Tom Hiddleston: I’m fascinated by private vulnerability

Tom Hiddleston is fascinated by the "exterior of people".
The 34-year-old actor has revealed he relishes his job because it allows him to explore the inner-thoughts of different types of people.
He told the Observer newspaper: "I suppose I'm fascinated by the private vulnerability and the exterior of people.
"I think that's an essential truth. I sort of quite like trying to find what makes people tick behind the construction of their identity."
Tom stars as the American country singer Hank Williams - who died of heart failure at the age of 29 - in his latest movie, 'I Saw the Light'.
The British star admitted he is "proud" of the movie, in which he was taken out of his comfort zone as a performer.
He added: "I mean, that sounds arrogant. I'm just proud to be in such a ... It was so far away from me; it was really not my life experience at all."
Meanwhile, Tom recently admitted he would be keen to replace Daniel Craig as James Bond.
He said: "I did hear recently that he is making another one. And I would never want to usurp or even attempt to usurp Daniel Craig's place in the James Bond pantheon. But, in an entirely hypothetical situation ... Of course it would be ... that would be huge ... I think I would enjoy the experience."

Michael B Jordan: Staying in shape was hard

Michael B. Jordan found staying in shape for 'Creed' "really, really hard".
The 28-year-old actor began his preparations to play boxer Adonis Johnson Creed over a year before filming started and admits sticking to a strict diet regime was tough.
He said: "To walk around in that shape is really, really hard, especially with the schedule of life in general.
"It's probably one of the hardest things I've had to do. I ate clean - no sodas, no junk food.
"You have your cheat day and eat whatever the f**k you want, but the next day you feel it and it kind of tell you that you don't want it."
Michael had to train as a "real fighter" but admits screen boxing is very different to practicing the sport in real life.
He told heat magazine: "I had a trainer who was there smacking s**t out of my hand for the first week and a half until I got used to it.
"During pre-production, I trained as a real fighter.
"In the movie, you have to over-exaggerate or telegraph the moves, in a slo-mo shot or something.
"You go into movie boxing mode - it's 'moxing'. Know what I'm saying?"

Brie Larson grateful for rejection

Brie Larson feels "grateful" for rejection.
The 'Room' actress thinks all he times she was turned down or experienced "darkness" have benefitted her film performances in some way.
She said: "I feel grateful every day for all the times I was told no.
"The thing I appreciate the most is the darkness I've experienced because I wouldn't know how to play Ma in 'Room' or Grace [from 'Short Term 12'] if I hadn't experienced loss or sadness, I wouldn't know how to express it.
"It's such a valuable part of our experience, to not become afraid of the pitfalls, but to instead become curious about them."
The 26-year-old star was inspired to become an actress because she didn't relate to the women she saw on screen and wanted to do something different.
She told Britain's ELLE magazine: "I'm fascinated by all the contradictions in women.
"I enjoy showing all the ways we are flawed and beautiful, unconventional and different.
"As I watched American cinema growing up, I never felt like I related to those women. I never felt like they represented me.
"I always assumed there must be something wrong with me because I don't look that beautiful when I get up in the morning and I don't get the guy in the end. It fuelled me with a desire to tell stories that were different."

Mackenzie Crook: My face suits Fagin or Scrooge role

Mackenzie Crook "fully expects" he'll have to play Fagin or Scrooge in the future.
The 'Pirates of The Carribean' star is resigned to the fact that he isn't "classically handsome" and thinks his face is more suitable to portray an unsavoury character from a Charles Dickens novel, such as the leader of a gang of pick-pocketting children in 'Oliver' or the rich old miser who finds redemption in 'A Christmas Carol'.
The 44-year-old actor mused: "I fully expect to do a lot of Dickens in the future. I know that I haven't got a classically handsome face; I've got a characterful face. I'm going to have to play Fagin at some point. Or Scrooge."
Ron Moody famously played Fagin in the 1968 movie adaptation of 'Oliver' - for which he won a Best Actor Golden Globe and Oscar nomination - and was recognisable for his large nose and pointed chin.
But despite predicting his future castings on the basis of his looks, Mackenzie says people are still wrong to assume he is pale and therefore unhealthy.
In an interview with The Times magazine, he commented: "People project paleness onto me. Whenever I read desriptions of myself, it's always about how unhealthy I look or how pasty white I am. I actually tan really easily.
"My metabolism can't keep this up for ever. I'm as skinny as I ever was, but I'm expecting to get really fat any day now."

Brie Larson stayed out of the sun

Brie Larson avoided the sun for four months before shooting 'Room'.
The 26-year-old actress portrays Ma, a woman who has been held captive for years, in the movie and did a lot of research into how her physical condition would be, having been isolated for so long.
She said: "I spoke to doctors and nutritionists about what would happen to the skin, hair, nails and teeth given that she doesn't have a toothbrush, hairbrush or soap.
"There's very poor nutrition and no vitamin D so I worked with a nutritionist to go on a sparse diet and worked out with a trainer every day.
"I also had to stay out of the sun for three or four months before we started shooting. It's very hard to avoid the sun in LA. So it was long sleeves and a sun hat every day."
Brie has won a Golden Globe and been nominated for the EE Rising Star Award at the upcoming BAFTAs thanks to her role in the film, and though she's tipped to win Best Actress at the forthcoming Academy Awards, she isn't getting too excited.
She told Stylist magazine: "I don't know [if the buzz is helpful], we'll see if people go and see the movie.
"It's like talking about a fantasy wedding when you don't have a boyfriend."

Cate Blanchett’s villainous role in Thor: Ragnarok

Cate Blanchett is to play a villain in 'Thor: Ragnarok'.
Earlier this month, it was revealed the 46-year-old actress had signed up to the third 'Thor' film and now it's been reported she has joined Marvel's cinematic universe as Hela, the daughter of the God of Mischief Loki and the leader of the dead souls of the Nine Realms, according to Geek.com.
The site reports that Blanchett will be seen "complete with her cloak and power over the dead souls of the Nine Realms" and will reach Asgard to wreak havoc with her father - played by Tom Hiddleston.
The Norse apocalypse or Ragnorak - which translated means "the doom of the gods" - will transpire as the comic books depicts it, which includes a great battle and an uprising of dead spirits.
Mark Gruffalo revealed his character Bruce Banner - who turns into The Incredible Hulk whenever he gets angry - and his friendship with Chris Hemsworth's Thor, will feature heavily and there will be elements of a classic on the road buddy story, despite the main characters being superheroes.
He said previously: "It is a universal road movie - that's where we're heading. It's not where you'd think it will be, so it's not your classic road movie but it has that structure, I think."
Blanchett is no stranger to playing fantasy characters and has starred as Galadriel, the co-ruler of the Lothlórien in 'The Lord of The Rings' franchise.
'Thor: Ragnarok' will be directed 'What We Do in the Shadows' filmmaker Taika Waititi and is slated for release in November 2017.

Tom Hardy: Acting was my saviour

Tom Hardy says acting "saved" him during a "dark time" in his life.
The 38-year-old star is one of the most in-demand actors in Hollywood but prior to his success, he suffered from drug problems and alcoholism - having once collapsed after a crack cocaine binge - and has now opened up about how his profession saved his life.
And Tom also credits the bond he shares with his father, Edward "Chips" Hardy - a novelist and comedy writer - and wanting to make his dad "proud" for bringing him back from the edge.
Tom shared: "In death, I was reborn ... The only thing that saved me through that dark time was acting.
"I originally got into it because I wanted to make my father proud of me. Because I was an only child, this was very important to me - and there wasn't very much of anything else that I could do. But acting was something I could do - and because I found that I was good at it, I wanted to make the effort to invest time and effort into doing it.
"These days, I'm lucky enough to do it for a living; and I love it and I learn from it every day."
Hardy is enjoying a phenomenally successful period in his career receiving critical acclaim for his portrayal of English gangsters Reggie and Ronnie Kray in 'Legend', playing a battle-hardened road warrior in 'Mad Max: Fury Road' and for his performance as John Fitzgerald in 'The Revenant' - which has earned him a Best Supporting Actor nomination at the Academy Awards.
He admits he enjoys playing bad guys on the big screen because they are so far removed from his own life.
Hardy told the Daily Mail newspaper: "Playing the bad guy is a safe way of entering a fantasy world ... I am as frightened of these characters as anyone is, because I have seen them in real life and they really do scare me."
