Lorde has donated $14,500 to a New Zealand charity

Lorde has donated $14,500 to a New Zealand charity.
The ‘Royals’ hitmaker has given a significantly large sum of money – the equivalent of $20,000 New Zealand dollars or £10,000 – to Fuel the Need organisation on Wednesday (29.06.16), which provides under-privileged children with school meals, according to Stuff website.
The brunette beauty – whose real name is Ella Marija Lani Yelich-O’Connor – posted her generous donation under her birth name, and wrote: "Good on you Manuel and Fuel the Need – hope this helps a little bit. Lots of love from a former kid who is passionate about all kids having access to food at school."
However, the 19-year-old’s kind offering took the company’s founder, Manuel Dalton, by surprise.
He said: "All sleepy eyed I looked at my notifications and saw one from Givealittle and had to do a double take at seeing $20,000.
"I wasn’t aware who Ella Yelich-O’Connor was and when people told me it was Lorde, I said ‘Gosh, oh my Lord’."
According to Manuel the scheme was aiming to raise $30,000 over an entire school year, and he was under pressure to reach their target by the end of July to ensure they didn’t have to leave the project mid-way.
He explained: "The last thing I wanted to do was in a month or two stop because we’ve got no more money."
However the New Zealand-born star and her representatives have yet to comment or confirm the contribution.
Meanwhile, Lorde has revealed she didn’t always think she would become a successful musician and actually wanted to be a comedian as a child.
Speaking previously, she said: "That i would be at uni studying law lol.. this reminds me i actually found an old scrapbook from when i was maybe 7 or 8 that said "future job" and i had written COMEDIAN??????????? which is so mental i’m not even funny ha wtf who did i think i was bloody any schumer or some s**t??????? (sic)."
