Conor Mason: Nothing But Thieves write better songs hungover

Nothing But Thieves frontman Conor Mason writes better songs when he’s hungover.

The ‘Trip Switch’ singer admitted he finds it easier to work on new music when he is recovering from a night of drinking, because he’s not in his own "mindset" in that state.

Speaking exclusively to BANG Showbiz, Conor explained: "I don’t know why. I think it’s because you’re not in your mindset so you come up with a load of crap and sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t."

The 22-year-old singer and his bandmates – Joe Langridge-Brown, Dom Craik, Philip Blake and James Price – have been making a name for themselves with their self-titled debut LP and Conor thinks their sudden success is down to coming along at the "right time".

He said: "Bands like Royal Blood, Slaves, Mortality and even James Bay opened up that kind of guitar band thing, so I think we’re gonna add to it as much as we can.

"I love the fact that we’re doing our own thing. It opens up another theme in that rock area.

"We are just on the right wave at the minute. We’re very lucky in that sense. We are riding it and enjoying it and writing good songs."

The band are gearing up for their March/April 2016 headline UK tour.
