Meghan Markle reportedly turned down Serena Williams’ offer to attend her baby shower to support Prince Harry at the Audi Polo Challenge at Ascot.
The 35-year-old actress missed out on the chance to share her close pal’s special day celebrating the news she is expecting a baby with Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian at a party in Miami, in favour of making her first public appearance with the flame-haired hunk.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "Meghan had been planning to go to Miami this weekend for Serena’s shower.
The girls are really close and Serena was looking forward to seeing her.
"But at the last minute Meg bailed and went to see Harry in the UK instead."
Meghan and Harry shared their first public kiss at the event held over the weekend.
The 32-year-old royal and the ‘Suits’ actress were spotted smooching and cuddling in the car park at the racecourse in Berkshire, England on Sunday (07.05.17), and Meghan is believed to have spoken with Harry’s former Army officer mentor Mark Dyer.
An insider shared that Harry and the brunette beauty’s relationship is getting serious and that Mark is very pleased with his pal’s choice in girlfriend.
According to the Daily Mail, a source said: "Dyer’s opinion is important to Harry.
"Mark really likes Meghan. They have been getting on like a house on fire."
Meghan has only been dating Harry – the grandson of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip – for just over a year, but she has been welcomed into the family with open arms.
A source recently said: "She’s very much been accepted into the family. They are so happy to see Harry happy."
The pair are to attend Harry’s sister-in-law Pippa Middleton and her fiancé James Matthews wedding ceremony on May 20 at St Mark’s church in Engelfield, England.
