Katie Price escapes Ofcom punishment

Katie Price is to avoid an Ofcom investigation for using the N-word twice on ‘This Morning’.
The outspoken TV star shocked viewers last month when she repeated the racial slurs made against her 14-year-old son Harvey – who suffers from Prader-Willi syndrome – on the ITV programme, but the broadcasting regulator has confirmed she will not face any punishment over her comments.
Explaining the decision, a spokesperson for Ofcom said: "We considered a handful of complaints about potentially offensive language in this mid-morning magazine programme.
"We found it was used in a descriptive manner to illustrate the nature of online abuse and the presenters issued an apology immediately after the broadcast."
Katie, 39, appeared on ‘This Morning’ to talk about her efforts to impose tougher punishments against online trolls.
The former glamour model explained to TV hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby that the issue was especially close to her heart because of the insults directed at Harvey, whose father is ex-soccer star Dwight Yorke.
During the on-air discussion, Katie said: "Is it strong enough to call my son a black blind n*****, is that not abuse? They called him a g******g, that’s my son, is that acceptable?"
She also said: "Calling my son a n***** is just not acceptable."
Katie’s remarks prompted a telling off from Phillip, who warned her about using the N-word.
He said: "Do not use that word again."
The mother-of-five is currently campaigning to make online bullying a criminal offence in the UK and her efforts have already received the support of more than 200,000 people who have signed a petition in favour of the proposal.
