John Boyega wouldn’t let anyone hold his lightsaber

John Boyega wouldn't let anyone hold his lightsaber on the set of 'Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens'.
The 23-year-old actor plays new hero Finn in the highly anticipated next instalment in the franchise and he's confessed he was so excited about receiving his own Jedi weapon that he wouldn't let anyone else touch it.
He said: "Man, the lightsaber came in this case. The guys brought it out and I'm like, 'Now's the moment, now's the time'.
"I held it in my hand and I just felt, you know, the clouds open up and the white doves come flying down. It feels very, very good. I hugged it for the whole day. I didn't allow anyone to hold it but me."
The 'Attack the Block' star admitted he's still trying to convince director J.J. Abrams to let him take the prop home.
Asked if he got to keep it, John told Empire magazine: "No, but we're working on that..."
Boyega's Finn was first seen holding the lightsaber in a teaser of the upcoming film and again in the third trailer and it's been pointed out that its the same blue lightsaber wielded by Luke Skywalker in previous 'Star Wars' films.
'Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens' is set for release worldwide on December 19.

Ava DuVernay reveals her Hollywood frustration

Ava DuVernay is frustrated by the lack of diversity in Hollywood.
The 43-year-old director - who helmed the 2014 hit 'Selma' - has expressed regret that so few women are currently making movies.
Asked to name her biggest frustration, Ava said: "That only four percent of studio directors are women. It defies culture in so many ways.
"It affects the way we see ourselves and the way we are seen by others. It gets into the DNA of how we treat each other, the policies we make, what we're able to say and do to each other."
Ava admitted there's no easy solution to what has become a deep-rooted problem.
She told The Hollywood Reporter: "For there only to be one dominant voice determining what's said and saying it is something that all like-minded people who believe in dignity of everyone should be concerned about. That comes into play for women and for people of colour.
"It's not a problem that can be fixed by the word 'diversity', whatever that means. It's a problem that's going to take a multipronged solution and allies all over the place who say, 'We want to make a change.'"

Kate Winslet refuses to set personal goals

Kate Winslet doesn't set personal goals because she doesn't want to "disappoint" herself.
The 40-year-old actress has enjoyed a hugely successful career in Hollywood, winning numerous awards for her on-screen performances, but has revealed she resists the temptation to set specific career targets.
Asked what she'd still like to achieve, Kate said: "I don't have specific personal goals. I think that if you set yourself up to achieve something, then inevitably you won't achieve it and I'm just not the kind of person to want to unnecessarily disappoint myself.
"I think my goal in the next five years is to keep working and to play lots of different parts that are challenging and interesting to me."
The Oscar-winning star is a veteran of the movie business, but remains appreciative of the opportunities that come her way.
She told Elle magazine: "After 23 years in the job, I am very fortunate to say that I do love it still feel challenged by it. Not everyone can say that."
Kate - who recently starred alongside Michael Fassbender in 'Steve Jobs' - also revealed she's open-minded when it comes to deciding which roles to accept.
She said: "There's never really one specific thing that I look for in a script. It could be another actor, or a director, or sometimes it's just the character.
"With the Dressmaker and Steve Jobs, it was a combination of all of those things coming along at the same time."

Justin Bieber stars in Zoolander 2 trailer

Justin Bieber stars in the first full trailer of 'Zoolander 2'.
The 21-year-old singer leads a star-studded cast of cameo performers in the new comedy movie, which sees Ben Stiller reprise the role of dimwitted male model Derek Zoolander.
In the new clip, the 'Boyfriend' hitmaker is seen running up walls and posing for selfies, while British actor Benedict Cumberbatch plays an androgynous model.
The famous duo are joined in the clip by the reigning Formula One World Champion Lewis Hamilton and American comedian Will Ferrell, as well as Oscar-winning actress Penelope Cruz, who is seen sporting a sexy outfit.
The clip is shot in the Italian capital Rome and features some of the most recognisable celebrity faces.
There has been much speculation surrounding the identity of the celebrities who will star in the much-discussed new movie and earlier this year, Ben Stiller confirmed he would "definitely" like to see British model Cara Delevingne make an appearance.
Meanwhile, the likes of Naomi Campbell and Jourdan Dunn, and married couple Kim Kardashian West and Kanye West, have all been linked to roles in the new film.

New X-Men movie ‘to begin shooting in 2017’

Another 'X-Men' film will reportedly begin shooting in 2017.
The future of the money-spinning franchise has been the source of much speculation in recent months - with the likes of Jennifer Lawrence and Hugh Jackman set to walk away from their roles - but it appears director Bryan Singer is set to return to helm another sci-fi movie in two years' time.
Michel Trudel, President of Mel Studios, where the new 'X-Men: Apocalypse' has been filmed, told De Journal de Montreal: "It was a miracle that we managed to attract the movie 'X-Men' in Montreal in 2013.
"To convince Fox to return for a second and now a third is simply amazing."
Significant parts of 'X-Men: Days Of Future Past' and 'X-Men: Apocalypse' were filmed in Montreal, and so it's widely expected that the franchise will soon return to the Canadian city.
The speculation comes shortly after Nicholas Hoult teased details of the new 'X-Men: Apocalypse'.
Asked what he is allowed to say about the film, he said: "It's under wraps. But Oscar Isaac is playing a powerful mutant called Apocalypse. It's set in the 1980s and reintroduces some of the characters from the previous films but with more stories from when they were younger."

Emma Stone ‘to star in Love May Fail’

Emma Stone is set to star in a movie adaptation of 'Love May Fail'.
The 27-year-old actress is reportedly set to assume the role of a conflicted heroine in the movie based on the book by author Matthew Quick, who penned the 'Silver Linings Playbook'.
The plotline centres on a former housewife who is healing after going through a "demoralising" divorce, with the film adaptation being produced by Matt Tolmach and Elizabeth Cantillon, Variety reports.
Emma recently starred alongside Joaquin Phoenix in the Woody Allen-directed 'Irrational Man' and is working with the likes of Ryan Gosling and J. K. Simmons on the musical comedy-drama film 'La La Land'.
And so busy is her schedule, Emma also declined the opportunity to star in the female-led 'Ghostbusters' reboot, although she admitted to being impressed by the script.
Emma said it was simply was too "big" a commitment for her to make.
She said: "The script was really funny. It just didn't feel like the right time for me.
"A franchise is a big commitment - it's a whole thing. I think maybe I need a minute before I dive back into that water."

Andy Serkis: Star Wars’ Lord Snoke is ‘severely damaged’

Andy Serkis' 'Star Wars' character is "severely damaged".
The 51-year-old actor's role in 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' has been shrouded in secrecy but he's now revealed his character Lord Snoke is both "powerful" and "vulnerable".
He explained: "He is severely damaged. Although he's a powerful leader, he comes across as vulnerable. Very scarred and disfigured."
Serkis is no stranger to playing somewhat unusual characters having taken on the role of Gollum in the 'Lord of the Rings' and 'The Hobbit' films and Ape King Caesar in the 'Planet of the Apes' franchise, but he's admitted 'Star Wars' has been the most "challenging".
He told Empire magazine: "We used a sort of 'Kongolizer' method of having sound come out of speakers to give a sense of scale and distance for the character. So it was very challenging and scary, in fact probably one of my most scary film experiences I've ever had."
The 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' actor added that fans aren't the only ones who have been kept in the dark about his character.
He explained: "I worked specifically with Domhnall Gleeson and with Adam Driver. My first day was basically standing on a 25-foot podium doing Lord Snoke without the faintest idea what he looked like... or in fact who he was! I was very high up, totally on my own, away from everybody else, but acting with them."

Ridley Scott teases opening of Blade Runner 2

Ridley Scott has revealed the opening scene of 'Blade Runner 2' will hark back to the original movie.
The acclaimed filmmaker helmed the 1982 sci-fi hit and has offered fans an insight into the much-anticipated follow-up, which will star Harrison Ford and Ryan Gosling.
He shared: "We decided to start the film off with the original starting block of the original film. We always loved the idea of a dystopian universe, and we start off at what I describe as a 'factory farm' - what would be a flat land with farming.
"Wyoming. Flat, not rolling - you can see for 20 miles. No fences, just ploughed, dry dirt. Turn around and you see a massive tree, just dead, but the tree is being supported and kept alive by wires that are holding the tree up. It's a bit like 'Grapes of Wrath', there's dust, and the tree is still standing. By that tree is a traditional, 'Grapes of Wrath'-type white cottage with a porch.
"Behind it at a distance of two miles, in the twilight, is this massive combine harvester that's fertilising this ground. You've got 16 Klieg lights on the front, and this combine is four times the size of this cottage. And now a spinner [a flying car] comes flying in, creating dust."
Ridley, 77, revealed how Harrison Ford will make his entrance in the movie.
He said: "Of course, traditionally chased by a dog that barks, the doors open, a guy gets out and there you've got Rick Deckard. He walks in the cottage, opens the door, sits down, smells stew, sits down and waits for the guy to pull up to the house to arrive.
"The guy's seen him, so the guy pulls the combine behind the cottage and it towers three stories above it, and the man climbs down from a ladder - a big man. He steps onto the balcony and he goes to Harrison's side. The cottage actually [creaks]; this guy's got to be 350 pounds. I'm not going to say anything else - you'll have to go see the movie."

Pierce Brosnan: Spectre is too long

Pierce Brosnan thinks 'Spectre' is "too long" and has a "weak" storyline.
The 62-year-old actor, who starred in four Bond films from 1995 to 2002, has blasted the new movie, arguing it should have been more "condensed".
Pierce said: "I was looking forward to it enormously. I thought it was too long. The story was kind of weak - it could have been condensed. It kind of went on too long. It really did."
The Irish actor praised Daniel Craig's performance in the Sam Mendes-directed movie, but thinks he was letdown by the plotline.
He told HitFix: "['Spectre'] is neither fish nor fowl. It's neither Bond nor Bourne. Am I in a Bond movie? Not in a Bond movie?
"But Daniel, in the fourth go-round, has ownership of it. He had a nice looseness to him. He's a mighty warrior, and I think he found a great sense of himself in this one with the one-liners and a nice playfulness there. Just get a tighter story, and he'll have another classic."
Pierce also defended Daniel after he recently said he'd rather "slash" his wrists than return to the part of 007.
He said: "By the time you finish making a Bond movie, you don't want to hear the name, see the name or have anything to do with it because you just want to go to ground. Give him another year off here, and he'll be ready to rock and roll for sure."
