Nikki Bella jokes royal wedding would’ve ‘stolen her shine’

Nikki Bella thought the royal wedding would "steal her shine" before she called off her engagement to John Cena.
The 34-year-old professional wrestler was due to tie the knot with John earlier this month but called time on their relationship in April just weeks before the big day, and has now joked that "for a while", she believed the upcoming nuptials between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle would steal her thunder.
Speaking about the couple – who will marry in Windsor on Saturday (19.05.18) – Nikki said: "At first I thought the royal wedding was stealing my shine away for a while, I’m like, ‘Of course they have to get married right by when I was getting married.’"
And whilst Nikki and John, 41, may have put the breaks on their romance for the time being, the ‘Total Bellas’ star is confident they can have a "royal happy ending" of their own in the future.
She added: "A healthy me is a healthy us, so I do have hope for our future, and I do think that we’ll have that royal happy ending, but only time can tell."
In recent weeks, the couple have been vocal about their feelings for one another, with ‘Blockers’ star John making several public declarations of love aimed at his former fiancée.
But Nikki still believes she needs "time" to work out what it is she wants from a relationship.
Speaking to the New York Post newspaper’s Page Six column, she said: "I love John so much. He is such an amazing man, I’m just right now going through a period of time where I need to focus on me and work on me."
Nikki – who is the twin sister of fellow wrestler Brie Bella – also previously claimed she thinks John is "Mr. Right", and hopes they will reconcile in the future.
She said: "Only time can tell. I definitely do [think we will get married]. I think he’s Mr. Right. He’s Prince Charming. He’s an amazing man. I hope that our paths do come back together and I think they will … Before I do say those vows and walk down that aisle, I just don’t want to be hesitant. I don’t want to be regretful. I think when you sacrifice for so long, it’s like, you can give so much and then you kind of get tired of giving. And then someone wants to give it back and you just already feel exhausted. I definitely have hope for the future, I really do."
