Zac Efron ‘stoked’ to star in Baywatch movie

Zac Efron is "stoked" to be starring alongside Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson in the 'Baywatch' movie.
The 27-year-old hunk has been cast alongside the wrestler-turned-actor in the eagerly-awaited new movie and has revealed he can't wait to start filming.
Asked whether he's excited by working with The Rock, Zac told BANG Showbiz: "I'm pretty stoked, yeah. I'm very, very excited."
In the meantime, Zac has been busy promoting his new movie 'We Are Your Friends', in which he stars alongside Emily Ratajkowski as a struggling DJ in the electronic dance music scene, and has claimed he can strongly identify with his on-screen character.
Reflecting on the movie at its European premiere at the Ritzy Cinema in Brixton, London, Zac said: "One of the best experiences of my life. This movie is really for our generation and I don't know what it is that I identify so strongly with. I don't know what that reason is.
"It's a combination of the music, the story, the sort of coming of age elements. It's really relevant to right now and what it's like to be a young person in this world, trying to find his way and make it in the workforce. He and his friends grow up and stay true to themselves. It's exciting."

The Notebook to be made into TV series

'The Notebook' is going to be rebooted as a TV drama.
The American romantic drama - one of the first films Hollywood hunk Ryan Gosling and blonde beauty Rachel McAdams starred in - is being adapted into a TV series.
The head of the CW network Mark Pedowitz has confirmed the film based on Nicholas Spark's novel is already in the works and has said it will be "set after world war two" and the old couple played by the 'Drive' actor and 'Southpaw' actress will not be shown in their elder state like in the film.
He said: "The Notebook is a very very well received book and motion picture. It is going to be set after world war two. at this point, the pilot is not done, I don't believe that we're going to see the older couple and what they become. But again, things change and this is just now the beginning of the conversation. I am thrilled that Nick Sparks wanted to do it with the CW. I'm looking forward to it."
According to The Hollywood Reporter 'Bandslam' filmmaker Todd Graff will take on scriptwriting duties and will also executive produce alongside Nicholas and 'The Longest Ride' producer Theresa Park.
It's still early days and not known who will play the lead roles and when it's likely to be released.

Winona Ryder confirms Beetlejuice 2 role

Winona Ryder is to star in 'Beetlejuice 2'.
The 43-year-old actress has revealed she's been cast alongside Michael Keaton and Tim Burton in the much-discussed sequel to 1988 original, which also starred Alec Baldwin.
Asked whether there was any truth to the 'Beetjuice' speculation, Winona said: "Um, I think I can confirm it, because Tim Burton did this interview - like, it was very hush hush, top secret ... and then he was doing some press for 'Big Eyes' and he did an on-camera interview and he said, 'Oh yeah we're doing it and Winona's going to be in it,' and I was like [shocked face]."
Last year, Tim Burton admitted a 'Beetlejuice' sequel was possible, but only if Michael Keaton could be tempted back to play the starring role.
He said: "There's only one Beetlejuice, and that's Michael. There is a script, and I would love to work with him again. I think there is now a better chance than ever.
"I miss that character. There's something that's cathartic and amazing about it. I think it's closer than ever."

Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese reunite for The Devil in the White City

Leonardo DiCaprio is reuniting with director Martin Scorsese for 'The Devil in the White City'.
The 40-year-old Hollywood star - who's previously worked with the acclaimed filmmaker on 'The Departed', 'Gangs of New York' and 'The Wolf of Wall Street' - is expected to play serial killer Dr HH Holmes in the film adaptation of Erik Larson's 2003 book.
Dr Holmes used the 1893 World's Fair in Chicago to lure his victims to their deaths and claimed to have killed 27 people.
However, some later estimates suggested his death toll was nearer 200.
The screenplay is being written by Billy Ray, who scripted 'Captain Phillips' and 'The Hunger Games'.
In recent times, Leonardo has been balancing his movie career with his charitable work.
Last month, the actor's self-titled foundation, which he founded in 1998 to fund efforts that protect the planet and endangered species, pledged £15 million to more than 30 environmental groups "implementing innovative and impactful conservation projects around the globe".
He said: "The destruction of our planet continues at a pace we can no longer afford to ignore.
"We have a responsibility to innovate a future where the habitability of our planet does not come at the expense of those who inhabit it. I am proud to support these organisations who are working to solve humankind's greatest challenge."

Judd Apatow: I want to be the Silver Surfer

Judd Apatow wants to star as the Silver Surfer.
The 47-year-old filmmaker - who's previously directed 'Knocked Up' and 'The 40-Year-Old Virgin' - has revealed he would love to direct a movie based on the Marvel Comics character just so he could cast himself in the main role.
He said: "I would cast myself as Silver Surf, just as a way to lose weight."
Judd also offered some tips to aspiring film-makers, suggesting non-stop writing was the key to his career success.
Judd told the Guardian newspaper: "There's only one tool: you need to sit and write. A lot. And as soon as you finish a screenplay, don't talk about it for half a decade. Just star another. The more you write, the better you'll get."
Meanwhile, Judd also revealed the most effective way of becoming a director is to convince other people you are.
He explained: "The best way to become a director is to just say you are a director. There are no degrees, no qualifications. Just say it's your job and then go and make something."

James Wan to produce Mortal Kombat movie

James Wan is to produce the new 'Mortal Kombat' film.
The 38-year-old filmmaker - whose previous credits include directing 'Insidious' and 'Furious 7' - has signed on to play an important role with the much-discussed reboot based on the popular video game series.
The movie's script is being put together by Oren Uziel and Dave Callaham, who have previously worked together on 'Mortal Kombat Legacy' and 'The Expendables'.
The new 'Mortal Kombat' movie will add to the list of projects James is preparing to take on, which includes directing 'The Conjuring 2' and 'Aquaman' for Warner Bros.
He will, however, be hoping to replicate the success of 'Furious 7', which became one of the highest grossing movies of all time when it was released earlier this year.
The movie's success has already ensured that an eighth installment will be made, with Jason Statham telling fans to expect some "great stuff".
The British actor - who plays Deckard Shaw in the franchise - explained: "The fanbase is very unique.
"They really do relate to the characters. They love these characters. They've followed them for years and years.
"We're already talking about doing another one, part eight, and I'm a newcomer. I just got invited to the party in this last one, so it's nice to know that I'll be doing another."

Amy Schumer: I’m a good role model for feminists

Amy Schumer thinks she's a suitable poster-girl for women.
The 34-year-old comedian - who stars alongside Bill Hader in 'Trainwreck' - has admitted that although she never intended to become a role model for the feminist movement, she's happy to accept the responsibility.
She explained: "I didn't set out to become a role model but I accept it and I'm thrilled about it and I think these women are in good hands because I know my intentions.
"I do think that I'm a good role model, believe it or not. I'm grateful for the opportunity."
Meanwhile, Amy admitted her sister, TV producer Kimberly Schumer, is the funniest person she knows and that the pair share a similar sense of humour, having grown up in the same house.
She told Time Out London magazine: "She's really funny. We live pretty honestly - to a fault. I think some people are relieved when we're out the room.
"Also, because we grew up in the same household, she just knows what noise to make or what face to make that will make me just die laugh.
"She totally inspires me and I really care what she thinks about me so part of me living in a way that I'm proud of is how I'm reflected in her eyes."

Zac Efron for Baywatch?

Judd Apatow: I’m like an indie rock band

Judd Apatow thinks he's like an "indie rock band".
The 47-year-old filmmaker - who's directed popular movies such as 'Knocked Up' and 'The 40-Year-Old Virgin' - has admitted he views every film as an "experiment" and is pleasantly surprised by his own success.
He explained: "Every joke and every movie is an experiment, so you never know if it's going to work.
"I've always liked what I'm working on but there have been times when I thought that there were only a small percentage of people who would agree with me.
"I felt more like an indie rock band. I'm always happy when something does really well, but a lot of the things I like aren't very popular so I will think about to heal my wounds when nobody shows up."
Meanwhile, Judd - whose parents divorced when he was a child - admitted he likes to see traditional relationships prosper at the end of his movies.
He told the Guardian newspaper: "As a child of divorce I probably root for people to make their relationships work.
"I guess I could make movies about people who end up sad and alone or alone and thrilled, and maybe I will one day, but usually I root for people to make human connections and find happiness in a somewhat healthy relationship.
"I don't see that as a conservative value. I just like to be hopeful."
