Billy Crystal thinks gay sex on TV ‘has gone too far’

Billy Crystal thinks graphic scenes of gay sex on TV have gone too far.
The 66-year-old star became one of network television's first gay characters on the comedy 'Soap' in the 1970s, but feels modern-day shows are guilty of "pushing it a little too far".
According to The Wrap, he said: "Sometimes, it's just pushing it a little too far for my taste and I'm not going to reveal to you which ones they are.
"I hope people don't abuse it and shove it in our face ... to the point where it feels like an every day kind of thing."
Billy admitted he encountered lots of cynics when he starred as Jodie Dallas on the ABC sitcom.
He recalled: "It was very difficult at the time - Jodie was really the first recurring [gay] character on network television and it was a different time, it was 1977.
"So, yeah, it was awkward. It was tough."
"I did it in front of a live audience and there were times when I would say to Bob, 'I love you,' and the audience would laugh nervously.
"I wanted to stop the taping and go, 'What is your problem?'"

Coronation Street star Anne Kirkbride dies aged 60

Coronation Street's Anne Kirkbride has died aged 60 after a short illness.
The actress, who joined the ITV soap in 1972 and played the part of Deirdre Barlow, passed away peacefully in a Manchester hospital, the broadcaster has confirmed.
David Beckett, her husband, and the cast and crew of the show were said to be "heartbroken and deeply saddened" by the news.
Kieran Roberts, the executive producer of 'Coronation Street', said: "We feel blessed and honoured to have known her.
"There are no words to describe the sense of grief we feel at Anne's passing. We know only too acutely how much Anne meant to the millions of people who watched her create the legendary character of Deirdre Barlow.
"She will be greatly missed by the Coronation Street team who share happy memories of working with her. Our thoughts are with David and their family."
Meanwhile, Peter Fincham, ITV director of television, said: "Anne has been a truly loyal servant to Coronation Street since joining the programme in the early 1970s.
"She created a unique and unforgettable character in Deirdre Barlow and she'll be greatly missed on and off screen.
"Our sincerest condolences to Anne's husband David and her family at this very sad time."
William Roache, who played her on-screen husband Ken Barlow, said: "I feel Anne's loss so personally having worked closely with her for over 40 years. She was such a loving and vibrant person. You always knew she was there because her laugh was never far away.
"She was an impeccable performer with superb comedy timing and an immense gift for really heightened drama. We had some rows over the years as Ken and Deirdre and it was wonderful to play those scenes opposite her.
"Coronation Street has lost one of its iconic characters and Anne will be greatly missed."

Kris Jenner ‘urges Bruce to end sex change speculation’

Kris Jenner wants her ex-husband Bruce Jenner to deny claims he is to undergo a sex change.
The 59-year-old reality TV personality recently ended her 23-year marriage to Bruce, 65, but remains keen to see him deny rumours of a sex change, which have been increased since he was seen sporting nail polish and growing out his hair.
A source revealed: "Kris has been pressuring Bruce to issue a statement about ongoing sex change rumours, and she wants it to be a very strong denial.
"She believes that putting out a statement would stop these ongoing rumours, and doesn't understand why Bruce won't do it."
Last week, InTouch magazine's front cover showed an edited picture of the former Olympian wearing lipstick, blusher, and a silk scarf.
But while Kris - who has two children with Bruce, Kendall, 19, and Kylie, 17 - is eager to end the speculation, her former husband is apparently unwilling to speak to the press.
The source told Radar Online: "Whenever the subject comes up, Bruce just shuts her down. This is extremely sensitive for Bruce, and it's his choice not to address it."

Oritsé Williams kept quiet about comeback plans

Oritsé Williams didn't tell his friends or his mother about his return to the music industry.
The 28-year-old singer, who starred in boyband JLS from 2006 until 2013, released his first single as a solo artist, 'Waterline', last year, and revealed he's kept those closest to him in the dark about his career plans.
Oritsé - who is now professionally known as OWS - explained: "Even my mum didn't know. She said to me, 'Son, I know you're doing something. Whatever you're doing, keep doing it.' And that was all she said to me.
"It was tough at Christmas because everyone was asking what I was doing and I was telling them that next year I'm going to show them what I'm doing. I'm telling everyone to wait and that I'm taking my time."
Oritsé revealed his delight at the early reaction to his solo work, and his relief at being able to put his face to his tunes.
He told heatworld: "It's a mad feeling. I've been crafting and I've been working away for over a year and enjoying myself but when you're able to bring your creativity to the surface and to the people, finally, and to put your face to it, it's a great feeling.
"However, it's not the fame that drives me. What I'm driven by is being recognised for doing something that I believe in. The fact that I've had such a positive reaction, I'm still trying to pinch myself. I've had to pinch myself about 50 times."

Jennifer Lopez has ‘been grinding for a long time’

Jennifer Lopez has "been grinding for a long time".
The 45-year-old beauty is among the most sought-after stars in Hollywood, but has reminded fans that she's worked her way up from the bottom in the entertainment industry, starting out as a dancer for the likes of Janet Jackson and New Kids on the Block.
She recalled: "I used to be a back-up dancer for the New Kids on the Block if you go into the archives. Oh I love them...I've been grinding for a long time."
The 'Jenny From the Block' singer is set to star as Claire Peterson in new movie 'The Boy Next Door' and she thinks it's the ideal role for her.
She told 'Good Morning America': "It seemed so perfect for me right now in my life.
"[Claire Peterson is] late 30s-early 40s...separated about to go through a divorce, deciding, feeling like at her lowest point in her life. You know how that is, her husband's cheated on her. She doesn't know how to deal with it, and is not feeling desirable.
"And this young man next door - The Boy Next Door - comes along and starts giving her little compliments. She's super vulnerable and she crosses that line. We all have been there and for that reason I felt like I understood her."

Cristiano Ronaldo ‘is dating Spanish TV presenter’

Cristiano Ronaldo is rumoured to be dating Spanish TV presenter Lucia Villalon.
The 29-year-old sports star, who split from model Irina Shayk over the Christmas period, has been linked to the brunette beauty by Spanish newspapers, after they were seen together at the recent FIFA World Player of the Year event in Zurich, where Ronaldo collected the prestigious award.
Neither the Real Madrid player nor Lucia - a law and journalism graduate - have responded to the rumours, which have surfaced shortly after Ronaldo's ex-girlfriend denied that their split was caused by a family feud.
Last week, it was claimed that Ronaldo dumped Irina because she refused to attend a 60th birthday party he was organising for his mother Dolores.
However, a spokesperson for the model-and-actress has refuted those claims, saying: "She has been very close to his family throughout their relationship.
"Any negative rumours about Irina's and Ronaldo's family are completely false and have not been a factor in the cause of the split. Irina has no comments at the moment."
The pair dated for five years, but the future of their relationship was called into question when Ronaldo failed to thank Irina at the event in Zurich.

Mark Ronson heaps praise on Amy Winehouse

Mark Ronson remembers Amy Winehouse as "extraordinarily smart and honest".
The duo frequently collaborated on hit records, including Amy's 2006 album 'Back to Black', and Mark admits to learning a great deal from spending so much time in her company.
The 39-year-old producer explained: "I think certain kinds of lessons - whether they were studio lessons or life lessons, I learnt [from her]... she was extraordinarily smart and honest and all these things, and definitely had a lot of character things I looked up to. We were good friends.
"There were things I took away from our friendship and looked up to even though I was older, together in a superficial way. So yeah, just those things I think about - [it] could be a period where I think about it every day or it could be a period where it goes away for a little bit - but she's always around in the studio."
Mark is immensely proud of their success, but admits it may have contributed to Amy's personal troubles and, ultimately, her death in July 2011, aged 27.
He told BBC Radio 5 Live: "It's kind of amazing. I met this girl and in the course of 10 days, we made this record that we were really into.
"At the same time all this stuff that came with it, [it] might have contributed to her not being here, I don't really know, but they're two different things in my head."

James Blunt blasts British politician

James Blunt has called a prominent British politician a "classist gimp".
The 40-year-old musician was among the stars cited by Shadow Culture Minister Chris Bryant as an example of performers from privileged backgrounds dominating the arts in Britain.
However, James - who attended the prestigious Harrow School - has hit back, writing: "Dear Chris Bryant MP, You classist gimp. I happened to go to a boarding school. No one helped me at boarding school to get into the music business.
"I bought my first guitar with money I saved from holiday jobs (sandwich packing!). I was taught the only four chords I know by a friend. No one at school had ANY knowledge or contacts in the music business, and I was expected to become a soldier or a lawyer or perhaps a stockbroker.
"So alien was it, that people laughed at the idea of me going into the music business, and certainly no one was of any use."
James - who served six years in the military - insists his background has always been a hindrance to his music career, not a help.
He added: "Every step of the way, my background has been AGAINST me succeeding in the music business. And when I have managed to break through, I was STILL scoffed at for being too posh for the industry.
"And then you come along, looking for votes, telling working class people that posh people like me don't deserve it, and that we must redress the balance. But it is your populist, envy-based, vote-hunting ideas which make our country crap, far more than me and my s*** songs, and my plummy accent."
The Labour Party MP has responded to the letter by telling James not to be "so blooming precious".

David Beckham’s damaged car ‘appears on eBay’

David Beckham's damaged Audi is reportedly for sale on eBay.
The 39-year-old superstar was involved in a crash in November last year after collecting his eldest son Brooklyn from Arsenal's training ground in Hertfordshire.
At the time, it was said that the collision left the £80,000 silver Audi RS6 in an unusable condition.
However, the Mirror newspaper reports that it has reappeared on the auction website eBay and is available to prospective buyers for £42,995 - around half the price Beckham is thought to have originally paid for it.
The vehicle is advertised as an "ex celebrity car" and is also described as a "highly desirable sports car", adding that it has "damage to the driver wing door and suspension sill".
The incident occurred when Beckham collided with a woman who was driving a Mitsubishi, with the retired sports star said to be "massively apologetic".
The Beckhams walked away from the crash with only minor injuries, but an eyewitness at the time said it could have been considerably worse for them both.
The witness shared: "Beckham and Brooklyn are lucky to be alive. Beckham took the hit on the driver's side - it could have been a completely different story."

John Travolta explains fitness regime

John Travolta works out at 3am for the benefit of his children.
The 60-year-old Hollywood star was recently pictured in a gym in the early hours of the morning and has revealed he's determined to stay in good shape so he can raise his kids.
The 'Grease' actor - who has a daughter, Ella Bleu, and a son, Benjamin, with his wife Kelly Preston - explained: "[I work out] for my health... as you get older, if you have kids that are young - I mean, my son's four and my daughter's 14. I should be really a grandfather, but I'm a father.
"They still want me to play with them at the level of a much younger man. So in order to stay healthy for them, that's what I do."
John - whose third child Jett died in 2009 - also revealed his exercise regime is not confined to the gym.
He said: "I play tennis every day and I lift weights, and I take vitamins and try to keep my health so I can stick around for them."
Recently, it was announced that John is to play O.J. Simpson's attorney, Robert Shapiro, in 'American Crime Story' and he's looking forward to the task.
He told Access Hollywood: "I took a while to decide, but all my friends, all the people I respect most in the industry, said I should take that leap to do something special on television, and I'm doing it."

Christina Milian’s painful piercing

Christina Milian says getting her nipple pierced hurt more than giving birth.
The 'Be Cool' actress - who has four-year-old daughter Violet with her ex-husband, The-Dream - decided to get an intimate piercing after buying her mother her first tattoo as a birthday gift and though the procedure was quick, it was far from painless.
In a clip from her new reality show 'Christina Milian Turned Up', she said: "I want to get something pierced. And when I say something, I mean my nipple.
"Getting my nipple pierced was definitely worse than childbirth," she explained to the cameras.
"It was quicker, though. Childbirth, 19 hours. Piercing, two seconds."
Meanwhile, Christina, 33, recently revealed that her supportive family is the key to her success when balancing work and home life.
She said previously: "It is a balancing act, for sure. Sometimes I feel like I should be in a circus. But I'm very fortunate, I have a very supportive family.
"I just try to involve her in as many things as I can do with my job. But if I'm going to the studio and it's late, I'll leave her with my mum - but if it's during the day, she wants to come with me. So I try to bring Violet with me wherever I possibly can."

Shakira hosting World Baby Shower

Shakira and Gerard Pique are hosting another World Baby Shower.
The couple - who are expecting their second child - are expanding on the idea they had when expecting their son Milan, who turns two on Thursday (22.01.15), and creating a shareable event for expectant mothers in a bid to benefit UNICEF and vulnerable children around the world.
Shakira said: "Now that we are soon welcoming our second child we want to help other children around the world and also contribute to a long-lasting solution for getting children living in extreme poverty the supplies they need to survive.
"We also want other parents to feel compelled to do the same. With the explosion of social media, celebrities aren't the only ones who have platforms that can reach mass audiences, and we want this movement to keep going long after our baby shower has ended, so we want to invite them to host their own baby showers with UNICEF as well."
Fans can share in the event by featuring a website featuring 'Inspired Gifts' - including midwifery kits with medical equipment for safe delivery of 50 babies, measles and polio vaccines, blankets, baby scales, a football and a storybook - that directly benefit UNICEF's work for children.
Fans can visit the site and donate directly via a link on Shakira's Facebook page, in which she appealed for fans to help "save the lives" of hundreds of thousands of youngsters.
She wrote: "Every woman who's expecting has the power to use the blessing of her child's imminent birth to save the lives of other, less fortunate children around the world. If every expectant mother having a baby shower decided to include among her gift registry some of these "inspired gifts" that UNICEF offers, we could collectively save the lives of hundreds of thousands of children all over the globe."
Through the 'Hips Don't Lie' singer's Twitter page, fans can also buy a special thank you card from the couple and every one sold will unlock more funds for measles vaccines.
More information can be found at worldbabyshower.org.
The couple's first World Baby Shower, which was held from 16 January to 15 February 2013, helped vaccinate 80,000 children against polio, have four tonnes of food delivered to children suffering from malnutrition and 1,000 anti-malaria nets and 200,000 rehydration powders were distributed to those in need.
