Ed Sheeran thinks Noel Gallagher's view that modern musicians are "careerist" is a compliment.
The 47-year-old High Flying Birds frontman previously attacked today's generation of rock and pop stars for being too focused on accomplishments and wanting to be involved in the business side of their careers.
Noel previously said: "One of the main differences for me is that bands these days are careerists."
However, Ed thinks it's a good thing that artists are more "savvy and sensible" than they were in the 90s when Noel conquered the world with Oasis.
The 'Thinking Out Loud' hitmaker told Big Issue magazine: "I know it's not a very artistic thing to be, into the way things work, but I wanna know everything. Drake's the same, Taylor Swift knows everything about everything.
"Pop stars nowadays are just more sensible, more savvy because it doesn't last as long. It's do your time, earn your money, buy some property and when it all goes to s**t you've got something to fall back on. Whereas his [Noel's] generation, a lot of people just lived for the day. And managers were crooks, record labels took 50 percent."
He added: "When I signed my deal my manager said, 'I know the f***ing deal you gave to James Blunt last week so you'll give Ed exactly the same because I know you can.' Before, it was, 'Record deal? Cool! Sign, done, hits, where's the money!?' Now, everyone's cautious."

Tinie Tempah is set for a comeback next month with a new single featuring Jess Glynne.
The 'Pass Out' hitmaker - whose last LP was 2013's 'Demonstration' - will release 'No Letting Go' with the songstress, who had a worldwide hit with Clean Bandit with 'Rather Be'.

On their inspiration for the song, Tinie, 26, revealed he and Jess, 25, wanted to make a track that "captured" the summer feeling in London.
He explained: "Both being Londoners, I wanted to make a song that captured that London summertime feeling which is always the best time of the year for me and the time where I've had my most romantic experience. Years & Years have completed their debut album.
The pop trio - featuring Olly Alexander, Mikey Goldsworthy and Emre Turkmen - revealed they finally finished the collection, titled 'Communion', on Saturday (09.05.15) and celebrated by getting drunk.
They confessed: "We literally just finished it on Saturday night, did the last song a bit drunk. Our producer sent me out with his debit card to get a couple of bottles of champagne."
The 'King' hitmakers - who are the latest act to be tipped by Vevo as their current LIFT artist - admitted they're now feeling relieved at having completed the collection, because they have spent so long crafting it.
When asked how they feel about finishing the LP, they continued: "It's not really sunk in yet, I feel relief more than anything. There's nothing I can do anymore.
"We're all quite excited that it's done, we're really happy with it."
And 24-year-old frontman Olly explained the title to their album - which will be released on 10 July - was inspired by religion, despite the fact they don't follow a faith.
Speaking on BBC Radio 1 as they premiered their new single, 'Shine', he explained: "When I looked at all the song titles together, they all sounded a little bit religious to me. I'm not religious, the songs have nothing to do with religion, but the songs are all about relationships, or about two people, so 'Communion' is a bit of a play on words."

Leona Lewis has "definitely grown up a lot" for her new album.
The 'Bleeding Love' hitmaker - whose last record, 'Christmas, with Love' was released in 2013 - split from Simon Cowell's Syco label last year and signed a deal with Island Records, during which she feels she has become a lot more mature.
She said: "I'm still the same but I've definitely grown up a lot."
The 30-year-old star continued to say her new-found maturity has helped her to make changes in her life, which she has penned tracks about on her fifth studio album, set to be released later this year.
She explained: "I had to make some pretty big changes in my life and in certain situations, which has definitely tested me, but a lot of that I've written about in this new record."
The 'X Factor' winner - who won the third series of the talent show in 2006 - added she now feels much stronger artistically, because she has written honest songs and spent time "empowering" herself.
Speaking to Ken Bruce on BBC Radio 2, who premiered her new single 'Fire Under My Feet', she said: "I went out and made this record on my own really.
"It's definitely come from a very strong place, and it's just all about empowering myself and hopefully other people through it."

Coldplay's new music has been inspired by 'Game of Thrones'.
The British band, fronted by Chris Martin, have registered several new tracks on music database ASCAP, with three of the song titles referencing the HBO fantasy drama.
Songs placed on the database include 'Rastafarian Targaryen', 'Red Wedding' and 'I'm A Real B*****d', while other titles not relate to the series include 'Closer To Home' and 'Still Going Strong'.
However, 'Game of Thrones' isn't the only fantasy influencing the group - which also features Jonny Buckland, Guy Berryman and Will Champion - as their final new song has been named 'Voldemort', after the evil wizard in the 'Harry Potter' series.
The update comes five months after the 'Paradise' hitmakers revealed they were in the middle of making their seventh album titled 'A Head Full of Dreams'.
In an interview at the time, Chris Martin - who is currently dating 'The Hunger Games' actress Jennifer Lawrence - compared the record to the "last Harry Potter book" as it would be "the completion of something," hinting it could be the band's final album.
He said at the time: "It's our seventh thing and the way we look at it is like the last Harry Potter book or something. Not to say there might not be another thing one day but this is the completion of something.
"It was great to go from 'Ghost Stories' to go right back into the studio and now we're making things that sound different. I have to think of it as the final thing we're doing otherwise we wouldn't put everything into it. Then we will go on tour."

Lawson are "confused" by Zayn Malik's reason for departing One Direction.
The boy band - consisting of Andy Brown, 28, Ryan Fletcher,25, Joel Peat, 24, and Adam Pitts, 24 - don't understand why he said he wanted to lead a "normal life", when he has been working on a solo career and been seen in the studio with producer Naughty Boy.
The 'Juliette' hitmakers told Olivia Jones from Scottish radio station Clyde 3: "I think fair play to him, for doing his own thing and we think the lads are always going to do fine anyway, you know they're the biggest boy band, whatever, in the world ... I'm sure he's going to
do well ... I'm just a bit confused I thought he wanted to be a normal 23 year old or whatever he is."
The British pop band - who had hits with 'Taking Over Me' and 'Chapman Road' - are set to make their return to the spotlight after taking a year out to make new music.
On the progress of their next album, the band said: "It's completely finished, yes. Well we thought it was finished out in Nashville, we've recorded probably 17 songs out there. We came back home and then Andy has this tendency to, we're all kind of happy, we've finished the album, it's quite a creative time for him and suddenly he just gets more inspiration and then a couple of weeks after we got back from Nashville he kind of sent us these two new demos that he'd just recorded and we decided straight away they have to be on the album so we got our producer, John Fields, to come over to London and we did two final songs in London and this was about two months ago now."
Lawson's new single 'Roads' is out now.

James Corden thinks Zayn Malik is irreplaceable in One Direction.
The 'The Late Late Show...' host thinks 1D are right to continue as a four-piece in the wake of Zayn's departure from the boy band as it wouldn't be right to add a new fifth member.
