Kerry Katona "blames" herself for her ex-husband’s "aggression".
The Atomic Kitten star claims her former spouse George Kay was "quite violent" towards her but she doesn’t blame him or her family, she instead blames herself for "allowing herself to be in those situations".
She shared: "My last husband was quite aggressive and he was quite violent towards me. I’m not blaming nobody, I’m not blaming my mum for the drugs, I’m not blaming my husbands for the violence – I allowed myself to be in those situations. No one forced me to do anything I didn’t want to do. I’d be having epileptic fits from taking drugs and it was almost as if I was being feisty towards my husband because I wanted to get a good hiding because I thought that’s what I deserved. But I’m stronger than ever now, I’ve walked away from it and I’ve turned it around. I’ve been bankrupt twice, married three times, five children by three different dads … but I feel amazing."
The 37-year-old singer – who has Molly, 16, Lilly-Sue, 15, Heidi, 11, Maxwell, 10, and Dylan-Jorge, four, from her past relationships – has been married three times and thinks she has walked down the aisle so many times in the past because she dreamt of having "security".
Speaking on the Art of Winning Show, she added: "I’ve been on a mission to find the right kind of man, when I was younger I wanted to have a husband and children; the nine-to-five job, put the tea on the table and do their homework. I think that’s why I got married so many times, to try and recreate my dream of having that security … the whole 1950s thing is what I wanted."
