 18 screws to help heal injuries suffered to his upper arm, which was shattered in six places.
However, he is expected to make a full recovery following intensive therapy.

Will Ferrell signs up to Shakespeare comedy

Will Ferrell is set to star in a new comedy based on life in the Shakespeare theatre.
The 47-year-old actor has reportedly signed up to the film after it was bought by Sony, specifically with the 'Anchorman' actor in mind.
According to Variety.com, the film will follow Will's character as he navigates the "intense" and "competitive" world of the theatre company.
The premise of the movie - which is as yet untitled - was developed by Mosaic before being sold to the production company while 'Dinner for Schmucks' writers David Guion and Michael Handelman are on board to write the script.
The pair have previously worked with Will on the 2007 film 'Blades of Glory'.
Will has a long history with Sony, having worked with them on the hit films, 'Step Brothers' and 'Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby'.
If the proposed movie goes ahead as planned, the comic actor will have a busy schedule next year.
Will recently confirmed his plans to star in 'Zoolander 2', the follow-up to the hugely successful 2001 film, which starred Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson.
He's also currently filming scenes for the old Hollywood film 'Zeroville' and comedy 'Daddy's Home', both of which are due out in 2015.

Sir Ian McKellen: it’s not the end for The Hobbit

Sir Ian McKellen doesn't believe the final 'Hobbit' film is "the end of the journey".
The 75-year-old actor has suggested that there could be another movie based on the fictional Middle-earth, which was created by J.R.R. Tolkien.
Sir Ian - who has played Gandalf in both the 'Lord of the Rings' trilogy and the three 'Hobbit' films - noted that the movies' director Peter Jackson originally thought the process would be finished over a decade ago.
Speaking at the premiere of 'The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies' in London last night (01.12.14), he shared: "I was told by Peter, in 2001, that that was the end, that it was all over.
"Here we are 13 years later. So I don't believe necessarily this is the end of the journey."
When asked why he thinks the franchise has been so popular with fans across the globe, the veteran actor explained how the films
strike a moral chore with people.
He told the BBC: "Maybe [the movies] endure because they're not about evil just for evil's sake, they're not about frightening and exciting things just to thrill the audience.
"They're actually about something important. They're about what it takes to be a good person, really."
