Olivia and Alex Bowen are open to the idea of shooting a ‘Love Island’ spin-off show.
The loved-up duo – who met on the popular dating show – have revealed they’d be keen to star in a spin-off programme that looks back on the history of the series and its success stories.
Speaking to Daily Star Online, Olivia – who married Alex in 2018 – said: "It is maybe something to think about. Maybe in like five years when there are more couples.
"I’d definitely watch it though even if we weren’t on it."
Alex also expressed an interest in the idea, although he joked that ‘Love Island’ hasn’t had too many real-life successes.
He quipped: "I don’t think it would be very long as not many couple are together now. It will only be about 20 minutes."
The spin-off idea was floated shortly after ITV cancelled this summer’s ‘Love Island’ due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The broadcaster said it wouldn’t be able to guarantee the safety of the contestants during the current crisis.
Kevin Lygo, the director of television at ITV, explained: "We have tried every which way to make ‘Love Island’ this summer but logistically it’s just not possible to produce it in a way that safeguards the wellbeing of everyone involved and that for us is the priority.
"In normal circumstances we would be preparing very soon to travel out to the location in Mallorca to get the villa ready but clearly that’s now out of the question.
"We are very sorry for fans of the show but making it safely is our prime concern and ‘Love Island’ will be back stronger than ever in 2021."
