Olivia Rodrigo has unveiled details of her third studio album, You Seem Pretty Sad For A Girl So In Love.
The Good 4 U hitmaker will drop the follow-up to 2023’s Guts on June 12.
She shared on Instagram alongside the album’s cover of her swinging upside down in a pink tea dress: “my third album ‘you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love’ is out June 12th. I am so proud of this record and I can’t wait for you to hear it. available for preorder now! (sic)”
Olivia was previously in a relationship with actor Louis Partridge, 22, and she took inspiration for the album from spending time with him in his native UK – revealing a lot of the songs have “London vibes” because she was hanging out in the city while making the record.
The 23-year-old singer – who reunited with producer Dan Nigro – admitted she still has several tracks left to write before the album is finished but she explained the tracklist is mostly made up of “sad love songs”.
She told British Vogue: “I realised all my favourite romantic love songs were beautiful because they had a tinge of fear or yearning in them.”
Olivia explained one of her new songs is about “what I think being in love feels like”.
She said of the unnamed track: “You’re getting to the core of all of your issues: how you feel about yourself, your insecurities, what makes you joyful.
“It feels like the most raw form of you, which is so scary and terrifying and uncomfortable, sometimes, but beautiful at times.”
Speculation started when fans in Los Angeles and London spotted a wall and padlock with Olivia Rodrigo’s initials, sparking speculation that new music is imminent.
The wall in Los Angeles switched from different shades of purple and pink.
