Dakota Johnson wore "a patch" over her pubic area while filming 'Fifty Shades of Grey'.
The 25-year-old actress, who starred alongside Jamie Dornan in the raunchy film based on the novel by author E.L. James, appeared to have excessive pubic hair in one particular scene - but cinematographer Seamus McGarvey admitted it was fake.
He explained: "[She] had kind of a patch that went over her pubic area, and right round her whole body."
Seamus explained that some of the most eye-catching scenes were created in the editing suite.
Speaking during a panel discussion with The New York Times newspaper, he said: "We were in the curious situation, in post-production, of adding [pubic hair].
"I wouldn't say it was one of the highlights of my career, but it certainly was one of the most surreal scenarios."
The revelation comes shortly after Dakota bickered with her mother over whether she should watch her in 'Fifty Shades of Grey'.
Dakota took her movie star mother Melanie Griffith to the Oscars ceremony in Los Angeles last month, where they disagreed over whether the 57-year-old actress should see the much-discussed film.
Asked if she will watch the raunchy movie, Melanie said: "I don't think so - I think it would be strange. She's a really good actress. I don't need to see that to know how good she is."
Dakota - who plays Anastasia Steele in the S&M-themed film - replied: "I think it's fine. I think you can see it one day."
Melanie then responded: "If she tells me to see it, I'll see it."
However, Dakota seemed unimpressed by her acceptance, saying: "Alright, you don't have to see it."

Sigourney Weaver doesn't think sci-fi films "get enough respect".
The 65-year-old actress - who is, perhaps, best known for playing Ellen Ripley in the 'Alien' franchise - has hit out at critics of the genre, but thinks attitude towards such films will change in the coming years.
Weaver, who stars in new movie 'Chappie', said: "It is a genre that I think doesn't get enough respect when you consider how many issues sci-fi brings up that we need to deal with."
Asked why the genre is so often overlooked for Academy Awards, she told Digital Spy: "I think part of it is the Academy is mostly people like me who are over a certain age and they're still probably looking for the more conventional movie.
"I think all that's going to change because some of the work being done in sci-fi is some of the most interesting, provocative work out there."
Meanwhile, Weaver and 'Chappie' director Neill Blomkamp are set to reunite for a new 'Alien' movie.
The director said the film will feel like the "genetic sibling of Aliens", meaning it will disregard 'Alien 3' and 'Alien: Resurrection' and will instead carry on from the James Cameron-directed 'Aliens'.
He explained: "I want this film to feel like it's literally the genetic sibling of Aliens. So it's Alien, Aliens, and then this movie."

Chris Weitz was inspired to go into the world of cinema by the 'Star Wars' movies.
The 45-year-old writer has been asked to script the eagerly-awaited 'Star Wars' spin-off movie, and while he remains tight-lipped on specific aspects of the film, Weitz has revealed his deep-rooted love of the sci-fi franchise.
He shared: "It's a total dream job. The reason I make movies now has a lot to do with having seen Star Wars when I was seven years old. That's the formative movie-going experience of my life. But, I don't think I'm unique in that.
"Everybody who's working on the movie was affected, in that way. I think it's so incredibly special to be able to try to recapitulate that feeling I had when I was sitting in that theater, as a 7-year-old. It's an extraordinary job. I'm incredibly lucky."
Asked whether the Lucasfilm production company - which was sold to Disney in 2012 - has been heavily involved with the script, Weitz told Collider: "It's early days yet. But, I think that everybody involved feels such a sense of duty and responsibility to the franchise and to their own childhood memories that everybody is heading in the same direction."

Jamie Dornan has secured a massive pay rise to star in the 'Fifty Shades' sequels.
The 32-year-old hunk - who starred opposite Dakota Johnson in the raunchy film based on the novels by author E.L. James - was rumoured to want out of the franchise following the negative reaction to the first movie, but he's now agreed to remain in the role and is set to pocket £4.5 million for appearing in the last two films.
A friend shared: "Jamie has signed the deal and he's thrilled. The money on offer was just too good.
"He's been really worried that he will get typecast as Christian Grey and it will do his long-term career ambitions damage. So he was about to walk away and leave it all behind. Then bosses of the movie franchise came back with the jaw-dropping offer."
It has been reported that Jamie's wife, Amelia Warner, was opposed to him appearing in another 'Fifty Shades' film, because of the steamy scenes with Dakota Johnson.
However, Jamie's friend told the Daily Star newspaper: "Amelia has no issue with it at all but Jamie is too embarrassed to let her see racier scenes."

Jennifer Lawrence and Steven Spielberg are to collaborate on a new biopic.
Warner Bros. is busily working on a deal that will see Lawrence, 24, star in the movie and Spielberg, 68, direct the film, titled 'It's What I Do: A Photographer's Life Of Love And War'.
The plot - based on a memoir by Lynsey Addario which has been excerpted by The New York Times Magazine - tells the story of a woman who goes into war zones in search of truth, Deadline reports.
Addario, a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, who travelled to Afghanistan in the aftermath of the terrorist attacks on the US in 2001, and attracted attention by giving an identity to people who were involved in the conflict.
She was also kidnapped by pro-Quaddafi forces during the Libyan civil war.
Meanwhile, Lawrence recently rubbished claims she had an on-set argument with David O. Russell, with whom she is currently working on the film 'Joy'.
She wrote on her Facebook page: "Hey guys! It's Jen! I know I don't go on here a lot because I can barely work email but there's been a terrible rumor going around the last 24 hours so I wanted to clear it up.
"David O. Russell is one of my closest friends and we have an amazing collaborative working relationship.(sic)"

Jamie Dornan is to star in 'Anthropoid'.
The 'Fifty Shades of Grey' actor will star opposite Cillian Murphy in the World War II thriller, which tells the story of the attempted assassination of prominent Nazi official Reinhard Heydrich by two British-trained soldiers from Czechoslovakia's army-in-exile.
British filmmaker Sean Ellis will direct from a script he has co-written with Anthony Frewin and is looking forward to bringing the tale to the big screen.
He said: "I feel incredibly proud to bring the story of Anthropoid to the big screen.
"I have been fascinated by the story for the last 14 years and find it immensely humbling to explore the bravery of the men and women of the Czech resistance who sacrificed themselves for the freedom of their country while dealing a blow into the heart of Nazi Germany.
"In the Czech Republic, it is a story of great national pride and it's time to tell the world that story."
The title of the movie refers to Operation Antropoid, the code-name for the operation to kill the head of the SS, who was widely considered to be third in the Nazi ranks behind Adolf Hitler and Heinrich Himmler.
As well as 'Athropoid', another movie about the assassination mission is also in the works, with David Farr's script 'HHhH' - an adaptation of the Laurent Binet novel - currently gathering support thanks to producer Alain Goldman, though it has no cast or a sales company attached yet.
Jamie will next start work on thriller 'The Siege of Jadotville', which is due to shoot in the spring.

Phil Lord has promised '23 Jump Street' will be "outrageous".
The American director, who helmed the two earlier movies - '21 Jump Street' and '22 Jump Street' - alongside Chris Miller, has revealed plans for the third instalment of the popular franchise are progressing at pace and he's offered a tantalising preview of what fans can expect.
Lord shared: "Rodney Rothman is off writing a script. He had a really outrageous idea for what to do, and how we could take our scorched-earth sequel policy from the end of '22 Jump Street' and do something that hadn't been explored in those 22 sequels and simultaneously tell the next chapter in the story."
However, Lord refused to confirm or deny whether he and Miller will helm the new movie, or whether they will be confined to the role of producers.
Asked about their role with the movie, he told the New York Times magazine: "We don't know what the future is going to bring in terms of that, but we are definitely involved, and certainly part of the producing team. We're really excited about the movie and will be a big part in bringing it in front of audiences."

Mike Leigh doesn't "abandon" actors.
The 72-year-old director, who helmed the Oscar-nominated movie 'Mr. Turner' featuring Timothy Spall, says he collaborates very closely with performers, but is wary of giving them too much creative control.
Asked how reassuring it is to have an actor as capable as Spall in the starring role, Leigh said: "Anybody that would have played the part would have been as up to it as Tim. Because there are a lot of very intelligent, responsible, resourceful actors around. Indeed that applies to everybody else in the film, there are 80-odd actors and they're all delivering the goods equally.
"The fact is, he's the main character and he's got the biggest share of the pie. But he absolutely rises to it and is brilliant, that's not in question.
"I do collaborate very closely with the actors all the way down the line, I don't abandon them and let them go off and do whatever they want, because that wouldn't amount to a coherent film."
Spall plays the British painter J.M.W. Turner in the movie, and Leigh revealed it was the director's idea for him to take painting lessons to prepare for the role.
Leigh reflected: "He was playing Turner, what else did you expect him to do? If he was playing a motor-racing driver he'd have to start driving around.
"It's very basic and straightforward. People think it's remarkable, but it's not remotely remarkable."
'Mr Turner' is available on DVD and Blu-ray now.

Lily James believes in "true love".
The 25-year-old actress stars in the Sir Kenneth Branagh-directed version of 'Cinderella', playing the central character alongside Cate Blanchett and Helena Bonham Carter, and insists she believes in the film's central message.
Speaking about her role in the new movie, Lily told The Sun newspaper: "I believe in the magic of people and of connections, and I believe in true love.
"I don't know if I believe that you can turn a pumpkin into a carriage, though - unless you're on some crazy drugs."
Meanwhile, Sir Kenneth revealed recently he was determined his retelling of 'Cinderella' was relevant to a modern audience.
The 54-year-old director said his live-action version of the classic fairytale - which also stars Richard Madden - needed to be significantly different from the original animated version.
Reflecting on his new movie, Sir Kenneth explained: "I did want to make a film that was about courage and about kindness and about a psychological modernity in the middle of this traditional story.
"The Cinderella myth continues to capture our imaginations."
Sir Kenneth is more familiar with directing plays written by William Shakespeare, but he still sees similarities between those stories and 'Cinderella'.
He shared: "We have the line Cinderella is told by her mother: 'Have courage and be kind'; some people thought it seemed trite, but I was reminding them of King Lear when Edgar says 'Have patience and endure' at the point he's being put in the stocks and mocked.
"Patience to me equates to compassion, and endurance is a form of courage - it reminded me that these basic, human and fundamental situations get seized on by great storytellers and there are obvious resonances between all these stories."
