Meghan Markle plans to become a UK citizen

Meghan Markle plans to become a UK citizen.
The American star became engaged to Prince Harry earlier this month and ahead of her much-anticipated wedding at Windsor Castle in May next year, it’s been confirmed that Meghan intends to take up UK citizenship.
A spokesman revealed that the brunette beauty would retain US citizenship through the process of becoming a UK citizen, although he added that it was "too early to say" whether the former ‘Suits’ actress would retain dual nationality.
The process of becoming a UK citizen is expected to take a number of years.
Thus far, the Royal Family haven’t announced a specific date for Harry’s wedding – but it is widely expected that the occasion will be staged later in the month of May as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge after anticipating the arrival of their third baby in April.
Meghan and Prince Harry sat down for their first official interview as a couple on Monday (27.11.17), a few hours after their engagement was announced to the world.
During the chat, Prince Harry said that his late mother, Princess Diana, would have loved his wife-to-be and he believes she would have been overjoyed by their engagement.
He explained: "I think she would be over the moon, jumping up and down, you know so excited for me, but then, as I said, would have probably been best friends with Meghan.
"It is days like today when I really miss having her around and miss being able to share the happy news.
"But you know with the ring and with everything else that’s going on I’m sure she …"
But before the royal could complete his sentence, Meghan said: "She’s with us."
Harry also believes his mother would have struggled to have contained her excitement at the announcement.
He said: "I’m sure she’s with us, jumping up and down somewhere else."
