Listen: Charli xcx releases Wuthering Heights soundtrack album

Charli xcx has unveiled her brand‑new album Wuthering Heights, to coincide with the arrival of Emerald Fennell’s hotly anticipated new feature film of the same name, which hits cinemas nationwide.

The project sees Charli stepping into bold new territory, crafting a soundtrack for one of literature’s most iconic love stories — reimagined through Fennell’s signature lens. The film stars Margot Robbie as Cathy and Jacob Elordi as Heathcliff, charting their intense, forbidden connection as it spirals from romance into obsession in a sweeping tale of lust, longing and unravelling sanity.

Standout tracks include the singles Chains of Love and House of Love with John Cale of The Velvet Underground.

The 33-year-old pop star recently gushed that it was a “heavenly” experience contributing to the soundtrack, while revealing the artists that inspired her.

Speaking to the BBC at the film’s UK premiere in London this month, Charli explained: “I always like to work with polar opposites, and so this was honestly a dream project for me.

“When I first started making music, I was so inspired by, you know, so many of the references that Emerald and I were talking about, like Shakespears Sister to The Cure to, obviously, Kate Bush … So this was, yeah, it was really heavenly to work on this.”

Charli is also starring in The Moment, her new mockumentary film about her Brat Tour, and the singer recently opened up about her preparations for the project.

Speaking at a Q+A in Brooklyn, Charli – who released her acclaimed Brat album in 2024 – said: “I play — I hope — a slightly different version of my real self in this film. I don’t think I’m quite that much of a nightmare the whole time, but I wouldn’t really be the best person to ask about that.

“The thing about the Charli in the film is all of the scenarios that my character in the film goes through could have happened if I made slightly different decisions in my own life and in my own career.

“Obviously I assume that most of you here know that this is not what happened when it came to Brat and going on tour and things like that.”
