KISS’ Paul Stanley calls out Jane’s Addiction for onstage brawl

KISS star Paul Stanley has weighed in on Jane Addiction’s stage brawl – branding it “kid s***”.

The band’s gig in Boston on September 13 came to an abrupt end after frontman Perry Farrell, 65, appeared to throw a punch at his bandmate, guitarist Dave Navarro, 57, during a heated confrontation in front of the audience, and Paul insists they owed it to their loyal fans who had paid to see them to deal with their “anger” issues away from the stage.

Speaking on Steve-O‘s ‘Wild Ride’ podcast, he said: “You don’t hit. And you don’t bring your problems onstage. You leave your ego – well, that’s more difficult. But you leave your anger and your resentment at the bottom of the stairs.”

The ‘Rock and Roll All Nite’ hitmaker insists KISS would never disrespect their fans in that way.

He went on: “The audience paid. And that goes back to that same philosophy of [KISS] being the band we never saw.

“People get one chance to see you, possibly on a tour. It doesn’t matter about last night or about the night after – that’s their night, and for them to see you not interacting with your bandmate, that’s kid s***. That’s disrespectful to the people who paid.”

Perry issued a statement apologising for his “inexcusable behaviour”.

The singer wrote at the time: “This weekend has been incredibly difficult and after having the time and space to reflect, it is only that I apologise to my bandmates, especially Dave Navarro, fans, family and friends for my actions during Friday’s show.

“Unfortunately, my breaking point resulted in inexcusable behaviour, and I take full accountability for how I chose to handle the situation.”

His wife, Etty Lau Farrell, insisted they were shocked by the outburst as her other half is usually the “gentlest of souls”.

Revealing he was seeking medical treatment following the fight, which led to the band scrapping the rest of their North American tour, Etty explained: “As you know, Perry is the gentlest of souls. We are equally astonished at Perry’s physical outburst as you are – but you must know that Perry must had been pushed to his absolute limit.. to that end we apologise.

“We are taking a bit of time to ourselves, to reflect and to heal. Perry already has appointments with a otolaryngologist and a neurologist. If you know and love Perry well, you know there’s no need for me to address the other false narratives. Our souls know.”

She added: “With all of your love, kindness, compassion and support, you know, Perry will persevere.. He will recover. He will be happy again. He will once again be able to share his music, vision and artistry – unbridled.

“Make no mistake when he’s ready he will take another giant leap over obstacles to make us laugh, think, while changing the world together.

“We can rejoice together then. And you will know, we would not have been able to do it without you.”
