Iggy Pop has launched a crowdfunding campaign to raise money for Dario Argento's next film.
The punk rocker has been cast by the Italian horror mastermind to play the evil lead in his proposed movie 'The Sandman'.
In order to raise the funds needed, Iggy has filmed a video in which he asks fans to donate what money they can to get the project up and running.
In the video posted on YouTube, Iggy says: "What the world needs so much right now is a good, artistic, gothic, terrifying scare up the boom-boom. If I could play the Sandman for Mr Argento it would make my life complete. I hope I have not just written my own epitaph. Let's all die horribly together in a blaze of glory!"
The IndieGogo campaign for 'The Sandman' launched yesterday (09.10.14) will run for the next month with the total needed being $250,000.
Argento has based the plot on 19th century German author E.T.A. Hoffman's short story of the same name which focuses on the mythical Sandman who steals the eyes of children to feed to his on offspring who live in the moon and one boy, Nathaniel's obsession with the evil being.
The 74-year-old filmmaker - whose previous work includes 'Demons', 'The Church' and 'Dracula 3D' - is setting the film at Christmas and it will open with a young child witnessing his mother's movie because he wants a festive film with "violence and horror".

Will Arnett tormented his lactose-intolerant director on 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' with ice cream sundaes throughout the shoot.
The 44-year-old actor discovered Jonathan Liebesman suffered from the food allergy but also had a sweet tooth for ice cream so as a joke he presented him with sundaes every day, and the filmmaker couldn't resist even though it made him ill.
In an interview with The Guardian newspaper, Arnett said: "He didn't resist. After it became a daily thing, he'd say, 'No, no, no, no, no! I do not want any more ice cream!' And we'd go, 'OK, we'll just leave it, uh, right here.' He'd always buckle and eat it - like angrily, furiously!"
In 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' Arnett plays Vern Fenwick, a news cameraman who is in love with reporter April O'Neil - played by Megan Fox.
'The Millers' star admits he was tasked with the role of injecting extra humour into the film - which he wanted to star in to impress his two sons, Archibald, six, and Abel, four, whom he raises with his ex-wife Amy Poehler.
He said: "The Turtles are a known entity - there's a fun factor to them, almost a parody of superheroes, but they're still superheroes, just jokier, more smart-ass and funny, and you have to keep that balance. My job was to make it lighter, to give you a contrast to the more hard-driving action scenes. There was a lot of space given to improvisation, to finding things that felt fresh, made sense and were funny. They wanted someone associated with April who could inject a little humour and levity, not in a farcical way but in a real way."

Lea Seydoux has signed up for the new James Bond film.
The 29-year-old French actress will join Daniel Craig, Ralph Fiennes, Ben Whishaw and Naomie Harris for the latest instalment of the 007 film franchise called 'Bond 24'.
According to the Daily Mail newspaper, the blonde beauty will undergo a series of costume, make-up and and camera tests under the watchful eye of the movie's director, Sam Mendes and the producers, Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson who will determine what "look" her Bond girl character should have.
Lea has already made her mark on the film industry, after she took home the coveted Palme D'or award at the 2013 Cannes International Film Festival for her performance in the French language film, 'Blue Is The Warmest Colour', alongside her co-star Adele Exarchopoulos and the film's director, Abdellatif Kechiche.
She has also starred in several Hollywood blockbusters, including 'Mission Impossible: Ghost Patrol' and Quentin Tarantino's 'Inglourious Basterds'.
The Daily Mail also reported that the movie executives originally wanted a Scandinavian actress to play the Bond girl, however, a last minute change of heart meant that the casting went to the French star. The crew were also spotted looking at sites in Rome, sparking speculation that the film will include some Italian flavour as well.

Robert Duvall did not remember working with Robert Downey Jr before the pair reunited for new movie 'The Judge'.
Speaking to Jimmy Fallon on 'The Tonight Show', Downey Jr explained Duvall "doesn't really recall" working on the same films, even though they've both appeared in 1989's 'The Gingerbread Man' and 2007's 'Lucky You'.
Downey Jr - who appears alongside Duvall for the third time in new comedy-drama 'The Judge' - said: "I've also gone up to him at restaurants and went, 'Mr Duvall, I just want to...' and he's like, 'What?' and then he didn't know who I was.
"He also said that his favourite movie of mine is Chaplin, even though he hasn't seen it!"
He added: "When you're Robert Duvall you can say that sort of stuff!"
'The Judge' - which was produced by Downey Jr, 49, and his wife Susan, 40 - is released in the US on October 10 and in the UK on October 17.
Meanwhile, Downey Jr revealed recently that he is in negotiations to play Iron Man again.
During an appearance on 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show', the award-winning actor was asked if there are plans for 'Iron Man 4', to which he replied: "I know there are going to be a bunch more Marvel movies and they have big ideas of how to do it best and [they're] in the middle of negotiation."

Tim Roth has been cast in new comedy film 'Mr. Right'.
The 53-year-old - who's appeared in 'Pulp Fiction' and 'Reservoir Dogs' - will appear alongside Anna Kendrick, 29, and Sam Rockwell, 45, in the movie from director Paco Cabezas.
The comedy will chart the path a young female - played by Kendrick - who is convinced she's finally landed the perfect mate - played by Rockwell - only to find out that he's hiding a fatal secret.
Roth, meanwhile, has been cast in the role of Mr. Hopper, the mentor-turned-enemy of Rockwell's character.
The London-born actor is also set to appear in director Quentin Tarantino's 'The Hateful Eight' in 2015.
The much-anticipated new movie is to begin filming in January and is expected to debut in cinemas in 2015.
The film sees see Tarantino once again team up with Bob and Harvey Weinstein, which is consistent with all of his movies being released on Miramax or TWC, both of which were founded by the Weinsteins.
In a statement, the Weinsteins said: "We are incredibly excited to begin production on 'The Hateful Eight', as we know this picture will be as innovative, brash and of course fun as all Quentin projects prior.
"There is, quite simply, no other filmmaker like him, and we are as proud as ever to continue this partnership that started over 20 years ago."

James Marsden doesn't feel like a proper actor.
The 41-year-old admitted that he feels insecure about his acting ability and continues to fear he will not be able to find work, despite having a career spanning more than 20 years.
The 'Butler' star told Hull Daily Mail newspaper: "I still feel like I'm kind of faking my way through it.
"I think one of the common neuroses of being an actor is you feel like your next job is going to be your last job,"
The father-of-three earned his stripes appearing in 'Zoolander' and 'X-Men', but is most well known for his roles in romantic drama 'The Notebook' and flamboyant musical 'Hairspray'.
But the actor - who has also recently embarked on a music career - has now learnt to reassure himself of his capacity to perform.
He continued: "Now I actually feel like, 'OK, you've been doing this for 20 years, you understand the business, you understand the technical aspects of being on set, you know what's required of you and where your strengths and weaknesses are. OK, you'll keep working'."
And it seems that he's enjoying his career path even more as he gets older, despite being uncertain about his future in the industry, stating that he finds the roles to be far more intriguing than those he was offered as a youngster.
He explained:"The older you get, the more interesting the roles are. When you're young, you're playing the Romeo and Juliet and it's all love-driven and hearts coming out of your eyes.
"When you're older, there's more complexity to the way you show love, and what's carried with that, and there's a pain behind it sometimes."

Hugh Grant never prepares for a movie role.
The 54-year-old actor admits it's rare that he does any preparatory work for a part and instead prefers to deal with whatever challenge he's been handed on the first day of filming on set.
He told ITV's 'Good Morning Britain': "I've barely ever done any research for a film. I just turn up and say the lines and hope they sound convincing."
What's more, Grant - who has appeared in iconic films such as 'Notting Hill' and 'Love Actually' - said he has no interest in starring in a high-profile action role like James Bond, suggesting such parts are "boring".
He explained: "I mean you sit around all day, your stuntman does most of your work, and occasionally you say, 'Noooo!' and that's the end of your day."
Earlier this week, Grant's long-time collaborator Richard Curtis said he initially considered the actor to be "too good looking" for the role he ultimately played in the 1994 film 'Four Weddings and a Funeral'.
Speaking at the Cheltenham Literature Festival, Curtis, 57, explained he was reluctant see Grant fill the role of Charles because he was too handsome.
He said: "The absolutely key thing for that film when I was writing it was that the person who was playing the lead would not be good looking. That was the absolute starting thesis of the film.
"So when finally we'd auditioned every single young person in the country and we were voting, me, Mike [Newell, the director] and Duncan [Kenworthy, producer], two people voted for Hugh - that was them. And I voted for someone else."

Benedict Cumberbatch would dress in drag to play Queen Elizabeth II.
The 38-year-old actor - who is currently starring as gay mathematician Alan Turing in the WW2 thriller 'The Imitation Game' - has joked he would be up for playing the British monarch, even though he's a man.
When asked why it took so long for authorities to pardon his character - who was prosecuted for his homosexuality in the UK in 1952 - the 'Sherlock' star said: "Why couldn't it have been earlier? I don't know. I'm not the Queen or David Cameron.
He then quipped: "Maybe those will be my next roles. I'd like to see me in that frock."
Although an Oscar buzz has already started circulating around Benedict's portrayal of the code-breaker - who was a key figure in solving Nazi Germany's Enigma code which ultimately helped the allies win World War II - the actor is ignoring the praise but is happy that the rumours may encourage people to go see the film.
Benedict - who attended the film's premiere at the Odeon in London's Leicester Square with his co-star Keira Knightley on Wednesday night (08.10.14) - said: "If it gets people to see the film, frankly, that really is all I care about. I really want his story to be known as broadly as possible.
"It's a great honour to be asked to play someone like Alan Turing."

Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures are in talks to create an Avengers and Spider-Man crossover film.
The two companies are said to be in early talks to develop a film together which could see Peter Parker join the team of superheroes.
Spider-Man frequently appeared alongside The Avengers in the popular series of Marvel comics, but Marvel Studios sold the film rights to the web-slinging character years before the global success of their 2012 movie 'The Avengers'.
According to EW, the companies are in "delicate preliminary conversations." However it's not the first time that discussions have taken place, with 'The Amazing Spider-Man' director Marc Webb admitting that previous efforts to develop a joint project had been unsuccessful.
Earlier this year, Spider-Man actor Andrew Garfield sparked rumours that a collaboration could happen when he said that he would like to star in a crossover movie.
He admitted: "I would love that. I know that the fans would love that, the fans of the Marvel universe ... the more the merrier, the bigger the better."
The revelation follows the plans of other shared universe films for Spider-Man such as the female-led 'Venom' and 'The Sinister Six', which is set to be released in 2016.
