George Lucas initially wanted to direct 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens'.
The 70-year-old creator of the sci-fi franchise had been planning to make the new movie and release it in 2015, before selling on his production company Lucasfilm.
However, Lucas said the commitment needed for a 'Star Wars' trilogy, allied to Disney's interest in buying the franchise, prompted him to give up creative control.
He said: "It's better for me to get out at the beginning of a new thing and I can just remove myself. The time is more important to me than the money."
Lucas - who is also responsible for the 'Indiana Jones' franchise - said he is looking forward to watching the much-anticipated new 'Star Wars' film as a fan.
He told USA Today: "The only thing I really regret about Star Wars is the fact I never got to see it - I never got to be blown out of my seat when the ship came over the screen. The next one, I'll be able to enjoy it like anybody else."
'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' opens in cinemas in December 2015.
Sacha Baron Cohen has made himself an enemy of Grimsby in England.
The 43-year-old actor has visited various pubs in the town and has been filming scenes for his new comedy film - titled 'Grimsby' - but locals are incensed by his unflattering portrayal of the sea port.
Nev Carrick, landlord of the Corporation Arms, explained: "Sacha Baron Cohen was in here for a couple of hours with other people.
"They were all sat there in the corner, just talking and watching.
"He was loving it. He told me he wanted to use the pub as the base in the film for his character's gang.
"He also asked for a receipt for his expenses - for a £3.50 pint. I told him we don't do receipts, but he needed one, so we had to write one on the back of a beer mat."
However, Nev, 51, is horrified by how his hometown has been depicted, insisting it's unfair and inaccurate.
He told The Sun newspaper: "They were being polite but we could see through them, we knew what they were going to do.
"For a successful comedian I would've thought he'd have come up with a more original joke than 'it's grim in Grimsby'. But by the looks of it he's made a whole film out of it.
"A lot of people in this town are unhappy about it, especially his fat, tattooed women characters. I don't know where he's seen them around here, I certainly haven't."
'Grimsby' - which also stars Isla Fisher and Penelope Cruz - is set for release in July 2015.

'Beetlejuice 2' has been written with the hope Michael Keaton will return.
The 63-year-old actor played the title role in the 1988 supernatural comedy, and the screenwriter for the movie's sequel, Seth Grahame-Smith, has now revealed he hopes it will feature the original star.
Instead of the idea the film could be rebooted with a new cast, the 39-year-old writer admitted he is keen for the 'Batman' actor - who picked up the Best Actor (Comedy or Musical) Golden Globe on Sunday (11.01.15) for 'Birdman' - to return for the movie which will be set in the present day.
Seth was employed by acclaimed director Tim Burton to pen the film's script after previously working with him on an adaptation of his book 'Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter' as well as the script for 2012's 'Dark Shadows'.
Choosing not to speak about the project in great detail while in conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, he did confess he has decided to take the Michael's "less is more" approach with the character, pointing out he doesn't feature until the halfway point in the original film.
Speaking in December while promoting 'Big Eyes', Tim Burton mentioned he misses the creepy character and teased the project is "closer than ever".
He said: "There is a script, and I would love to work with [Keaton] again. I think there is now a better chance than ever. I miss that character. There's something that's cathartic and amazing about it. I think it's closer than ever."
Jane Hawking was "astounded" by Felicity Jones' portrayal of her in 'The Theory of Everything'.
The 31-year-old actress starred as Professor Stephen Hawking's on-screen wife alongside Eddie Redmayne, and Jane - who was married to the theoretical physicist from 1965 until 1995 - admits to being stunned by her performance.
She reflected: "When they were filming, she came to dinner several times and we talked and we talked. I thought, 'What is she going to make of me?'
"But she is a method actress and when I saw her on screen in those first shots when she arrives at the party I was just astounded. I thought, 'She's stolen my personality!' because she had my mannerisms, she had my speech patterns. It was a very weird experience."
The film is based on Jane's memoir, 'Travelling to Infinity: My Life With Stephen', and she's thrilled with the adaptation.
Jane told the Guardian newspaper: "They made a beautiful film and I had to reconcile myself to the compromises that one has to make for the film industry. Stephen's colleagues all became one character called Brian who is always there as his companion. Sadly, I didn't seem to have any friends or relations at all."
'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' will not be released as two separate films.
Henry Cavill, who is playing the role of Superman in the much-anticipated movie that will also feature Ben Affleck, has moved to dismiss claims the film will be released in two parts.
The 31-year-old star told Variety that the Zack Snyder-directed film will be released as a single picture, contrary to internet speculation last week.
Cavill also came out in support of his co-star Affleck, saying he makes a "great" Batman, having taken over the iconic role from Christian Bale, who starred in three films in the franchise: 'Batman Begins', 'The Dark Knight' and 'The Dark Knight Rises'.
Speaking at the BAFTA tea at the Four Seasons in Beverly Hills, Cavill offered an update on how 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' is progressing.
Asked whether he's been injured in any of his fight scenes with Affleck, he said: "Are you kidding? I'm the Man of Steel."
Cavill was also quizzed on how 'Dawn of Justice' will compare to the Marvel films, to which he replied: "You'll see."
'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' is set to open in March 2016.

Maggie Gyllenhaal is grateful for "revolutionary" women's roles.
The 37-year-old star - who picked up the gong for Best Actress in a Miniseries or TV Movie for her part in 'The Honourable Woman' at the 2015 Golden Globes last night (11.01.15) - thanked her fellow actresses for taking on new roles and portraying "actual women" when she made her acceptance speech at the Beverly Hilton hotel in California.
She said: "When I look around the room at the women in here and I think about the performances that I've watched this year.
"What I see, actually, are women who are sometimes powerful and sometimes not, sometimes sexy and sometimes not...what I think is new is the wealth of roles for actual women in television and film. That's what I think is revolutionary and evolutionary, and it's what's turning me on."
The brunette beauty - who has two children Ramona, eight, and Megan, two, with her husband, actor Peter Sarsgaard - went on to thank her family, including her brother, 'Nightcrawler' star Jake Gyllenhaal, with whom she attended the awards, and the 'The Honourable Woman' director Hugo Blick.
She said: "I want to thank a couple of wonderfully complicated women in my life.
"My mum... and my daughters who will one day be great women and I want to thank my brother who is an amazing date for telling me to wrap up, I'm sure that's not a surprise to anyone. And I've got to thank Hugo Blick - who wrote, directed and produced every minute of the honourable woman, I share this with you.
"And to my husband - who is a lover of complicated women - obviously. I could never have done this without you, thank you so much."
