Oasis ‘exploring plans for a new greatest-hits album’

Oasis are reportedly exploring plans for a new greatest-hits album following the close of their blockbuster 41-date reunion tour.

The band’s comeback gigs ended on Sunday (23.1.25) night before 60,000 fans in São Paulo and sources say discussions about the record centred around conversations understood to be held about possible next steps – including a revived compilation project and further large-scale shows.

Oasis’ tour featured Noel Gallagher, 58, Liam Gallagher, 53, and guitarist Paul ‘Bonehead’ Arthurs, 60, and marked the group’s first performances together in more than a decade.

According to The Sun, plans for a new Oasis greatest-hits collection follow Noel’s previously shelved attempt to assemble a post-2000 compilation, abandoned after Liam opposed the idea.

In a 2023 interview, Noel said: “He wouldn’t have it in the end, I don’t know why.”

But reports now suggest revisiting the project is one of several proposals under consideration after the tour’s success.

A source speaking to The Sun said the scale of the reunion had exceeded expectations and that the brothers intended to take time off to “absorb” what they had achieved.

The insider added: “Noel and Liam will both be taking a long break to compute the magnitude of this tour. Being back together on stage has been incredible for both of them, and to have guitarist Bonehead back with them for the last shows has been nothing short of phenomenal.”

They added: “They’re aware of what their fans want and know the demand would be there if they did decide to put out a new greatest hits album, or to play more shows.”

Further possibilities reportedly circulating include Oasis stadium dates at Manchester’s Etihad Stadium, festival offers such as Coachella and Benicàssim and what one insider described as ongoing discussions around future touring.

Liam has signalled publicly he is open to continuing.

Responding on X to a fan who wrote: “How am i meant to survive if there won’t be another tour next year WE NEED MORE”, Liam said: “You will see me next year and the year after and so on just not sure yet if it’ll be with oasis, we need to sit down and discuss these things. If it was all up to me then you know we’d be touring till the day we die as it’s the best thing in the world but UNFORTUNATELY it’s not.”

The band paused their Brazil show on Saturday (22.11.25) to pay tribute to Stone Roses bassist Gary ‘Mani’ Mounfield, who has died aged 63.
