Marcel Somerville: Talking about Gabby split hurts

Marcel Somerville was "hurting" when he opened up about his split from Gabby Allen.
The ‘Love Island’ star walked the red carpet at the TV BAFTAs on Sunday afternoon without his co-star and ex-girlfriend after they went their separate ways earlier this month, and he found it "strange" that the blonde beauty wasn’t by his side.
Speaking at the Virgin TV British Academy Television Awards at London’s Royal Festival Hall on Sunday (13.05.18), he exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "It’s strange because we used to do this stuff together all the time, but now I’m out here on my own.
"It is a strange scenario. This is the first time I’ve been out and talking to the press since it’s all come out.
"I’ve had the same conversation talking about the split. Talking about it hurts.
"I’m OK, I’m good. I’m surviving."
Marcel found the red carpet experience "quite upsetting" without the 25-year-old star – who he found love with on the ITV2 show last year – but he has no plans to seek out another romance in the near future.
He added: "I’m not even close to thinking about going after anyone else at all.
"When you split up with someone you need to take some time for yourself before you even think about moving on."
While Marcel was sad to be at the ceremony without Gabby, he was smiling at the end of the night when ‘Love Island’ took home its first ever TV BAFTA with a victory in the Entertainment Programme category.
He said afterwards: "For me being in the villa and being around people you’ve just met in a week and being able to build bonds with them, it was amazing to see all the friendships blossoming.
"It was just nice to be part of it. I’m happy. I can’t say much more."
