Matt Bellamy not a natural rock star

Matt Bellamy struggles to be a rock star becomes he is an "introvert".
The Muse singer is to headline the Glastonbury Festival on Friday (24.06.16) potentially playing to over 100,000 fans at Worthy Farm in Somerset, South West England.
However, Bellamy insists he is naturally quite a shy person and has had to learn how to be a frontman on stage and the ‘Supremacy’ hitmakers’ extravagant stage shows have helped give him the confidence to be a rock god.
In an interview with the Daily Telegraph newspaper, he said: "I’m somewhat introverted. Introverts probably have a higher degree of outside stimulus and tend to back off … Even now, I would probably be more inclined to just play the guitar and look at Dom (Howard) and Chris (Wolstenholme), rather than face the audience, but that’s not really an option. Those big productions helped push me out of my comfort zone. There’s an element of the band that’s been a great personal journey for me, coming out of my shell."
Bellamy does believe his "shyness as a child" and his upbringing in quiet Devon town Teignmouth, South West England, helped fuel the song ideas that have made Muse one of the biggest bands in the world.
The 38-year-old musician – who has four-year-old son Bingham with his former fiancée Kate Hudson – said: "In your quiet shyness as a child you end up with an accumulation of thoughts and ideas, building up big, imaginative worlds. You have to get it all out somehow, so it goes into your work … Being from a small town, no one else was going to breathe life into my ideas other than me, so I had to go out there and do it."
Muse will be joined at Glastonbury by fellow headliners Adele and Coldplay as well as a host of other artists, including Ellie Goulding, Jess Glynne, Foals, ZZ Top and New Order.
