Britain's Prince Charles is "deeply distressed" by the violence against Christians in the Middle East.
The first-in-line to the British throne has shown his support to the those facing persecution over their religion in Iraq during a meeting with members of the Iraqi Chaldean Christian Community in West Acton, London yesterday (09.12.14).
The 66-year-old royal said: "As Christmas approaches my heart goes out to all Christians being persecuted on behalf of their faith.
"I have been deeply distressed by the horrific scenes of violence and persecution coming out of your beloved Iraq.
"I know that many of those who have been killed or forced to flee are members of your own families.
"The pain and grief must be quite unimaginable as you see them persecuted because of their faith."
He then pleaded with the public to feel honour-bound to protect those who are victims of terror.
His Royal Highness said: "We hear much at present about the 'duty of care'. Then, ladies and gentlemen, I am bound to ask whether there is not a duty of care towards the victims of violence and their families who, like you, are daily distraught by the graphic transmission of violent images of their loved ones."
The Prince then met with those who have first hand experience of the persecution of Christians in the Middle East.

Talking on the 'Rachael Ray Show' yesterday (09.12.14) the CNN host said: "You do not put your arm around the future Queen of England!
"You do not touch a member of the royal family unless they ask you to touch them or extend their hand."
In a direct message to LeBron - who has been dubbed King James due to his sporting prowess - Piers said: "LeBron James, you may call yourself King James - you are not a real king.
"Prince William is going to be my King, that was his wife - hands off the Duchess.
"Do not touch the royals! They are immortal creatures. If they extend a hand, you gently touch it and say, 'Hello.' You do not put your sweaty arm, after a game of basketball, around a member of the royal family."
Despite Piers' outrage, an insider told Us magazine that the couple were not offended by the sportsman's friendliness.

Britain's Prince William has urged a New York performer to "get in touch" after revealing he was moved to "tears" by his show.
The 32-year-old royal was in awe of a theatre troupe who work with the charity The Door and The CityKids Foundation, which helps troubled children reform their lives.
After watching a performance of 'Brooklyn Boy' last night (09.12.14) the Prince was particularly taken with the lead actor - former gangster - Steven Prescod.
The Duke of Cambridge told the 22-year-old star: "We want more. That was amazing. Please get in touch.
"We should get you on in the West End. All I can say is, it was really impressive. It nearly had me in tears."
Recalling the incident to the Daily Express newspaper, Steven explained how the future monarch had described the play as more engaging than the Cleveland Cavaliers v Brooklyn Nets game he'd watch with his wife, the Duchess of Cambridge the night before (08.12.14).
He shared: "He told me that he really wanted to help me put the show on. He said he's been the Barclays Center last night to watch the basketball but he'd pay to see this a million times.
"It's all about my own life. I didn't really learn about writing. I didn't have to learn about developing characters because I used my own experiences."

Fleur East struggled with depression earlier this year.
The 27-year-old singer has confessed to going through a dark period in her life, prior to finding fame on the latest series of 'The X Factor', when she feared she would never sing again.
The brunette beauty - who will compete in this weekend's final alongside Ben Haenow and Andrea Faustini - became depressed as she struggled to land gigs and resigned to sitting at home in her pyjamas.
She said: "The beginning of this year was my lowest point. I was waking up at whatever time and watching repeats of 'Friends' in my pyjamas all day, every day.
"There was nothing in my diary - no gigs, nothing going on. I was like, 'What am I going to do with my life?' I was so scared. I knew if I got a normal job, I would never sing again.
"There was no motivation in me - there wasn't even any drive to get up in the morning because what's the point? I was definitely depressed. Looking back, I'm like, 'Who was that?'"
However, Fleur soon got back on her feet after her friends and family encouraged her to audition for the ITV singing competition.
She said: "I got up, got in the gym and I had something to work towards."

The 49-year-old dancer is a judge on rival show 'Strictly Come Dancing' and insists that while the BBC One celebrity dance contest is as popular as ever, the ITV talent show has passed its peak.
Claiming Strictly had yet again had a "fabulous year", he said: "As for our rivals...to be honest, The X Factor's had its day."
Craig claims the show's judges - Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh, Cheryl Fernandez-Versini and Mel B - are too busy bickering with one another to find real talent.
He continued: "It's too much about the judges now."
The outspoken critic went on to slam the show for allowing Italian contestant Andrea Faustini to make it to this weekend's final.
Writing in his column for Woman magazine, he added: "There aren't any contestants you want to champion and there's no one left in Britain with the X Factor - that's why they've had to go to Italy."
