Lynda Bellingham had been planning a family Christmas before her death.
The beloved actress and television presenter was excitedly planning her final Christmas with her two sons and her husband Michael Pattemore before she sadly passed away in hospital on Sunday (19.10.14) after battling colorectal cancer for 15 months.
In an emotional interview with ‘Loose Women’ – which was filmed last week – Lynda revealed that she was looking forward to having a real Christmas tree.
According to the Daily Mirror newspaper, she told Janet Street-Porter and Coleen Nolan: "Michael spent years trying to put me off a real tree and we’re very lucky as we live in a converted psychiatric hospital which has got a really tall ceiling. All I’ve ever wanted is a real tree.
"Hey, I’m getting one, I’m getting a real tree. He’ll just have to struggle out of the window with it afterwards, that’s fine!"
Speaking about her plans for her final Christmas meal, Lynda explained that she had booked a hotel and had even purchased several presents in advance.
She said: "We’re going to go to the hotel and have the meal but – just my little bit of control – we’re going home for pudding and presents … it’s exciting!"
"My only problem is getting the presents – my sister Jean has been absolutely amazing and I keep sending him [Michael] out for bizarre things."
Just days after recording the interview, Lynda passed away, aged 66, meaning that her wish for one last Christmas was left unfulfilled.
However, she told Coleen that she just wanted to be remembered as an "honest person".
She said: "Just as an honest person … trust is a huge thing. Not just as an actor, not just as a lover, not just as a wife, that trust thing. Just to say, ‘you could trust her’."
