Olly Murs’ voice mistaken for Justin Timberlake

Olly Murs’ friends thought Justin Timberlake’s ‘Can’t Stop The Feeling’ was his song.
The 32-year-old singer’s phone exploded with messages from pals congratulating him on the track by the R&B superstar and he "really appreciated" having his voice compared to the 35-year-old ‘Cry Me A River’ hitmaker.
However, he said it would have been "easy" to have written a tune so "happy" like Justin’s as his comeback single.
He said: "It would’ve been so easy for me to come back with a happy Justin Timberlake ‘Can’t Stop The Feeling’ song, which everyone kept saying ‘I love your new single’ when that came out.
"It was before ‘You Don’t Know Love’ and I was like, ‘I haven’t got a single out’. I really appreciated the fact they thought my voice sounded like Timberlake’s."
Meanwhile, the hunky pop star admitted he really "needed" to have themes of heartbreak and moving on in the songs on his new album.
He told Digital Spy: "I think this is the most honest music I’ve done.
"I had no idea what I was going to do for my fifth album. If you’d asked me this time last year, I wouldn’t know what to say to you.
"Going through that heartache gave me the opportunity to write about it. That’s not the whole album from track one to track twelve.
"There’s the heartbreak and then the moving on. I needed that really."
Although Olly – who split up from his girlfriend of three years Francesca Thomas in 2015 – will be baring his soul, the former ‘X Factor’ contestant has assured fans his trademark upbeat sound will still be on the LP.
He previously told BANG Showbiz: "It’s definitely gonna have that (my signature sound) but there’s going to be a bit of an 80s vibe to it, a bit of sexiness too and some cheekiness – I love doing cheeky!"
Olly also teased he’s got some big name collaborations on the record that he’s keeping a secret – for now.
The new record – the follow-up to 2014’s ‘Never Been Better’ – is expected to drop early next year.
