Michael Eavis: It would be ‘marvellous’ if Oasis reformed at Glastonbury

Michael Eavis hopes Oasis will reunite at Glastonbury.

The 78-year-old founder of the music festival has confessed he is in constant talks with brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher and would love for them to reform their former band for a headline slot.

He said: "I do talk to Noel and Liam a lot. Wouldn’t it be marvellous for them to relaunch at Glastonbury now Liam has split from Beady Eye?"

However, 47-year-old Noel – who confessed he and Liam, 42, were on "good terms" again last month following their falling out backstage in 2009 – has shot down rumours of a reunion to mark the 20th anniversary of Oasis’ hit second album ‘(What’s The Story) Morning Glory?’ next summer.

He said: "I’m f**king looking forward to spoiling everybody’s party next year. We won’t be doing it."

Meanwhile, Michael has revealed another artist he’s interested in booking for the annual event at Worthy Farm in Somerset, south west England, after noticing a gap in her recently released tour schedule.

He told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "Taylor Swift would be great to follow the Dolly Parton slot – especially being a country singer."

Commenting on speculation that rock royalty Fleetwood Mac are to perform next year, he added: "No, Fleetwood Mac isn’t looking good at the moment. I’m afraid not."
