John Boyega wouldn’t let anyone hold his lightsaber

John Boyega wouldn’t let anyone hold his lightsaber on the set of ‘Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens’.

The 23-year-old actor plays new hero Finn in the highly anticipated next instalment in the franchise and he’s confessed he was so excited about receiving his own Jedi weapon that he wouldn’t let anyone else touch it.

He said: "Man, the lightsaber came in this case. The guys brought it out and I’m like, ‘Now’s the moment, now’s the time’.

"I held it in my hand and I just felt, you know, the clouds open up and the white doves come flying down. It feels very, very good. I hugged it for the whole day. I didn’t allow anyone to hold it but me."

The ‘Attack the Block’ star admitted he’s still trying to convince director J.J. Abrams to let him take the prop home.

Asked if he got to keep it, John told Empire magazine: "No, but we’re working on that…"

Boyega’s Finn was first seen holding the lightsaber in a teaser of the upcoming film and again in the third trailer and it’s been pointed out that its the same blue lightsaber wielded by Luke Skywalker in previous ‘Star Wars’ films.

‘Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens’ is set for release worldwide on December 19.
