Amber Heard joins DC Comics universe as Mera

Amber Heard has been cast as Mera in 'The Justice League: Part One'.
The 29-year-old actress is joining the DC Comics universe as the underwater queen - and the wife of Aquaman - for the hotly-ancitipated movie and for the standalone film 'Aquaman', which is due for release in 2018.
When asked if she'd tried the costume on by Entertainment Tonight, she said: "Yeah, yeah I have. It's interesting. It's like, half suit of armour, half scales.
"I don't know, it's strange. But we're in the process of building it now, so it's coming along."
Meanwhile, Amber will be joined by Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck in the film, with the stars reprising their roles as Superman and Batman respectively.
And Henry previously admitted he could play the character forever.
Of the role, the 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' star gushed: "It's a wonderful role. There's a huge potential there for complex storytelling, and I'm looking forward to exploring those avenues. Come on, it's Superman! You can't be p****d off at the idea of playing Superman for the rest of your life."
He jokingly added: "Oh sorry, I'm just the grandaddy of all superheroes. It's such a pain."

Woody Harrelson wants Hunger Games spin-off for Haymitch

Woody Harrelson wants a spin-off movie featuring a romance between 'Hunger Games' characters Haymitch Abernathy and Effie Trinket.
The 54-year-old actor longs for the pair to get their own film after the franchise - which is based on the books by Suzanne Collins - came to an end in December and even stole a kiss on the lips from Elisabeth Banks in a scene in the final installment 'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 2', because he has a "crush" on her.
Woody - who plays the mentor of 'Hunger Games' characters Victor and Katniss opposite Elisabeth's Effie - quipped: "I have a crush on Elizabeth Banks, I'm not going to lie ... When we did (kiss), it wasn't like just a light thing where we thought it was nothing. Hopefully, once we do the sequel to this that no one's expecting - including the author - something will pick up for these two."
Woody admitted he instigated the unscripted smooch because he finds Elisabeth so "beautiful" and doesn't think she minded because she's a genuine professional.
Speaking in an interview for the 'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2' Blu-ray combo pack - he said: "I think she's a beautiful woman, I think she's a marvellous actress, and I just love her as a person. "She's as fun as can be. She didn't know I was even going to do it, and I just kissed her. She's such a pro."

Keanu Reeves reveals Bill and Ted 3 is ‘closer’

Keanu Reeves has teased 'Bill & Ted 3' is "getting closer".
The 51-year-old actor starred as Theodore 'Ted' Logan in the previous two iconic comedy films, 1989's 'Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure' and 1991's 'Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey', and he is keen to reprise the role that catapulted him to fame.
Speaking in an interview with IGN, he said: "We're closer and we're not closer. We're trying to get the story right. We're working with this studio so we have a little bit of support, in a sense of like if the material comes through we'll try and make this picture."
The movies - which spurned famous lines like such as "party on dudes" and "most excellent" - were a global box office success and spawned video games, a comic book, a short-lived TV series and a breakfast cereal.
Last year, Alex Winter - who played Bill S. Preston Esq. in the original movies - revealed that Keanu had been re-watching the old films for the last several months and had told him he wanted to revisit the time-travelling franchise.
Alex, 50, said: "He started watching the earliest cuts of this movie a year ago, and was just super into it.
"It's really funny, because I asked him (if he wanted to do a sequel) and I could tell he was waiting for me to ask. Because he was like, 'Yeah, duh.' "

Christopher Nolan opposes Sean Parker’s Screening Room

Christopher Nolan has criticised a proposal to release movies in the home on the same day they premiere in cinemas.
The 'Inception' director is opposed to Screening Room, a start-up company backed by Internet entrepreneur Sean Parker, which proposes to implement an in-home movie service, and his comments come a day after James Cameron said it would have a "disastrous" effect on the income and future of movie theatres if their exclusivity to screen films first was taken away.
Nolan backed the 'Avatar' filmmaker, saying in a statement: "It would be hard to express the great importance of exclusive theatrical presentation to our industry more compellingly than Jon Landau and James Cameron did."
Art House Convergence, a group of roughly 600 speciality theatres, has opposed the proposal too, however, a number of directors have publicly backed Parker's idea.
'Lord of the Rings' filmmaker Peter Jackson believes Screening Room will "expand the audience for a movie - not shift it from cinema to living room".
In a statement to Variety, Jackson said: "Screening Room is very carefully designed to capture an audience that does not currently go to the cinema.
"It does not play off studio against theatre owner. Instead it respects both, and is structured to support the long-term health of both exhibitors and distributors - resulting in greater sustainability for the wider film industry itself."
While 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' director J.J. Abrams thinks Screening Room will create another revenue stream for the movie industry that would ultimately improve the experience for audiences in the future.
Abrams said: "It actually is beneficial to the exhibitors ... they're targeting groups that actually don't go to the movies at all. If they could harness even a fraction of the number that don't, the amount of money that would go to the cinemas is significant and actually is amazingly helpful to the cinematic experience."
Screening Room has proposed to implement a charge of $150 for access to a box that transmits the films and will give customers 48 hours to watch the movies.
The hope is to capture middle-aged audiences whose family responsibilities prevent them from routinely going to the cinema.

Neve Campbell got ‘tired’ of ‘Hollywood rat race’

Neve Campbell pulled back from the "Hollywood rat race" after feeling she had become typecast.
The 42-year-old actress starred as lead character Sidney Prescott in the highest-grossing slasher film series 'Scream', but she got disillusioned with the deluge of horror films that were then offered to her so decided to take a step back from the movie business.
Speaking to the Metro newspaper, she said: "I just got tired of the Hollywood rat race and moved to England for seven years. This business is fickle
"It's not based on how good your work is but how big your last movie was. I got offered horror films but I didn't want to do any more of those.
"Eventually, my US agent called and said 'Do you care at all about your American profile?' That's when we decided to move back to LA for a year."
After becoming a mother in 2012, Neve stayed relevant by taking smaller roles in shoes such as 'Greys Anatomy' and 'Mad Men' and she can currently be seen in Netflix series 'House of Cards'.
Talking about her role as Leann Harvey in political drama, Never admits she enjoys being "being an older women" and playing a "grown-up" character after years as a scream queen.
Never - who has three-year-old son Caspian with her partner JJ Feild - said: "I play Leann Harvey, who's a Texan. She's intelligent, successful, driven. I don't have any fear of ageing. I like being an older women. I like being a strong women. Which is why I like doing House of Cards. I actually get to play a grown-up."

Michael Mann plans Heat prequel

Michael Mann is planning a 'Heat' prequel novel which could be turned into a movie.
The 73-year-old director's 1995 crime film starred Hollywood legends Robert DeNiro and Al Pacino as career criminal Neil McCauley and cop Lt. Vincent Hanna and became a cult classic.
Now, two decades on, Mann is set to write another story around the characters that it is hoped will be adapted for the big screen.
It has been revealed that the filmmaker is ready to sign a deal to create his own company, Michael Mann Books, that will publish his future works and it's said that a prequel novel to the crime thriller is one of his top priorities.
'Heat' was written and directed by Michael and featured stellar performances from its leading men.
Set in Los Angeles, it follows DeNiro as McCauley and his crew of professional bank robbers, which included Val Kilmer as Chris Shiherlis, who want one final big score with Pacino's Hanna determined to stop them.
Speaking about the original 'Heat' storyline, Mann - who is married to Summer Mann and whose other credits include 'Public Enemies' and 'Collateral' - previously revealed he had based the characters on people he knew and had observed.
He said: "This is based on observations. This is based on people I have met, people I've known, people I've sat with and talked to. Thieves, cops, killers. It's not derived from other cinema, it's based on research."

Kirsten Dunst wants to wait for right roles

Kirsten Dunst thinks it is important to wait for the right roles.
The 'Midnight Special' star insists she chooses each part based on its own merits and won't settle for anything that's not "good enough".
She told C magazine: "Honestly, there was nothing that I wanted to do. There were no roles. There was nothing good enough. I feel like I wait a lot."
Meanwhile, the 33-year-old actress previously revealed she suffered from anxiety when she wasn't working but has since learned it is alright to take a back seat sometimes.
She said: "When I was younger, I actually felt anxious when I wasn't working. Then there was a moment where I was kind of sick of [acting]. But then it shifted for me and I re-loved it in a different way.
"I feel much more confident in myself [now], in life ... I don't stress as much now. I've grown more sensitive though. The older I get, the more sensitive I've become. I don't know why. I think it's that age where death is more around you ... I appreciate things more. I mean, I've always been very grateful, but I feel far more grounded than I did 10 years ago.
"I want to be able to do good work and I think the more that you're out there, it starts to take away from your artistry. I don't want to be a movie star who needs to live behind a big cape because I'm so in the public eye all the time."

Tom Hanks hails Emma Watson as ‘fascinating’

Tom Hanks thinks Emma Watson is a "fascinating" and "dedicated" person.
The 59-year-old actor was approached by the 'Harry Potter' star to speak on behalf of the HeForShe campaign, which encourages men to take an active stance for gender equality, and has praised her for her relentless commitment to the cause.
During an interview conducted by Emma - who stars alongside Tom in forthcoming sci-fi movie 'The Circle' - the 25-year-old actress asked him why he had agreed to support her cause, to which he sweetly replied: "I find Emma Watson as fascinating as she is accomplished. Time spent with someone as dedicated and as smart as she is, to me, is time well spent."
The two-time Oscar winner strongly believes that women shouldn't be cast solely as mothers or sex symbols in film, because it lessens the "art" of movie-making and the humanity of the character.
He explained to Emma during an interview for Esquire magazine: "The art form of cinema becomes less of an art, and no longer holds the mirror up to nature when women are reduced to being only hot or nurturing ... when rules of gender and character dictate what stories are told and by whom, when women are required to be only hot or only nurturing, they no longer are full dimensional humans. That's not art, and it brings less enlightenment to the world."

John Goodman stayed in character in 10 Cloverfield Lane

John Goodman pretended to be an "a*shole actor" on set of '10 Cloverfield Lane'.
In the psychological thriller, the 63-year-old actor plays Howard Stambler, a man with "a personality disorder", who believes there has been an alien attack or Russian military offensive against America and starts holding people captive in an underground bunker.
Goodman needed to be rude to his castmates - including Mary Elizabeth Winstead and John Gallagher, Jr. - in order to master the sinister and complicated character.
Asked how he delved into the mind of Howard, he explained: "I'll try and stay, not in character, but stay with the rhythm of the piece for when we picked it up again. I tried to remain a little distance just to be an a*shole actor."
He added: "I'd never played a guy like this before. I like the idea of a survivalist facing judgement day, it was all new. It was all fresh.
"He's a lonely guy and I think he liked to put up a front, he definitely has a personality disorder, so there was a lot there, and it's a great script. With a script this good you don't have to do a lot of research."
Goodman has also revealed he had no idea the film was meant to be "a secret".
Fans were left in shock when they discovered the movie was being released just two months after its production was announced, with producer J.J. Abrams hiding the title of the film by releasing production details online under the title 'Valencia'.
But Goodman had no idea the movie - which is a sequel to 2008 monster movie 'Cloverfield' - the project was top secret when he was making it.
Talking to website HeyUGuys, Goodman said: "I didn't know it was a secret film, I hadn't thought of it that way. They asked us not to spill too much of the plot development if any because there are so many surprise twists, but I did it and moved on to other things."
