Countess of Wessex promotes chef to personal dresser

Britain's Sophie, Countess of Wessex has promoted her chef to be her personal dresser.
The 49-year-old royal - who is set to celebrate her 50th birthday tomorrow (20.01.15) - has reportedly appointed David Quick to help choose her outfits, lay out her clothes and even wash her underwear following the departure of veteran valet Brian Tougher.
An insider revealed: "To say everyone is surprised is an understatement but good luck to him.
"It's true Brian did help her with her clothes but he had an eye for outfits because he is a keen ballroom dancer and had lots of female dance partners.
"David is very much a bloke's bloke and has never done anything in this field before. We never thought of him as a fashion expert but he obviously has hidden talents.
"As well as pressing her clothes and laying them out, he will be called upon to be in the room when the countess is getting dressed for a special occasion and might even zip up her dress at the back and help her on with her jewellery."
Although David will now assist Sophie - who has children Lady Louise Windsor and son James, Viscount Severn with husband Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex - with her fashion choices he will still be in charge of catering at their royal residence, Bagshot Park.
The source told the Daily Express newspaper: "It will certainly make a change from being in the kitchens, although he has retained overall responsibility for the catering."
However, the royal couple have brought in a junior chef and an Army orderly to help with other duties at the 50-room mansion in Surrey.
The source added: "Brian used to do everything from being butler to arranging flowers and they have been lost without him. That's why they've needed reinforcements to take on his work."

Run-DMC call for peace at show

Run-DMC called for peace at their London show on Sunday (18.01.15).
The hip hop heavyweights paid tribute to their late bandmate Jason 'Jam Master Jay' Mizell - who was murdered in New York in 2002 - while on stage at London's Scala, by expressing their wish for the end of violence in music and urging crowd members to make peace signs to remember the star.
Joseph 'Rev Run' Simmons, 50, told fans: "Several years ago my DJ was killed by violence. We need to stop the violence in hip hop. This is for Jam Master Jay, our former soldier."
Following the emotional speech a scratch tribute to the musician was played, with the 300-strong crowd at the intimate gig chanting "JMJ, RIP."
Hosted by BBC Radio 1Xtra DJ Charlie Sloth, the show - which took place to celebrate Vodafone's 30th anniversary of the first UK mobile phone call - was the group's first in the UK for over a decade, with Joseph and bandmate Darryl 'DMC' McDaniels performing a flurry of their well-know hits including 'It's Tricky', 'King of Rock' and 'It's Like That'.
The one-off show - at which they were supported by upcoming musician and 'Game of Thrones' actor Raleigh Ritchie - ended with the group's most famous single, 'Walk This Way', with Joseph dropping his microphone to the floor as they walked off stage.

Julie Hesmondhalgh excited by Corrie mentions

Julie Hesmondhalgh still gets excited when her former 'Coronation Street' character is mentioned on the show.
The 44-year-old actress played transsexual Hayley Cropper on the series for 15 years before she left in 2014.
Despite being gone for over a year, Julie still hasn't been able to fully let go of her character and is always thrilled when Hayley's name is uttered by her widower Roy Cropper (David Neilson) or anyone else in Weatherfield.
She said: "The show was such a big part of my life. I don't think I've quite processed my departure. I still watch the soap when I can and I get a real kick every time my name is mentioned on the show as it keeps Hayley alive; it means she' still going strong."
Hayley - who was the first transgender character to be featured in a British soap opera - was killed off last January in an emotional emotional pancreatic cancer storyline which dealt with the moral issues of euthanasia.
Julie was stunned by the reaction her final storyline prompted among viewers and she felt it was an incredible end to time on 'Coronation Street'.
Speaking to You magazine, she said: "I was so upset when I watched the episode when Roy spreads Hayley's ashes in Blackpool; I was in bits. All the same, the time was right for me to go and the work I did on 'Coronation Street' has paved the way for me to do other amazing things."
Julie can next be seen in new Channel 4 drama 'Cucumber', which has been written by former 'Doctor Who' showrunner Russell T. Davies.

Russell T. Davies wants to create Doctor Who film

Russell T. Davies wants to write a 'Doctor Who' movie.
The 51-year-old scriptwriter was responsible for reviving the sci-fi show in 2005 but stepped down as executive producer in 2010, handing control to Steven Moffat.
Although he has refused multiple requests by Steven to write a new TV episode, Russell thinks a spin-off film would be "glorious" and he would love to be involved if it happened.
Asked if he thinks there should be a 'Doctor Who' movie, he said: "Yes, I think it should be in cinemas immediately, it would be glorious. Imagine queuing up for the cinema for a 'Doctor Who' film, I would be there with a sleeping bag.
"Would I write it? Yes please, if we could get the lawyers and the contracts. I would do that because I think there's a big leap to be made."
Russell expects his movie comments will probably spark widespread panic with 'Doctor Who' bosses.
In an interview with Graham Norton on his BBC Radio 2 show, he added: "I can hear the 'Doctor Who' office with their heads in their hands going, 'Shut up Davies!' I just realised where I am, broadcasting to the nation, they'll kill me for that."
The 'Cucumber' creator recently revealed he still watches the programme "absolutely religiously" and thinks Peter Capaldi is "glorious" in the role of the Doctor, but he is too busy with his own new projects to return in any capacity.
Quizzed on whether he'd ever write another episode, he said: "Wouldn't that be nice? The lovely Steven invites me every year to come and write one. And I love him and I love them and I love watching it, but here I am, moving on. I love 'Doctor Who' with all my heart but nothing is more important to me than my own stuff."

Johnny Depp’s 20 moustaches

Johnny Depp's 'Mortdecai' moustache was such a "huge part" of the film, he had 20 of them.
The 51-year-old actor worked hard with make-up artist Joel Harlow to craft the perfect facial hair for his character, art dealer aristocrat Charlie Mortdecai.
Joel said: "The moustache plays a huge part in the film, it's almost a separate character
"On screen it's a great source of pride to Mortdecai, and angst with his wife (Gwyneth Paltrow). And Johnny works it in the movie. He knows what a mustache can do and how to use it."
Joel first visited Johnny in August 2014 and the actor drew his vision for the two-toned 'tache on a napkin before his make-up artist crafted 30 styles in different colours and lengths from real hair and the pair whittled them down to the 20 versions used in the film, both for the 'Rum Diary' star and his stunt doubles.
Joel told USA Today newspaper: "You don't want it to be overpowering on the face. For Mortdecai, he wanted it simple and elegant.
"I'd groom it the night before and fix the curl. And basically we'd apply it in the morning. We'd complete the look by painting a split in Johnny's teeth and then it was off to the races."
Now the movie is finished, Johnny - who had his moustache replaced every three days - is working on regrowing his own facial hair for his role of Captain Jack Sparrow in 'Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales'.
Joel said: "Captain Jack needs his moustache. And it's coming in nicely."

Kelly Osbourne in ski row

Kelly Osbourne has threatened to "b***h slap" a woman who knocked her over on the ski slopes.
The 'Fashion Police' host was left nursing a swollen and bruised right hand following the tumble yesterday (18.01.15) and wasn't impressed that her fellow skiier didn't stop to see if she was OK afterwards.
Posting a picture of her hands on Instagram, she blasted: "To the b***h on the slopes that took me down today laughed in my face & did not even stop to see if I was ok! I'm left landed so there is a #B***hSlap coming your way let's hope #karma meets you first! (sic)"
Despite her discomfort, Kelly - who is on vacation with her parents Ozzy and Sharon, brother Jack, his wife Lisa and their two-year-old daughter Pearl - soon cheered up after spending time with her niece.
Posting another picture of herself hugging Pearl, she wrote: "There is no better feeling than a hug from my #perfect niece Pearl! She is the definition of happiness! (sic)"
The 30-year-old star hasn't had the best luck with her health recently as just last week she had to cancel her plans after being stricken by flu.
She tweeted: "Has anyone else had this awful flu that is going around if so how long does it last? no 1 wants to come near me incase they get it! #Ashuuu (sic)"

James Franco wants Lana Del Rey movie

James Franco wants to make a movie with Lana Del Rey.
The 'This Is The End' actor has penned an essay about his love for the 'Born to Die' singer - who he says "isn't made for the Earth" - and revealed they have discussed collaborating on a cinematic project.
He wrote for V magazine: "She has this idea for a film. I want to do it because it's a little like Sunset Boulevard. A woman is alone in a big house in L.A. She doesn't want to go out. She starts to go crazy, and becomes paranoid because she feels like people are watching her. Even in her own house. It's like an awesome B-movie that lives in Lana's head. It's about her, and it's not about her. Just like her music."
However, it is unclear whether the project will happen as the 36-year-old hunk admitted he has had a hard time even getting the 29-year-old singer to sit down and talk to him.
He added: "I wanted to interview Lana for a book and she said, 'Just write around me, it's better if it's not my own words. It's almost better if you don't get me exactly, but try.' "
James has previously spoken of how "enamoured" he is with the singer.
He said recently: "There's a weird thing with creative types. Sometimes I love a person's work and, like, I'm just so enamoured with that and their persona in their work. But outside of that, it's like, our dynamic is we're just kind of friends, we get along so well. But all this sexual attraction is for the person and the work."

Matt Healy dismisses Taylor Swift romance

Matt Healy has admitted he "exchanged numbers" with Taylor Swift.
The 1975 rocker has been romantically linked with the 'Shake It Off' superstar over the last few months but he insists they have never done more than speak "occasionally".
Discussing the speculation, he told Angus O'Loughlin and Ash London from Shazam Top 20 on 2DayFM: "It's fake. It's all bloody fake. It's a farce!
"Yeah, we met each other, we exchanged numbers in the same way that a lot of people in this kind of world do and we spoke occasionally.
"And she's the biggest pop star in the world and I'm in Australia. There's no like, relationship or anything happening. It's just funny how people really, really buy into that."
Matt and Taylor were first romantically linked in November, when the British musician wore one of the US star's '1989' album T-shirts on stage and she returned the favour by sporting a 1975 tour top.
Soon afterwards, the 'Blank Space' singer posted a video of herself and friend Selena Gomez at one of Matt's gigs and captioned the clip with a flirty line from the group's song 'The City'.
It read: "Yeah you wanna find love? Then you know where the city is."

Coronation Street bosses to recast role of Bethany Platt

'Coronation Street' are to recast the role of Bethany Platt after deciding to axe actress Katie Redford from the role.
Katie had been chosen to portray the returning character but following the revelation she is 25 and not 19 bosses have fired her from the soap for being too old to play the teenager.
A spokesperson for the programme said: "'Coronation Street' has taken the decision to recast the part of Bethany Platt."
Katie had only been announced as the new Bethany by ITV last week and had not shot any scenes on the cobbles yet.
After she was described as 19, many examples of proof of her real age were posted on the internet, with one online CV stating her date of birth as March 2, 1989. Katie's Twitter username had previously been 'katieredford89' before being changed to her current handle 'Katieredfordtlc'.
The search for a new Bethany will start straight away as the 14-year-old character and her mother Sarah-Louise Platt are due for a major storyline on their return in the spring.
It is believed that bosses already have another actress in mind for the part.
Before her departure in 2007, Bethany had been played by three different child actresses - Mia Cookson, Amy Walton and her sister Emily Walton.
Tina O'Brien is returning as Sarah-Louise after seven years away from Weatherfield and she cannot wait to rejoin her soap family.
She previously said: "I am delighted to be returning. Sarah has a lot of history and unfinished business on the street and I'm looking forward to finding out what she's been up to and why she's returned home."
