Niamh Blackshaw struggles with being angry at Talia Grant

Hollyoaks’ Niamh Blackshaw finds it "hard" getting angry with Talia Grant’s character – because they get on so well in real life.
But the 19-year-old star – who plays Juliet Quinn in the Channel 4 soap – admits she and Talia (Brooke Hathaway) do see the funny side when their characters go up against one another.
She said: "It is hard to an extent but it’s also quite funny. We have some scenes after the festival where Brooke actually fights back a little.
"We actually got quite shouty with each other.
"That was quite unusual as Brooke doesn’t usually fight back and that’s the scene we enjoyed the most, when we are actually going in for each other."
As to why Juliet begins verbally attacking Brooke, Niamh confirms it is as a result of Brooke’s autism.
She said: "Due to Brooke’s autism, she’s limited in how long she can stay in places and what she likes to do there.
"She prefers to stay at the back, and watch from afar, and Juliet wants to be right up in the middle, where it is nosiest and loudest and most crowded.
"There’s a conflict there and Juliet feels like no one is listening to her, everyone’s doing what Brooke wants to do and she’s getting annoyed by it."
Talia is autistic in real life and has always been open about her condition.
What’s more, Niamh believes her character is only bullying Brooke because of her own insecurities.
She explained: "She does care for Brooke. I think the reason behind the bullying is due to her own insecurities she doesn’t know how to treat someone nicely.
"In her head, being mean is almost like being nice. Treat em’ mean, keep em’ keen."
