Matt Edmondson missed Saturday’s (03.09.16) ‘Xtra Factor’ live show after his wife went into labour.
The 30-year-old TV presenter was absent from the show, which was hosted by his co-star Rylan Clark-Neal – who explained that Matt had dashed off to be with Bryony Emmett.
He said: "Before we go on you are probably wondering where my lovely Matt is.
"Well I am so excited to announce that his lovely wife has literally just gone into labour so obviously he has dashed off to be with her. We just want to send our best of luck!"
A tweet on the ‘X Factor’ account read: "WATERS-BREAKING NEWS: @MattEdmondson is excused from tonight’s #XtraFactorLive because his wife has gone into labour. Good luck, guys!"
Matt – who married Bryony in 2013 – tweeted an embarrassed face and baby emoji.
Matt and Rylan took over the spin-off from Rochelle Humes and Melvin Odoom this year but admitted they are planning to get sacked from the ‘Xtra Factor’ before the end of the series.
Rylan said: "We’re very much knowledgeable that this is a one year thing so we’re going to go out with a bang. We’re actually aiming to get sacked before the end of the series. We’re just going to enjoy it."
However, Louis Walsh won’t be happy if Rylan does get the axe as he had to "bully" Simon Cowell into giving him the job.
Rylan said: "Louis did bully Simon for about three years. But this show is nothing without Louis Walsh. He’s older than water but we love him. We love him!"
Matt said: "I am unbelievably excited about joining ‘The Xtra Factor’ this year, not least of all because on my first day Louis Walsh walked into my dressing room topless, unannounced. I regard this as the definition of ‘living the dream.’"
