Lethal Weapon and The Exorcist to be made into Fox TV series

‘The Exorcist’ and ‘Lethal Weapon’ are to be made into television series by Fox.
Written originally by Jeremy Slater and directed by Rupert Wyatt, ‘The Exorcist’ has had a pilot script written by Matt Nix, under the direction of Len Wiseman.
The ‘Lethal Weapon’ franchise – which starred Mel Gibson and Danny Glover as police detectives Martin Riggs and Roger Murtaugh – is being turned into a pilot by Matt Miller and the episode will be directed by McG.
Although the TV show will be based on the movies there will be some slight changes to the characters back stories.
Riggs – who will be played by ‘Rectify’ star Clayne Crawford – is now a former Navy SEAL and Texas cop who moves to Los Angeles after his wife and child are killed.
Murtaugh will be portrayed by In Living Color’s Damon Wayans Sr. who needs to take things easier due to a recent heart attack but his pairing with Riggs does nothing to help his health.
‘The Exorcist’ – regularly cited as the greatest horror film ever made – is to come to TV as a propulsive psychological thriller following two very different priests tackling one family’s case of horrifying demonic possession.
Among the cast set to star in the TV series is Alfonso Herrera, Ben Daniels, Geena Davis, Brianne Howey, Hannah Kasulka and Kurt Egyiawan.
The two film adaptations are among several new shows ordered by Fox, including women-in-baseball drama ‘Pitch’, ‘APB’, time travel comedy ‘Making History’, comedy ‘The Mick’, ’24: Legacy’ and ‘Star’.
