Adele regrets "hurting people's feelings" with her lyrics.
The 'Hello' singer doesn't want to explain too much about the meaning behind the songs on her new album '25' because she thinks she was to "open" about the material on her previous efforts '19' and '21'
She said: "Last time no one was waiting to try and work out what my songs meant and I was so open about what they were about, I hurt people's feelings with that, a little bit, being so honest.
"Being a bit more immature then than I am now, you know, 'I don't care, you broke my heart' and I felt quite bad about that."
And the 27-year-old singer also wants to be more private for the sake of her partner Simon Konecki and their three-year-old son Angelo.
Speaking to Graham Norton for her upcoming TV special 'Adele at the BBC' - which airs in the UK on Friday (20.11.15) evening - she said: "I've got different things going on now, I have a family and I'm a lioness and I want to protect them, and I also want people to interpret these songs how they want to, rather than me shoving it down people's throats, 'This one is about the time I punched him and then went running off down Oxford Street...' "
During 'Adele at the BBC', the chart-topping singer performed a number of her classic tracks and some new material, as well as chatting with Graham and even showing her comedic skills in a hilarious yet touching sketch.

Adele has promised to perform in America.
The British singing superstar is gearing up to release her highly-anticipated third LP '25' on Friday (20.11.15) and has vowed to perform "at least" as much as she did last time she performed in the US in 2012.
She said: "I will do as many US shows at least as I did last time, which wasn't that many, so don't get too excited."

In an interview on SiriusXM Radio: "It's about being at a party and seeing everyone you've fallen out with.
"Everyone you have ever loved and never loved, where you can't find the time to be in each other's lives and you are all thrown together at this party when you are 50."
The 'Rolling In The Deep' hitmaker made a surprise comeback less than a month ago when she debuted her new song 'Hello'.
Adele's '25' will be released on Friday 20 November via XL Recordings.

Zayn Malik wants to work with Liam Payne.
The 22-year-old singer recently reached out to his former One Direction bandmate for the first time since he quit the group and has admitted they laid their differences aside and are hoping to collaborate in the near future.
Speaking to Fader magazine, he said: "I spoke to Liam about two weeks ago. It was the first time I'd spoken to him since I left the band, and I rung him, and he wanted to talk.
"He said that he didn't understand it at the time, but he now fully gets why I had to do what I did.
"He understands that it's my thing, that I had to do that, and that basically he wants to meet up and sit down and have a good chat in person and he wants to do some music and work on some stuff aside from being in the band, which we always wanted to do anyway."
Since leaving the 'Little Things' hitmakers in March, Zayn has been busy carving out a solo career in the industry and is proud that he's created music that's deemed "cool."
He explained: "I'm working every day now, but I'm working on music that I enjoy. That's [One Direction is] not music that I would listen to. Would you listen to One Direction, sat at a party with your girl? I wouldn't ... If I was sat at a dinner date with a girl, I would play some cool s**t, you know what I mean? I want to make music that I think is cool s**t."
One Direction - made up of Liam, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Payne - are now on an extended hiatus from the group.

James added: "It will be out next year sometime."
Alex and Miles became firm friends when Mile's previous band The Little Flames supported Arctic Monkeys on their 2005 UK tour and joined them again on the road in 2007.

Nothing But Thieves frontman Conor Mason writes better songs when he's hungover.
The 'Trip Switch' singer admitted he finds it easier to work on new music when he is recovering from a night of drinking, because he's not in his own "mindset" in that state.
Speaking exclusively to BANG Showbiz, Conor explained: "I don't know why. I think it's because you're not in your mindset so you come up with a load of crap and sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't."
The 22-year-old singer and his bandmates - Joe Langridge-Brown, Dom Craik, Philip Blake and James Price - have been making a name for themselves with their self-titled debut LP and Conor thinks their sudden success is down to coming along at the "right time".
He said: "Bands like Royal Blood, Slaves, Mortality and even James Bay opened up that kind of guitar band thing, so I think we're gonna add to it as much as we can.
"I love the fact that we're doing our own thing. It opens up another theme in that rock area.
"We are just on the right wave at the minute. We're very lucky in that sense. We are riding it and enjoying it and writing good songs."
The band are gearing up for their March/April 2016 headline UK tour.

Nathan Sykes wants to collaborate with Disclosure.
The former Wanted star - who recently released his second solo single 'Over and Over Again' - likes to keep his fans guessing about his musical direction and he would love to "surprise" them by working with the chart-topping dance duo, brothers Guy and Howard Lawrence.
He said: "I like to surprise people, I think I'd really like to do a collab with a dance producer like a Disclosure ... I think it would be a really cool departure."
The 21-year-old singer also admitted that 'Over and Over Again' was his way of telling former beau Ariana Grande - who he dated for four months in 2013 - how he felt after their split.
He told Fiasco magazine: "I wrote 'Over and Over Again' to tell someone how I really feel about them, because I'm really bad at doing it in person" he laughs. "I'm really quite shy most of the time, maybe 80 per cent of the time I lack confidence talking to 'some' people."
The pop star previously admitted that the song and much of his record is about the 'Love Me Harder' singer.
He confessed: "The time we broke up was really tough. The Wanted decided to take a break and I lost my granddad. I was not in the best place. She was my first grown-up relationship. But sometimes you have to go into a place like that to be able to find the best music out of it. The most emotional song is about me telling myself not to be angry at the break-up because sometimes things just don't work out. That's life."

James are releasing a new album next year.
The British indie band will release 'Girl at the End of the World' on March 18 and frontman Tim Booth has admitted their 14th studio album has been the most "difficult" and "stressful" to record.
In statement, Tim commented: "Bands talk about that difficult second album but it's the trickster 14th one that's the real mother f***er.
"As always with James it's a collaborative process allowing ample room for improvisation, intuition, skill and dumb luck. From the outside our process looks like chaos but chaos is our friend and we have a history that gives us confidence that something magical will eventually appear.
"Most of my best lyrics are unconscious typos so don¹t ask me what it's about; your projection is as good as mine. This was perhaps the most difficult and stressful album we have ever made. I hope you find it as rewarding as we do. OYSTER-GRIT-PEARL. (sic)"
James have numerous hits over the years including 'Sit Down', 'Come Home' and 'She's A Star'.
The Manchester rock group - comprised of Tim, Jim Glennie, Larry Gott, David Baynton-Power, Saul Davies, Mark Hunter and Andy Diagram - first formed in 1982 and were signed to the legendary Factory Records.
After years together and various line-up changes they parted ways in 2006 for Tim to work on separate projects but soon reformed in early 2007.
A new album 'Hey Ma' was released in April 2008, and peaked at number 10 on the UK album charts.
'Girl At The End Of The World' - their first studio release since 2014's 'La Petite Mort' - sees the band work with producer Max Dingel, known for his work with The Killers and Muse.
James have also revealed they will be touring in 2016, and among the confirmed UK dates are a hometown show at Manchester Arena and three concerts in London.
Bassist Jim Glennie said: "The essence of James is live. The pleasure never diminishes. I can't wait for us to get our hands on these songs in front of the best audience a band can have."
The album will be available to pre order from Wednesday, November 18.
